General Infrmatin Yur brand new bentrup TC60 represents ne f the mst flexible iln cntrllers f the cmpact class. The TC60 cmbines many features, safe and precise iln peratin at a very reasnable price. Befre perating the TC60, please read and understand the manual carefully. This familiarizes yu with all functins f the TC60 quicly and ensures that yu can use all the capablities f yur cntrl. 900 600 [ C] Security Advice Firing Curves (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) 1.0 7.0 9.0 9.30 [min] Please refer t the security advice f the iln manufacturer. Mae sure that the cntrl is munted at a safe distance frm the iln and that the cntrl is nt expsed t direct heat r radiatin when the iln is pened whilst it is ht. The micrprcessr cntrller TC60 prvides yur iln with a precise and reprducable cntrlling unit. The firing curse is shwn as a firing curve cnsisting f five segments. An example is shwn belw. This firing curve cnsists f the fllwing sements: a. prgramme delay (1 hur) b. heating up t 600 C in 6 hurs (100 C/h) c. heating up t 900 C in 2 hurs (150 C/h) d. dwell (30 minutes) e. cling dwn (350 C/h) Up t five ften used curves can be saved as individual prgrammes. These firing curves let yu cnsider yur experience and special wishes. The values f these five prgrammes can be changed as yu lie. The five prgrammes are saved even after the cntrller is pwered ff. When a firing curve has been entered nce, yu dn t have t re-enter it every time, yu can simply call up this prgramm. This saves time and avid errrs. 11

Typical Firing Curves Depending n applicatin, clay, glaze etc. it required very different firing curves. Yur dealer will assist yu fr detailed questins. Fllwing firing curves are sme typical examples (these are laded as prgrammes number 1 t 5 in yur TC60 as default values): Firing t (min)heat up( C/h) temp ( C) heat up ( C) final temp ( C) dwell cling ( C/h) drying 0 30 150 SKIP* 150 0 SKIP biscuit 800 C 0 100 600 SKIP 800 10 SKIP biscuit 900 C 0 100 600 SKIP 900 10 SKIP glaze 1050 C 0 180 400 SKIP 1050 30 SKIP stneware 1180 C 0 180 400 SKIP 1180 30 SKIP *SKIP means maxiumum, ie. uncntrlled heat up / natural cling resp. Entering a Firing Curve Example: The biscuit firing 800 C (refer t table shwn abve) is entered as a firing curve as fllws: Pwer n the cntrller by the mains switch. After a few secnds the actual iln temperature appears n the display (1). Press the ey (5) nce. The sectin (a) f the firing curve (3) lights up. The display (1) shws the actual prgramme delay as hurs / minutes (0.00). Use the eys (7) and (8) t change this value. resp. The prgramme delay is used fr a delayed start f the firing. This can be used t tae advantage f "ff pea" electricity (e.g. if yu start the prgramme at 17.00 with a delay time f 5 hurs it will cause the firing t cmmence at 22.00). Press the ey (5) again t step t the next sectin f the firing curve (b). The display (1) shws the present value fr the temperature increase; the unit display (2) reads "degrees centigrade per hur". Use the eys (7) and (8) t set the temperature increase required (in ur example 100 C/h). If yu hld the ey (7) r (8) pressed, the displayed value will run thrugh autmatically. 12

