Built in cllabratin with and fr the health prfessins, Ilis supprts the sharing f curriculum and materials amng prgrams, departments, schls and institutins, while maintaining the flexibility t accmmdate the unique practices within the diverse health prfessins cmmunity. Ilis v3 is a cmplete re-write f Ilis frm a classic web applicatin t an API first technlgy platfrm with an accmpanying frntend single-page applicatin. Ilis v3 is built upn the latest web technlgies, leveraging brad cmmunity input and cllabratin fr rapid iteratin and release f new features thugh cntinuus deplyment and delivery. Ilis v3 meets the rapidly changing needs and aspiratinal educatinal gals f the UCSF and UCI schls f Medicine, as well as the grwing demands f academic health educatin wrldwide. I use Ilis daily; it is the crnerstne f ur curriculum management. It has streamlined ur prcesses and wrkflws and has resulted in significant time-savings. But perhaps mre imprtantly, it prvides us with bth rbust curricular data and a user-centered calendar. It als interfaces with ur schl s Mdle instance, prviding us with further efficiencies. 2 Our Mtives The re-write f Ilis was mtivated by several immediate and cmpeting needs: With the rapidly shifting mdels in medical educatin ver the last decade, the existing applicatin was n lnger able t address the changing needs f the UCSF educatinal missin. Mvement tward cmpetency-based mdels f learning delivery, intrductin f greater cmplexity (such as earlier clinical expsure within medical educatin), and the increasing demands f accreditatin have demanded a respnse that wuld include adherence t new natinal standards and the flexibility t grw with the changes in ur lcal curricula. The cntemprary technlgy landscape has raised the expectatins f the Ilis user audience t include a mdern lk, feel, and perfrmance in an applicatin that can easily cmmunicate with external systems using industry-standard methdlgies. Ilis has been mdernized int an extensible platfrm, prviding ur users with: Fully tested cdebase, allwing fr rapid iteratin and deplyment t quickly respnd and adapt t new and changing user requirements.
