San Diego City/County Managers Association Welcome to San Diego County and the City/County Manager's Association (CCMA.) The San Diego County CCMA meets the 1s t Thursday of each month, 11:00 a.m. at the Marriott Hotel in Del Mar. The Regional Training Center (RTC) organizes and prepares the meeting agenda with the presiding Chairperson. A number of standing committees have been formed and managers assist dependent upon expertise, interest and need. If you would like to add something to the agenda, contact the Chairperson to discuss the appropriate meeting and placement on the agenda. A sample agenda is attached. Your city is billed on an annual basis for CCMA dues for the fiscal year. Your dues cover your attendance at monthly meetings and help off-set the cost of the annual retreat. If you choose to have an assistant attend CCMA meetings on a regular basis, dues will be billed for that person as well. A one to two day retreat is held usually in early spring. This retreat formalizes a work plan, reviews goals and previous action plans and provides time for a dynamic speaker as well as an opportunity to network on an informal basis. A roster of work and home numbers is attached for your use and contact with other managers is encouraged for outreach, problem solving, etc. In addition to staffing CCMA, the Regional Training Center (RTC) provides high quality training and organization development services to the local agencies in the County. The RTC was created as a Joint Powers Agency by the cities in San Diego County, the County itself, and the State of California. It is, "owned" by the San Diego cities and its success depends on your participation, suggestions, and use. Additional Information on RTC is attached. Welcome and good luck in your San Diego city manager's position. Michele Thompson Executive Director Regional Training Center 858 550-0040

d.... San Diego City/County!\tanagers As sociation ABOUT THE REGIONAL TRAINING CENTER The Regional Training Center (RTC) is a governmental agency created in 1972, by the cities in San Diego County, the County itself, and the State of California. The RTC was created to provide high quality training and organization development consulting services to public agencies at a reasonable cost. It is, "owned" by the San Diego cities and its success depends on your participation, suggestions, and use. The RTC Executive Board is comprised of all the City Managers in the County and the CAO. Operational oversight is provided by the RTC Executive Committee. Eight members of the Executive Board sit on the RTC Executive Committee which meets quarterly. Because the RTC offers these services exclusively to public agencies, our consultants understand the unique challenges public agencies are facing. The RTC's services are aimed at enhancing the ability of public sector organizations and the skills of their employees, to meet the needs of individual citizens and the community at large. We recognize the individual citizen as the ultimate beneficiary of our services. All RTC courses are built around the principles of adult learning. Participants are actively involved in the learning and course content relates directly to the practical real-world situations they face. RTC courses focus on skill building rather than theoretical discussions of the topic. Given this approach, we recommend that class size is limited to a maximum of 30 participants. We are committed to ensuring that any course we offer specifically meets our client's needs and objectives. Our consultants will tailor course content to meet an agency's specific needs. RTC consultants are highly experienced instructors with extensive backgrounds in the courses they will teach. Each is committed to creating positive learning environments that focus both on skill building and practical application of the learning. Our consultants include a number of women and members of diverse ethnic and cultural groups. Well planned, organization-wide training can have a significant impact on productivity, morale, and the quality of service provided to customers. We look forward to assisting you in accomplishing these goals.