resp. Press the ey (5) and enter the temperature f 600 C using the eys (7) r (8). When the iln reaches this temperature the TC60 will switch t the next ramp (sectin c).... resp. Nw, press ey (5) again t step t sectin (c) f the firing curve. Adjust the value SKIP by eeping the ey (8) pressed until the display shws SKIP. The value SKIP is shwn as depicted n the left. SKIP causes the iln t heat up with maximum speed (ie. full pwer) r natural cling (in a cling segment). Enter the values fr final temperature, dwell and cling in the same way: Use the ey (5) t step t the next segment and the shwn value is adjusted by using the eys (7) r (8) resp. If yu want t change a value again r yu have sipped a segment unintentinally, use the ey (5) t get bac t the beginning f the firing curve. Yu can alter all values as ften as yu lie. start stp T start the firing, press the ey (6). The display (1) shws frm nw n always the iln temperature. During a prgramme delay, the display (1) shws the remaining time until the firing starts. Additinally, the firing curve (3) indicates the current sectin f the firing. The flashing decimal pint in the right hand crner indicates prgramme running. Checing the Prgramme Values T chec r change the values f a prgramme when the firing has already been started, prceed as fllws: Press the ey (5), the firing is interrupted autmatically (decimal pint stps flashing). Nw, yu can step thrugh the segments using the ey (5) as described befre. T change a value, use eys (7) and (8). T cntinue the firing with the new values press ey (6) again. 13

prg Prgrammes A very helpful feature f the TC60 are the five prgrammes. Yu can enter the five mst ften used firing curves s yu dn t have t re-enter them fr each firing. Press the ey (4): The display (1) shws fr a few secnds the presently selected prgramme number (e.g. "P 1" fr prgramme n. 1). All changes f the firing curve refer t this prgramme. Example: T enter the glaze firing 1050 C as prgramme number 2, prceed as fllws: Press the ey (4) multiple times until the display reads "P 2" (fr prgramme 2). After a few secnds the display changes t the final temperature f this prgramme. Nw, step thrugh the sectins f the firing curve as described using the ey (5) (refer t the indicatrs f the firing curve (3) ) and enter all values accrding t the table "glaze firing 1050 C". By starting the prgramme (r by selecting any ther prgramme by the ey (4) ) the actual firing curve will be saved permanently as prgramme 2. Of curse yu can alter the prgrammes everytime again and the new values will be changed autmatically. Reactin n Pwer Breadwn Fr security reasns the firing will be interrupted if a pwer breadwn ccurs. Fr special applicatins a versin with pwer breadwn restart feature is available n request. Maximum Adjustable Values prgramme delay...0.00 t 10.00 hurs 1. heat up...10 C t 998 C/h, SKIP 1. temperature...20 C t 1320 C* 2. heat up...10 C/h t 998 C/h, SKIP final temperature...20 C t 1320 C* dwell...0.00 t 10.00 hurs cling...10 C/h t 998 C/h,SKIP * this value varies depending n the iln 14

Errr Messages The integrated micrprcessr inside yur TC60 perfrms cntinus checing f the firing prcess. In case f any malfunctin the display will shw an errr message pinting t the prblem. Fllwing is a descriptin f the pssible errr messages: The iln desn t fllw the required temperature increase. This errr message pints clearly t a iln prblem. Pssible cause: bren fuse, pwer phase r relay failed the dr (lid) cntact is pen a heating element is bren the heating elements are t ld (esp.with high firing temperatures) the thermcuple has a shrt circuit Thermcuple r thermcuple circuit defect Pssible cause: thermcuple bren thermcuple wiring bad cntacts f the cnnecting plug bad Impssible values n data acquisitin Pssible cause: thermcuple plarized bad thermcuple temperature less than -15 C Safety Switch Off features was activated The TC60 has measured an vertemperature in the iln and switched ff the iln by the 2nd pwer relay (if fitted). Chec carefully the cause befre using the iln again t avid further damage! As yur dealer fr assistance. 15

Errr detected during pwer-up self chec On every pwer-up the cntrller perfrms a self chec. If an errr is detected the cntrller shws F8 (ROM errr) r F9 (hardware errr). Please cntact yur lcal dealer. Setting the Parameters f the TC60 This infrmatin describes hw t adapt the TC60 t the iln. Usually, this is dne by the iln manufacturer. Yu can call up the parameters t view nly; t change them, yu need a special authrizatin cde which is available frm us n request. T get int the parameter menu press the ey start/stp and hld it pressed fr abut 4 secnds.
