TOP DOG TIPS 1 2 3 4 5 6 The Snowdog sculpture is a three-dimensional blank canvas, enabling artists to create their own unique work of art on a brilliant and versatile form. They are manufactured using a mixture of Class II fire retardant laminating resin and chopped roving fibreglass over an initial brushed-on layer of polyester gel coat. Each Snowdog is finished with a primer and is ready to paint. Approx Sculpture dimensions: Height 153cm, Length 173cm, and Width 76cm. Snowdogs Discover Ashford is an interactive event, so the public will repeatedly touch your sculpture. Artists may attach items to the sculpture; however, unless secured robustly, add-ons may be removed or damaged. While we welcome all art forms, collage and/or sticking paper or paper-based products on to the sculpture does not prove as effective as painting or mosaics. Art materials are not provided. The use of acrylic paints is recommended although artificial resin paint or two-component paint can also be used. To complete your sculpture, it must be finished with a waterproof non-yellowing varnish, provided by us. Artists will not be responsible for placing their sculpture on the streets or collecting them at the end of the event. We do, however, ask artists to be available during and after the event for any touch-up work that may be required. If the artist is unavailable another artist will carry out this work. 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 You may submit up to three designs but please be aware that no more than one can be commissioned by a single artist. If your design is chosen, we will ask you to sign our standard copyright agreement. When planning your designs, please bear in mind that they should be appropriate for public display to a mass audience. Designs that are overtly religious, political or sexual in nature will not be accepted. Additionally, neither corporate logos nor advertising is allowed. Artists may alter the basic sculpture shape but if doing so, must ensure the finished work remains structurally intact. It is recommended that only artists experienced in working with fibreglass submit designs that use this process. Artists are requested to keep the dogs feet area clear of any attachments, so as not to interfere with fixing to the base. A painting space will be provided in Ashford for artists to create their Snowdog. Should artists wish to work on their sculpture in their own studio, they will be responsible for collecting and returning it safely and securely to the painting space. Please note that any designs we feel aren t appropriate for a mass audience, or won t survive the trail will not be included in the exhibition to sponsors (to avoid any upset or unfortunate trips to the vet!). Any questions? If you wish to speak to the team about your submission, please call Artist Manager Bec Britain on 07817 325 713 or email snowdogs@ashford.gov.uk
