Workshops available in our Meadowbrook Art Studio [taxes NOT incl] Pictures are just samples as to give you an idea of the figurines, it just depends on YOUR imagination!!! Standing figurine: you will be making a standing figurine, positioned on a metal base starting from a wire frame, learning how to sculpt the body form with tin foil and masking tape. The body will be wrapped [like a mummy] with wrappers or T-shirt and after drying time, will be dressed with natural fabric and fibers/yarn for the wig. After the dressing is hardened enough, the figurine will be finished with a mix of varnish and pigment/acrylics using a dry brush technique or a patina. This figurine can be made 16 inch./40cm tall for the price of $ 105.00 or * 22inch. /55cm tall for the price of $135.00 Sitting figurine: you will be making a sitting figurine starting from a wire frame, learning how to sculpt the body form with tin foil and masking tape. For one figurine you ll be using a plaster head, arms and legs, for another you ll sculpt the whole body. The body will then be wrapped [like a mummy] with wrappers or T-shirt and after drying time, will be dressed with natural fabric and fibers/yarn for the wig. After the dressing is hardened enough, the figurine will be finished with a mix of varnish and pigment/acrylics using a dry brush technique or a patina. This figurine can be made for the price of $ 105 sculpted or for $ 125.00 or *$ 175.00 [plaster, small or big]
Bedouin figurines: or dessert people They are made on a wooden base, with a body made from a bloc of Styrofoam and a plaster head. They are wrapped like a mummy before we apply the pieces of rags onto the form. The multiple layers need a lot of drying time so we recommend making this figurine in 2 sessions as to allow the layers to dry properly before dry brushing them with colours and varnish. This figurine can be made for $ 105.00 small size or for *$ 165,00 big [1ft /30cm or 2ft/60cm high]
Valentine couple: During this workshop a double bodied figurine is made using the same technique of the standing figurine but from the waist up the statue will be split into 2 bodies holding onto each other [that can be either male or female per choice] in a beautiful embrace depicting the love and friendship between the two. This is obviously a workshop for more experienced participants that already had a chance to participate in a beginners class. The hight of this figurine is approx. a little less than 2 ft. The price for this course is *$ 185.00 Dancing Couple: This a different version of a 2 bodied couple. It is abstract and the figurines are made the same way the standing figurine is made, the difference is that the anatomy of the human bodie is used as an abstract and they are attached to eachother at the waist, but still visibly separate figurines. Once the statue is sculpted and wrapped a thickened paste is used to finish the figurine and smoothened out. The finish is making it look like a weathered bronze statue. The cost is *$ 175.00
Big Blue Heron: A majestic statue that will definitely have a huge impact on the looks of your garden!!! In this workshop you will make a bird figurine on an already prepared base as the bird s body and wires for neck and tail need to be tightly secured [glued] with a paste to the rebar and concrete or stone base. This workshop is a favorite amongst both beginners and experienced crafters. The base needs to be built up with tin foil and a lot of work goes into the details of this figurine. After the wrapping with Tshirt the bird is given wings, a crown, his feet are positioned on the stone base and the eyes are adorned with lashes in case you make a female bird. We do recommend a hands on experience with a smaller project first but if you are a craftsy person, it is a workshop that can be done without previous experience, you will only need a bit more guidance than when you do have a feel for working with a liquid polymer. This class is done in 2 sessions and costs *$ 200 for a Large one and $ 150 for the medium size; cost is $ 105 for the baby Blue Heron that is done in one class. Another great workshop for beginners is the Butterfly or Dragonfly workshop. You will make a frame with wings that is quite similar for each one of them, and thw wings will be covered with fabric for the butterfly and relief decoration for the dragonfly. On the butterfly wings I will help you draw a pattern that will be painted on the wings once everything is dried. The workshop for a small one approx 1ft 1/2 is $ 75.00 and takes
about half a day while making a big one of 2 ½ feet is done in 2 sessions and costs *$ 145.00 Fairy with wings: a workshop that will attract young and old. You basically make a figurine sitting on the edge of the table, with wings on the back. You can either make a male or female Fairy and for this figurine you might want to bring a little gem or something you have found on one of our beautiful beaches to put in the figurine s hand. It will be a remarkable way of displaying your keepsake or make the keepsake an even more valuable gift coming from the hands of a Fairy. This workshop is done in a day and costs $ 125.00
Turtle: the project for making a turtle is one that I worked on for publishing in the Paverpol Around The World book. It is a fun project that can be done in a full day or in 2 sessions, that can be either 2 mornings or 2 afternoons, where you make a wire frame and use a grilled chicken microwave dish as a mold for the turtle body. The legs, head and tail are wrapped with T-shirt while the upper and lower body shell is made with a clay. The shield can be decorated by rolling a pattern into the clay and colour the outlines of it as to make it visible. A great way of trying your hands on a different technique we use to make figurines. Cost of this workshop is *$ 135.00 Crafting with Paverpol: this is a variety of classes/techniques starting from $ 65.00 that can be done in half a day; you can work on a canvas or use a pre cut styrofoam or wooden base and make a wall hanging that can go in- or outdoors. These workshops can be tailored to your wishes and can be discussed if you wish to plan one of these fun classes A picture will help you make up your mind what to do:
