cards and Memories Design by: Judi watanabe

Cards and memories 1 Scrap your cards! Judi has an intriguing idea: use the same rubber stamp throughout the year to create beautiful cards for every occasion. Then preserve those cards and the memories that go with them by scrapbooking an album filled with duplicate cards and photos of the recipients and events. This project is so perfect it wears a halo. - Funky Xmas Pattern - Congratulations Permanent Black Ink Embossing Powders Pen Knife Adhesive - Chablis Gold Cord Tassel tools FEATURED PRODUCTS JudiKins Rubber Stamps - Country Halo - Origami Background - Calligraphic Flowers - Happy Wedding Day - Metallic Silver - Metallic Gold - Metallic Copper - Cherry Twinkle Pre-made Cards & Envelopes - Ultra Square - Plum A2 - Chili Red A2 supplies Cream Cardstock Black Cardstock Metallic Gold Cardstock Embossing Inkpad Metallic Gold Inkpad Eggplant Inkpad Heat Tool 1 16" Hole Punch Scissors Cutting Mat Scallop Edge Scissors 2" Circle Punch Ruler Starting your Page 1 Make a wedding card. Orient an Ultra Square greeting card from JudiKins with the fold on the left. Open the card and lay it with the outside facing up on the work surface. Stamp the Origami Background rubber stamp on the front of the card with embossing ink, lining up the stamp with the fold. Emboss the image with Chablis embossing powder from JudiKins with the heat tool.

2 For more information on embossing, watch Judi s Webisode, Elegant Embossing, available in the Archives. Ink a blank inkpad with Permanent Black Ink from JudiKins. Ink the Happy Wedding Day stamp and stamp the image on the front of the card, 1" from the fold and 2 " from the top edge. 2 Make a paper ribbon. Ink the Calligraphic Flowers stamp from JudiKins with embossing ink and stamp over the entire length of a 1" 6" strip of metallic gold cardstock. Emboss with Chablis embossing powder. Trim the strip to 1" 5 3 8". Set the paper ribbon aside. 3 Make a slider. Ink the Country Halo rubber stamp from JudiKins with metallic gold ink. Stamp on a piece of cream cardstock. Emboss with Metallic gold embossing powder. Cut out the image with scissors. Make a tab in the center of the slider. Punch two holes " apart with a 1 16" hole punch on one inside circle of the halo. Punch another set of holes on the opposite edge of the circle. These will act as stoppers so you don t accidentally cut beyond the interior of the halo. 4 Place the halo on a cutting mat. Using a pen knife from Judikins and a ruler as a guide, cut a slit from one hole down to the opposite hole on the inside edge of the halo. Cut a slit between the remaining two holes making a center tab in the halo. Use scissors to cut out the half moon shapes on either side of the tab.

3 5 Slide the paper ribbon from Step 2 through the halo from Step 4. Adhere the paper ribbon down the right side of the card " from the edge. Tie a decorative gold cord tassel around the fold to complete the card. Make a congratulations card. Open up a Plum A2 greeting card from JudiKins and lay it on the work surface with the outside facing up and the fold at the top of the card. Stamp a scattered pattern of the Country Halo image across the front of the card using eggplant ink. 6 Using the Congratulations rubber stamp and Metallic Bronze embossing powder from Judikins, stamp and emboss the word congratulations across the front of the card 1 from the bottom edge. 7 Stamp and emboss three Country Halos using Metallic Copper, Metallic Gold, and Metallic Silver embossing powders on a scrap of plum cardstock. Cut out the halos. To cut out the centers, make an arcing cut between two leaves of the halo. Use detail scissors to cut out the center. Connect the three halos together by lining up and interlocking the cuts made. Tape the three pieces together. Adhere the halos to the front of the card from Step 6.

4 Make a gatefold Santa card. Open up a Chili Red A2 greeting card from JudiKins and lay it on the work surface with the outside facing up. Orient the card so the center fold runs vertically. Make vertical scorelines 2 1 8" from the left edge and 2 " from the right edge. Fold along the two outer scorelines. 8 Open up the card. Use embossing ink and stamp the Funky Xmas Pattern rubber stamp from JudiKins to fill the left flap with the trees image. Emboss with Cherry Twinkle embossing powder. Repeat for the right flap. 9 Turn the card over and fold in the left flap. Cut a 1 " 5 " strip from white cardstock using scallop edge scissors. Adhere the strip to the front of the left flap with half of the strip on the flap and half of the strip hanging off the edge. Open the card and adhere a photo and a holiday greeting to the inside. Make Santa s belt buckle. Stamp the Country Halo rubber stamp on black cardstock. Emboss with Metallic gold embossing powder. Cut out the halo. Cut a tab in the center of the halo as in Step 4, but cut the tab extending from the solid circle bordering the outer leaves at the top down to the solid circle at the bottom. Cut out the resulting half moons to make the buckle. Cut a 9 7 8" 1 1 8" strip of black cardstock for the belt. Slide one end of the belt through the buckle. Secure the center tab of the buckle to the belt with adhesive. Close the card. Center the buckle over the white strip. Wrap the belt around the card, folding it at the sides. Adhere the center section of the belt to the back of the card. Slide the unadorned end of the belt through the buckle to close the card. 10

5 11 Make a page to display the Santa Card in a card folio. Start by making a pocket. Seal a matching Chili Red envelope from JudiKins and place on a cutting mat. Use a pen knife and a ruler to cut 1 " off of the left end of the envelope. Notch the envelope. Use a 2" circle punch and punch a half circle in the top layer of the open edge of the envelope. Assemble the page. Adhere the envelope to the right lower corner of an 8 " square piece of black cardstock. Add a title to commemorate the occasion for which the card was made. Add photos of the event or participants. Judi framed her photos with gold embossed Country Halos. Add ribbon or other embellishments to finish the page. Make pages for the other two cards. For the wedding card, Judi started with an 8 " square cream foundation page. She added a panoramic photo of the bride and groom and a title block embellished with gold hearts. To make the pocket, she sealed a matching square envelope and cut 2" off of the top. 12 For her congratulations card, Judi made a pocket from a bronze envelope, cutting 1 " off of the top of the sealed envelope. She added a panoramic photo across the bottom and a smaller one on the side of the page. A journaling block and some twill ribbon finish the page, so Judi can remember both the card she made and event it was for. Card Folio Judi created a custom album to store her stamped cards and memories throughout the year. She stamped the outside of a pre-made album, added some ribbons, and finally a Patera charm to title her album. Whenever she creates a card for someone she always makes an extra one for herself. By keeping them in this album she can be sure she never sends the same card to a person twice. The pocket pages are great reminders of the special events during the year.

6 Garden Party This garden party invitation uses the Country Halo rubber stamp combined with the Japan 4 Mini Bollio, both from JudiKins, to create an elegant decoration under a sheet of vellum. The commemorative page features halos stamped lightly in the background and a photo from the party. Groovy Birthday This groovy page holds a cool cat birthday card made using the Black Cat stamp and the Mod Packages cube. The envelope pocket is stamped to match the card and a photo of the birthday celebration is featured. Congratulations You ve just completed your Cards and Memories, but the fun doesn t stop there!
