If there are members with damage or in need of help please contact one of the board members. I know we are all very thankful for the much needed rain, just wished it could have been spread out over a few more weeks. For those who did not get to our meeting in May, judging of the 4 seasons small quilts will be July, so finish them up. June is a busy month for many with traveling. Remember to pick up some fabric for a special project for the Quilt show which is only about a year off and we need items for the Artisans Market. Hospitality Committee: Linda Olsen Ileolsen@outlook.com Web Master: Perry Reid 401-5119 Quilt Show Sue Esparza woodenquilt@gmail.com 206-2328 Mission Statement: I have also started a challenge which will end in September. I have asked the members to make a name tag that will show a side of you we may not know, a favorite item or make a statement. Only make is so we can read your name. When I was in the Kingwood, TX Quilt Guild, my tag had a fancy Snail on it (I was slow completing things had 4 babies). Have a wonderful June and keep quilting! Kathy The mission of the Edmond Quilt Guild is to preserve, teach and share the history and art of quilting.

While you are working on your quilts, sometimes you need some "substance" to the fabric but don't want to use starch. I found a wonderful recipe I have been using. It doesn't flake and doesn't mess up my ironing surface. And as Patti O'Neil told me, "it's a good use for vodka!." Take 2 cups distilled water, 2 oz. vodka, 6-12 drops of a scented essential oil (available at Hobby Lobby), 1/2 cup Staflo liquid starch, and a spray bottle. It makes 9-10 ounces. Need to shake the bottle before using. Please be thinking of Artisans Market items you can add to our wonderful selection of items for our visitors to purchase that they absolutely would rather purchase than make themselves. Enjoy our summer break in June, and make a hand item while you're in the car travelling. See you in July!

Volume 13 Issue Page 8 SEW WHAT S NEW Membership Alice Kellogg Fifty eight brave souls weathered heavy rains and tornadoes to see Elsie Campbell. We are certainly a "do or die" quilting group. Of the 58, two were visitors and one, Shelby Robinson, is a junior quilter who came with a "show and share" project. I hope she was inspired by our quilts. We were certainly inspired to see her completed patchwork. Maybe she will join us. You should have received your roster via e-mail. If you have not or could not download it, contact me. WonderLand48@cox.net or 348-2233. We will be adding a purple notebook to the membership table. If you know of any member that needs a card or some other contact, please list that person, plus yourself. We can't recognize or contact a member if we are unaware of their circumstance, so please assist us in this way. We have made it easy and convenient. Just jot us a note. Loving Touch Janice Yount Hope everyone enjoyed meeting Courtney from Infant Crisis Center. It was interesting to find out what an impact our quilts have on people. It really brought it home for me. I ll get their wish list and forward it on to you all. Remember babies 40x40, kids 40x65 and placemats 12x18. Hope everyone has a safe June and Happy 4 th of July. When we re stuck inside because it s 110, outside let s crank the quilts out. You can call me and I ll get the quilts, etc. from you. If there is something I can help you with don t hesitate to contact me. Volume 13, Issue 6 Page 9 SEW WHAT S NEW In an effort to answer lots of questions that people ask about workshops, the board approved a set of policies to help you with your plans. In keeping with the EQG Mission Statement to support continuing growth and education for our members, the guild periodically offers quality workshops. Participation in these workshops not only provides opportunities to meet and study under great teachers but your support and participation helps the guild to defray the cost of speakers for guild meetings. 1. Enrollment is first come first serve. EQG Workshop Policies 2. Members are not enrolled in a workshop until the class fee has been paid. 3. Workshop fees must be paid one week before the class date. 4. No refunds will be given within one week before the class including no-shows on the day of the class. 5. Workshops usually have a kit fee that is included in the price of the class unless otherwise stated. 6. Attendees are expected to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the workshop and should be set up so that class can begin on time. If you are late to the class, the teacher is not obligated to catch you up. 7. Classes begin at 9:00 and are finished at 4:00 with a break for lunch. You may either bring your lunch or purchase it at a nearby restaurant. 8. EQG workshops are offered to guild members first but will be opened to the public one week prior to the class if it has not been filled. Class sizes vary according to the teacher s wishes. Sign-up for workshops will be available at the guild meeting beginning three meetings before the class date. ***Read the supply list carefully and follow the teacher s instructions accurately. Each teacher uses specific materials for their techniques and being sure that you have the exact requested supplies avoids frustrations and insures a relaxing, enjoyable and successful workshop for everyone.*** Example: Misty Fuse, Steam-a-Seam, Wonder Under and Pellon non-woven fusible are all fusibles, but each has a unique characteristic that causes the teacher to choose that one.
