Deconstruction Forum 2014 Press release / 1,235 words / February 20th, 2014 The European Demolition Association invites all the industries related with demolition to participate in the Deconstruction Forum 2014. The Deconstruction Forum will be held in Madrid (June 12 th -14 th, 2014) The demolition industry is about handling the space change, taking care of the needs and/or requirements of the customer to leave an empty area. The industries involved in the process of what now is called deconstruction (hazardous waste decontamination, concrete sawing and drilling, dismantling, decommissioning, demolition, preparation for recycling, water jetting and recycling, ) need to work together and be deeply connected. Aware of this reality, the European Demolition Association is preparing the Deconstruction Forum, a joint event which aims to be an open conference where all the related industries could work together towards this mutual goal. As a multilingual conference, the Deconstruction Forum would be a common space where worldwide professionals from the related industries can meet and connect. This Forum will be held in Madrid on June 12th to 14th, 2014. Conference & networking The Deconstruction Forum is a multilingual conference where the most important and relevant topics will be approached by highly professional experts. The forum will have an important technical part, with a full day conference about new developments, case stories and round table discussions. The International Association of Concrete Drillers and Sawers (IACDS), the European Decontamination Institute (EDI) and the Fédération Internationale du Recyclage (FIR) are partners of the Deconstruction Forum and will be actively involved on the preparation of this unique meeting. Activities The Deconstruction Forum offers a joint event where all the related industries could work together towards their mutual goal. In order to that, the forum offers an important technical program, with a full day conference about new developments, case stories and round table discussions. With recognised experts and practitioners as speakers, the program will held the latest developments and innovations in the areas of hazardous waste decontamination, recycling, concrete swing and drilling, and selective demolition, among others. On Friday, the professional attendants will enjoy several conferences with speakers coming from all over the world to open the debate about the industries that join into the deconstruction area. At the same time, there will be a leisure program which launch as a unique opportunity to discover the cosmopolitan city of Madrid, with diverse activities organized as the Welcome Cocktail, the Gala Dinner and guided visits to the most emblematic places of the Spanish capital. During these three days, contractors, suppliers, associations representatives and other related professionals will have the opportunity to network with each other. Among all the activities, there will be coffee breaks at the Exhibition Area to improve the connection between professionals. Topics of the conference The Deconstruction Forum has been created to approach the most important and relevant topics about these industries and deconstruction, focusing on the demolition, recycling, concrete drilling and sawing and hazardous waste decontamination. As experts and practitioners on each industry, the speakers will talk around the key topic of the event: the need for related industries to work together on the subject of deconstruction. The conference will include topics of hazardous waste decontamination, presenting the innovations on the treatment of hazardous waste as PCB or lead. Upon the recycling topic, the experts will address subjects as the trends on recycling C&D waste, the sustainability and end-of-life of construction products with an update of the European Waste Framework. The Deconstruction Forum will feature five case stories, practical approaches to the industries involved in the deconstruction process from decontamination of hazardous waste, the application of selective demolition for the recycling process, urban demolition, implosion of high rise buildings to special application on concrete sawing and drilling. As an international meeting and aiming to work globally on the deconstruction area, there will be two conferences to analyse the market situation and future possibilities in emerging countries. Leisure program The Deconstruction Forum will offer a complement leisure program for the attendances to enjoy their stay in Madrid and make the best of the time during the meeting. To open the three days of activities, the Deconstruction Forum will start with a Welcome Cocktail on an significant spot at the hotel Intercontinental, on Thursday, June 12 th. The participants on the meeting will also enjoy guided visits to San Lorenzo del Escorial and surroundings (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a panoramic tour of the most important sights of the city of Madrid (Cibeles, Bernabeu s Stadium, Las Ventas bullring or the Main Square) and a visit to the Royal Palace. At night, a Gala Dinner in the emblematic Casino de Madrid, with live entertainment in a unique location to remember for a lifetime, will provide a relaxed atmosphere to the professionals at the Deconstruction Forum. These activities will provide an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues, contractors, manufacturers, associations members and also to add moments of joy during the professional meeting of the Deconstruction Forum. European Demolition Association, EDA The European Demolition Association, EDA, was founded in 1978 and is the European platform for national demolition associations, demolition contractors and suppliers. EDA organizes every year activities to get together the demolition industry from all over Europe. The most important one is the Annual Convention, a meeting that includes technical part with presentations about key topics and optional leisure activities. International Association of Concrete Dillers and Sawers, IACDS The International Association of Concrete Dillers & Sawers, IACDS, is an organization of professional drilling and sawing National Associations from around the globe. The IACDS mission is to provide an international union with the cooperation of trade Associations to support and promote the development of professional drilling and sawing contractor and their methods. European Decontamination Institute, EDI The European Decontamination Institute, EDI, is a European platform for national decontamination associations, decontamination contractors and suppliers. The main objectives of the EDI are to protect the interests of the decontamination industry in Europe; to set and promote European standards on decontamination techniques and to get involved in improving the legislation concerning hazardous waste. Fédération Internationale du Recyclage, FIR The Fédération Internationale du Recyclage, FIR, is the representative of the recycling industry of Construction & Demolition Waste (C&DW). It also represents the recycling industry on Incinerator Bottom Ash.
