2. Place a marked square right sides together with a 6 ⅜" leaf print square and stitch on each side of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line and press the stitched unit open with seam toward the leaf print side to complete 2 triangle units. Repeat with remaining squares to complete 32 triangle units. Completing Block B 3. Draw a line from corner to corner on the wrong side of each 2 and 3 pink tonal square. 4. Place a 2 square right sides together on the leaf print corner of 1 triangle unit and stitch on the marked line. Repeat with a 3 square on the light green tonal corner of the unit. Trim seam allowances to beyond the stitching lines and press the triangles to the right side to complete a pieced square unit. Repeat to complete 32 pieced square units. 1. Make 4 copies of the quarter-circle pattern given. Cut out and tape together to make the complete circle pattern. 2. Use the prepared circle pattern to cut 7 circles from freezer paper. 3. Iron the freezer-paper circles to the wrong side of the large roses print, leaving 1" between circles. 4. Cut out the circles, leaving a ⅜" seam allowance all around. 5. Select 4 pieced square units. Join 2 units with smaller pink triangles in the center to make a row. Repeat to make a second row. Press seams open. Join the 2 rows to complete 1 Block A. Repeat to make 8 Block A s. 5. Increase the stitch length on your machine to 3.5 or 4 and loosen the upper tension to 3. With the wrong side of a circle facing up, sew a line of stitches about from the edge of the freezer paper into the seam allowance. 6. With the wrong side of the circle facing up, pull the bobbin thread ends to gather the seam allowance toward the paper side of the circle. Distribute excess evenly and press in place. Apply spray starch to the seam allowance area to help make a crisp edge, if desired. Remove the freezer paper. 7. Fold a 13" square light green tonal in quarters and crease to mark the center. Repeat with a gathered fabric circle. Place the circle right side up on the square matching creases to center. Stitch in place by hand or machine using your favorite appliqué stitch. Repeat with remaining squares and gathered circles to make 7 units. Trim the appliqued squares to 11½" x 11½" square, centering the circle. 2. Sew a Block A between 2 Block B s to make Row 2. Repeat to make Row 4. Press seams toward Block B. 3. Join the rows in numerical order to complete the quilt center. Press seams in 1 direction. 4. Join (3) 2 ½" x WOF pink tonal strips on the short ends to make 1 long strip. Press seams open. Recut the strip into (2) 2 ½" x 55 ½" strips. Sew these strips to opposite long sides of the quilt center. Press seams toward the strips. 5. Sew a 2 ½" x 37 ½" pink tonal strip to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press seams toward the strips. 8. Draw a line from corner to corner on the wrong side of each 3 dark green tonal square. 9. To complete 1 Block B, select 4 marked dark green tonal squares and 1 appliquéd unit. Place a marked square on each corner of the square and stitch on the marked lines. Trim from the stitched seams and press the triangles to the right side to complete 1 Block B. Repeat to complete 7 Block B s. Completing the Quilt 6. Join the 6 ½" x WOF green rose toss strips on the short ends to make 1 long strip; press seams open. Recut the strip into (2) 6 ½" x 49 ½" strips and (2) 6 ½" x 59 ½" strips. Sew the longer strips to opposite long sides and shorter strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center to complete the quilt top. Press seams toward the strips. 7. Join the 2 -wide pink tonal binding strips on the short ends with diagonal seams, trim seams to and press open to make a long strip. Fold the strip with wrong sides together along the length and press to make a doublelayered binding. 1. Sew a Block B between 2 Block A s to make Row 1. Repeat to make Rows 3 and 5. Press seams toward Block B. 8. Remove the selvage edges from the backing rectangles and join along the 57" edges using a ½" seam allowance. Press seam open. Trim to make a 57" x 71" backing rectangle with a horizontal seam through the center. 9. Layer the quilt top with the backing rectangle and a 57" x 71" piece of batting. Pin or baste to hold. Quilt as desired. Trim batting and backing even with the top. 10.
