Cutting and Assembly Instructions http://www.pellonprojects.com Cut 1/8 yard of the black fabric and the Pellon 805 Wonder-Under. Trace the letters, found on the template page, onto the paper side of the Wonder-Under, following the number needed for each letter. See chart below. Fuse the Wonder-Under to the wrong side of the black fabric. A x 9, B x 2, C x 2, D x 4, E x 12, F x 2, G x 3, H x 2, I x 9, J x 1, K x 1, L x 4, M x 2, N x 6, O x 8, P x 2, Q x 1, R x 6, S x 4, T x 6, U x 4, V x 2, W x 2, X x 1, Y x 2, Z x 1 Cut out each letter. To make the tiles Cut six pieces of yellow fabric 20 x 22. Cut three pieces of Pellon 72F Peltex 20 x 22. Layer one piece of Pellon Peltex between two pieces of yellow fabric with the wrong side of the yellow fabric against the Peltex. Fuse the layers together. Repeat with the remaining pieces of yellow fabric and Peltex. Mark pencil lines lightly on the fabric every 3 in one direction, then every 3 in the opposite direction. Using the pencil lines as a guide, sew a small satin stitch on either side of the pencil lines, first vertically, then horizontally. When crossing over rows of stitches, backstitch a few stitches to lock stitches in place. Fuse the letters onto each square. Leave two squares blank. Carefully cut along the pencil lines until all 100 tiles are cut out. Scrabble Page 2
http://www.pellonprojects.com Using the Sharpie marker, write in the points for each letter in the bottom right hand corner of each tile, using the chart below as a guide. 1 Point: A, E, I, O, L, N, R, S, T, U 2 Points: D, G 3 Points: B, C, M, P 4 Points: F, H, V, W, Y 5 Points: K 8 Points: J, X 10 Points: Q, Z The blank tile has no points. Score Squares Fuse Wonder-Under to the wrong side of the light blue fabric, the green fabric, the purple fabric and the red fabric. Cut 3 1/8 squares from the fabric as follows: Light Blue 24 Green 12 Purple 12 Red 6 Using the Sharpie marker, write the words as follows: Light Blue Squares Green Squares Purple Squares Red Squares Write Double Letter Score Write Triple Letter Score Write Double Word Score Write Triple Word Score Scrabble Page 3
http://www.pellonprojects.com Cut black fabric 17 x 45. Cut Wonder-Under 17 x 45. Fuse the Wonder-Under to the wrong side of the black fabric. Remove the paper backing and cut 1/4 stripes lengthwise. Cut three pieces of yellow fabric, one each 45 x 55, 45 x 10 and 10 x 10. Sew the 10 x 10 to the 10 x 45 along the 10 side. Press. Sew this 10 x 55 piece to the 45 x 55 piece along the 55 side. This will create a 55 x 55 square. Tape this square to a flat surface. Using a right angle ruler, mark one corner. Measuring from there, draw vertical and horizontal lines 3 1/8 apart across entire square. Fuse the colored squares onto the board following the diagram. Iron the 1/4 black strips, centering them in the middle of the pencil lines. Add extra pieces if they do not reach the end, overlap by 1/4. Scrabble Page 4
