2013 Oklahoma City Data Management Symposium Speaker Biographies Trudy Curtis, PPDM Association Trudy Curtis is Chief Executive Officer of the Professional Petroleum Data Management (PPDM) Association based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She has over thirty years of experience in the industry and is known around the world for her passionate advocacy of professional data management and data management standards. After receiving a BSc. from the University of Calgary in 1978, Ms. Curtis went on to work tirelessly in her career-long efforts dedicated to the creation and industry adoption of standards, best practices and the professionalism of data management in the petroleum industry. She has promoted corporate recognition of data management as a profession and is moving the discipline to new levels through the development of Petroleum Data Management Certification. Through her work, Ms. Curtis has supported the global community of data managers with her expertise as a data architect, led and shared presentations at workshops and conferences, and furthered data management within the E&P industry. Joseph Seila, Devon Energy Joseph Seila has been with Devon Energy for nearly eight years and is currently the Lead of Geoscience Data Services. He has attended Oklahoma Baptist University, Tulsa Community College and the University of Oklahoma. Joseph is also currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Professional Petroleum Data Management Association. David M. Baker, Chesapeake David Baker is a Senior Advisor Geoscience Technology & Services at Chesapeake Energy, an independent oil & gas company based in Oklahoma City. David has been a practicing exploration geologist for over 30 years and successfully explored for oil and gas in the lower 48 states, offshore Gulf of Mexico and Canada for Cheyenne Petroleum Company and Range Resources Corp., before accepting a position as Chief Technology Advisor at Chesapeake five years ago. David s primary role at Chesapeake is to craft innovative technology solutions to geologic, data and workflow problems in the Geoscience Department. An authority in Geodesy and Mathematical Geology, he is the chief architect of Chesapeake s internal Geosteering application. Jim Jameson, Noah Consulting Jim Jameson is a Principal at Noah Consulting, with over 25 years of experience in a wide range of IT and Organizational Effectiveness functions. His current work is in the area of change management and business readiness for transformational data management initiatives. Jim s focus on the people side of technology change is intended to broaden stakeholder perspectives on work in response to a disruptive change in their work environment. His goal in any engagement is to improve project success rates by accelerating the adoption of strategies and solutions. He is also skilled in managing SharePoint sites, facilitating communities of practice, and applying simple tools in creative ways. Jim spent the majority of his career at Mobil/ExxonMobil (in corporate and upstream), mostly in the areas of IT Strategy, Collaboration, and Knowledge Management (KM) He earned an MS degree in Information Systems from George Washington University, along with certifications in KM. Based in Keller, TX, he is a member of the Association for Change Management Professionals (ACMP), the Organization Development Network, and Toastmasters International. Amy Giles, SM Energy Amy Giles is the Manager of Data Management at SM Energy, an independent oil & gas company based in Denver. She has 20 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry with numerous roles in the Information Technology sector. She spent 10 years in IT Project Management, implementing custom developed GIS systems, various operational systems, integrated systems for international mergers, and established a Data Management and Business Intelligence department. She is currently responsible for the Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence, SharePoint and custom developed.net solutions at SM Energy. Amy is originally from Pittsburgh, but has lived and worked in Farmington, NM; Calgary, AB; Stavanger, Norway and now resides in Denver, CO. Sarah Whitehouse, SM Energy Sarah Whitehouse is the Business Intelligence Team Lead at SM Energy where she enjoys the on-going challenges of aligning innovative BI solutions with the company s rapidly growing and changing business processes and data delivery needs. She joined the Data Management Team at SM-Energy after moving to Denver with her family in 2010. Bryan Sagebiel, Chesapeake Bryan is originally from Fredericksburg, TX. He holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems from Tarleton State University. Immediately following graduation, he moved north to Oklahoma in 1989. Before working in the Oil and Gas industry, Bryan worked as a computer instructor, and did software and network support in several industries including education, construction, law, residential appraisals, and banking. As a 17-year veteran at Chesapeake, Bryan spent first his 10 years in various management positions in IT and managing and building an infrastructure for a company that was literally doubling in size every year. In September 2006, Bryan move into the Chesapeake Geoscience group and focused on the systems and data needs for the department. Bryan is married to his one and only wife Becky. In August, they will celebrate 21 years together. They have three children (Landon Colorado Christian in Lakewood CO, Holden 10th grade at Norman High and Honor in 7th grade Alcott Middle school), one dog, one horse, and five chickens. At home, Bryan is most comfortable working with his tractor and regularly working on some construction or home improvement projects at their 10-acre farm in Norman.
