Start saving your selvages; there is a new book with many simple projects to make with them. I heard it snowed in Fargo today! Just in time, we found a new fur scarf pattern I know you ll love. We ve been on the hunt for some new block of the month clubs. We ve found something for everyone, including the youth sewers. We know you will love what we picked out and can t wait to share them with you at our Year of Savings Event December 1. On November 12, Susan Zellers from Baby Lock will be here to teach the serger wallet and lead us in learning the many decorative stitches the Baby Lock serger can do. If you don t already own a serger, this is a great time Snippets from Sandy to test drive the machine. We supply the serger, fabrics, and lunch. We still have a few spots available so call soon to reserve your place in class. See page 6 for more details. The response to our tree challenge has been awesome. BYOM Tuesday, November 20: 1-4pm or 5:30-8:30pm Introduction to Quilting on the Crown Jewel The class will cover how to load your quilt onto the Crown Jewel Quilt Frame and do free motion quilting. You will work one on one with the instructor to load your quilt top (no larger than 60" x 60") on the quilt frame. At the completion of the class you will leave with a quilt ready to be bound. You will also need to bring backing that is 8" larger than the quilt top. $130 includes a set of zippers and a package of bobbins Thursday, November 1, Friday, November 9, Monday, November 19, & Thursday, November 29: 1-6 pm Class Policies Call or stop in to sign up and pay for the class of your choice. Class fee is due when you register. Phone registrations (701-433-7203) accepted only with a charge card payment. The class supply list will be available when you register and pay for the class. Supplies are not included in the class fee. Please have supplies purchased before class. Kits required are available at the store. BYOM means bring your own machine. No photocopied patterns or books will be allowed in classes. We consider your enrollment to be a commitment by you to take the class and we in turn make a commitment to the instructor. No cancellations are allowed on classes. Thank you for not asking us to make exceptions. Your sewing machine or serger must be in top working condition before you arrive at class. Students whose equipment is not working properly disturb and slow down the class. We service all brands of machines and sergers so come see us prior to the start of the class. Create with Embroidery Please call to pre-register P A G E 5 Join us the first Friday of each month to learn a machine embroidery technique. Anita Goodesign has developed video tutorials that we are excited to share with you. Each video explains the project and step by step how tos. You ll receive a packet with the embroidery design needed for the project and additional bonus designs ($60 value). After watching the video, you can decide to purchase a kit to complete the project or work on your own embroidery projects. Cost is $15 and includes a coupon for $5 off the next consecutive month. Friday, November 2 Video played at 11 am, 2 pm, and 6:30 pm Jo Morton Club The memoires of Jo will be brought to Rae-Bon in Jo s Little Women Club. Eight patterns for lap or doll quilts and wall hangings will be used through the year. These are exclusive to the Jo Mortons club 11. Meetings will include sampling foods, guests, great door prizes, show and tell, and possibly even field trips. $60 for 12 months. New participants are still able to register. You ll receive all the patterns from the beginning of the club and be able to participate in events from this point forward. Tuesday, November 13: 2-4 pm or 6-8 pm Monthly Gatherings Quattro Showcase Do you have a Quattro (6000D or 6700D) or are considering purchasing one. This is a great chance to see all the Quattro has to offer. Each month we will demonstrate a feature of the Quattro or show a new accessory. Some of the features/accessories will work on other machines in the line. Space is limited, so you must sign up in advance. 10% discount on any accessories shown and purchased that day. This month we will be showing the V Foot. Thursday, November 8 Demonstrations at 11 am, 3 pm, or 6:30 pm Stitcher s Garden Party Day We will continue to work on the Stitcher s Garden Block of the Month. Each block makes use of all the decorative stitches on your sewing machine. There is still room to sign up if you d like to join. Check the quilt out on our website. The cost is $16 per month with a $45 initial sign up fee. Monday, November 19: 10 am-6 pm Demo & Dessert We ll provide some tasty desserts while you learn about new products, machines, or fabrics that have arrived in the past month. We will also handout the monthly Stash Pot Pie Pattern (see page 6). Receive a 10% discount on any new items highlighted that day. Tuesday, November 27: 1 pm or 6:30 pm Souper Sewing Friday Are you currently enrolled in a class or gathering and need more guidance? Or just want to sew with others? Then sign up for Souper Sewing Friday. We will have an instructor here to help you from 10 am to midnight. So bring your machine and a project-we ll provide soup, dessert, and assistance. Cost is $10 and you must register 24 hours in advance. Friday, November 16: 10 am-6 pm or 6 pm-midnight
P A G E 6 Baby Lock Educator: Susan Zellers Monday, November 12 9-5 pm We will start the day making a sewing wallet using the serger. The cover will be quilted using a chain stitch and texture magic. We will also make double fold bias bound pockets, covered elastic with narrow belt loop binder, install zipper, and construct wallet. In the afternoon we will learn all about decorative serger techniques. The afternoon seminar will allow the curious at heart the opportunity to experience a Baby Lock serger before purchasing. If you think a serger is only for overcasting, this class will open you to a whole new world of serging. You will be convinced that not only is the Baby Lock serger the easiest to use, but it also has a wide range of creative possibilities. Lunch, all materials, and machines are provided.
