Kindergarten Make & Take Spring Quarter, 2018 TIMESAVER TIP: Taking time to separate, organize and file the life application pages in this book will save hours of time over the quarterly period. Remove the sticker pages from the middle of the book. Use a paper cutter to cut half the book along the perforation lines. Then, cut the other half the same way, or use sharp scissors to cut several pages but not half the book. Separate by lessons and file in a file folder. Add the Bible stories leaflets for that lesson. Repeat the process for each of the thirteen lessons. File the lesson folders in an expansion folder. Place sticker pages in a separate file folder and file in the expansion folder. Busy teachers appreciate the convenience of each week taking a file folder with lesson materials already together. Attendance Poster An individual attendance poster with colored stickers to add provides a personal incentive to be present each week. Give each learner present the same sticker. It does not matter in what order you use them. At the end of the quarter, those with perfect attendance have a pretty poster to share with their families by putting it on the refrigerator or family bulletin board. Lesson 1 March 4, 2018 The Kind Stranger The Bible story reminder makes a diorama type display. Cut around the curved line at the bottom after learners color the picture as desired. Trim around the top of the picture. Fold on both broken lines to make both the back and front sections stand upright. Lesson 2 March 11, 2018 The Hiding Place How can a child show kindness? Kindness is helping one another. We please Jesus and enjoy happiness when we treat each other kindly and help as we can. Encourage learners to say the words of the Bible memory verse as they color the pictures. Who is helping another? Add the kite sticker to complete the picture. Lesson 3 March 18, 2018 Dorcas Helps Others The main character in this Bible story always went about doing good things for others. When she found someone with a need, she tried to take care of the person. The Scriptures tell about widows who displayed coats she made for them. It is reasonable to believe she helped children also. While learners color the pictures, talk about people the children may know who help others in a generous, kind way. Provide watercolors and brushes for learners to use. Styro foam egg cartons make good water holders. Fill the cups about half full of water to give plenty of rinsing cups when changing from one color of paint to another. The sticker shows a new coat like Dorcas might have made for a poor girl. Lesson 4 March 25, 2018 David Returns Kindness The contrast of unkind and kind actions illustrates choices learners may make. Cut away margins around the picture strips. Cut apart where indicated. Glue tabs under the pictures to make a continuous strip. Fold pictures back and forth to make an accordion folder. Look at and discuss picture 1. Does it show kind or unkind actions? Picture 2 shows the resolution of the conflict illustrated in picture 1. Use each set of pictures to help the children learn to think. What is happening? Is it a good choice? How might the conflict end happily? Lesson 5 April 1, 2018 Stephen Forgives His Enemies Butterflies seem so happy and carefree as they flutter around through the air. We can know freedom by forgiving people who hurt us. Provide washable watercolor markers for learners to color the butterfly pieces. Let them cut out the wing sections cutting only the outside lines. Stack them in order and glue in the center section only. Add the body sticker over the glued section. Open the wings and tie a thread or string through the body to suspend it in the air. Of what will the butterfly remind learners? To enjoy feeling good inside by forgiving those who hurt them.
Lesson 6 April 8, 2018 The Twin Brothers Learners can review the Bible story or make up pretend situations for life application with the puppets on this page. Coloring is optional depending on the time available. Cut the puppets apart on the heavy black lines. Fold each in the middle to make a front and back. Tape both sides. Insert fingers through the opening at the bottom of the puppets. Let learners use the puppets for telling the story or sharing how we should forgive one another for hurts. Make an envelope for holding the puppets as directed on the project page. Lesson 7 April 15, 2018 A Father Forgives His Son Color, cut and fold on this project. Talk about the situation pictured in which the girl feels she is in trouble because of a bad mess she made. She apologizes and asks her dad to forgive her. Will he? Turn the picture to the other side and see the happiness of getting forgiveness from parents when something is wrong. Encourage each child to express appreciation to his dad. Lesson 8 April 22, 2018 Jesus Forgives Those Who Crucify Him New words for familiar tunes are easy for most children to learn. After repeating them a few times, learners often sing them on their own as they do other things. Ahead of time, cut off the bottom margin and cut along heavy black lines separating the story sections. Fold each section over and crease. Then, unfold again. Learners will use the fold line to help them fold each picture. Read the first story. Fold the picture over to show the friends forgiving each other. Use the same procedure for each story and picture. Lesson 9 April 29, 2018 Friends Are for Sharing The sharing duck reminds learners to share what they have with others. Provide two pieces of gum for each learner. Coloring the duck is optional. Use a craft knife or razor blade to cut slits along the heavy lines on the duck s bill and wing area. Be sure to use and store the knife or blade out of learner s reach. Insert a piece of gum through each set of slits. Ask learners to be sharing friends like Jonathan. Cheer ful givers please Jesus. Lesson 10 May 6, 2018 Sharing Does Not Empty the Barrel Having company for mealtimes is not usually a decision made by children. They may get permission from parents to invite a friend to eat with them. What are good foods the learner might share if someone came to visit at mealtime? Let learners cut out the pictures of food and glue them to the tabletops. Talk about the source of good food. Trace it all the way back to God. Lesson 11 May 13, 2018 Sharing Makes Happiness Read aloud the story that tells about the picture to color. Do learners in your class have red wagons which they might use to help others? Lesson 12 May 20, 2018 Sharing Life Each child will make his own puzzle with this project page. Color the picture. Then, add the sticker. The straight lines will be easy for him to cut. Help any who may not know how to use scissors. Have construction paper for him to glue the puzzle pieces to after cutting them out. Lesson 13 May 29, 2018 Sharing with Jesus A story review picture gives each child a learning tool to share with someone by telling him the story it illustrates. Let learners color the pictures and add the stickers to show who shared with Jesus. Stress the importance of sharing what we have even though it may not be much. Jesus can make it go further when we give because we love Him. Award Certificate Write the information on the certificate ahead of time. Give a certificate to each child who has had perfect attendance for the quarter. Encourage each child to show kindness, forgiveness and sharing in his life.
