HEAR YE HEAR YE A NOTE FROM ONE OF OUR PRESIDENTS Wow it is summer already, time to start thinking about Christmas. Christmas in July is a standard theme for quilt shops so we can get our projects and gifts ready just in time for the Holiday Season. We will be seeing holiday themed classes and events, be sure to take advantage of those that interest you. Thinking about the holidays might just help to cool us down a bit, in our mind anyway. Don t forget our quilts for the Headstart kids. The quilts are 42 by 54. Cutting 6 ½ squares works out nicely or a one piece of fabric in a fun print. Whatever we do the kids will appreciate. They are due in mid August and we need 50 of them so we need to get going. We can work on them during our chapter meetings so bring your sewing machine and let s get to work! STERLING HEIGHTS REC CENTER 2508 St Charles Place Village of Buttonwood Come out and sew with us all day from 11:30am to 3:50pm. Lots of fun for everyone. They even have special themes going on some Sunday s. Diane
Keep working on your Head Start project. We still need more quilts for 3 to 5 year olds. The pattern can be found in our notebook at Paradise or by contacting Esther. We need probably 35 to 40 more and they should be 42 x 54 60 inches. There should be a pillow attached and binding is optional. More info at all of our weekly meetings if you have any questions. Don t forget the pillow..can be attached after quilting and binding. Mystery Quilt..should we continue and do it again? Will Esther do this again? Many unanswered questions about this clue by clue quilt. We need to hear from you on whether or not you do want to do this again. See the one that some just competed.
JUNE BLOCK OF THE MONTH is called Aunt Dinah, and Esther has a board that she came up with that shows you how to put it together. So, if you joined the block of the month club check out the way it should be cut and put together. Here is a picture for you to follow. Due date is second Tuesday of July. Cute Tip. Quilting can be good exercise too! Keep your ironing board well away from your machine and get in the habit of getting up to press every seam as you sew Next month s block of the month will be presented by Arlene.what will she come up with? It is a wait and see. Joan Resch brought us this beautiful Bargello Heart quilt that she made at a workshop class with Esther. Thanks once again for sharing this peaceful quilt with us. Joan also had a motive to her madness for bringing in a quilt so soon. She wanted a picture so that she could get a picture to send into Janome for a possible prize. Good thinking Joan and we wish you luck. We think it should win. PS I did send her this picture. What is Bargello? Bargello is a technique for making intricate looking quilts that is actually quite simple thanks to speed cutting and sewing methods, in spite of its complicated look. Bargello quilts are made out of pieces of fabric that are square and rectangular, placed in such a way that creates motion and a flame like effect or in this case a heart.

See what it s all about. June 28 th Quilt of the Week Susan made this quilt for her Mother in 2000. It is a memory quilt using the bubble jet set 2000. Muslin and special solution and a lot of work. This quilt has photographs on the front and because her mother liked to travel the back material has travel places. This is such a special way to keep memories alive. Four generations, communion pictures, baby etc. Now you can transfer your photographs by using inkjet printed fabric sheets..maybe we could get someone to do a program on this. Need to mention this to Peg.
