Crazy Seminole Cell Phone bag By Soni Grint Have some fun making this crazy seminole cell phone bag. Learn how to make a basic seminole pieced unit and a foundation pieced crazy patchwork pocket while creating this bag for your cell phone*. * The bag front and back will be made larger and then cut to size for your cell phone Sewing Supplies: Any HUSQVARNA VIKING Sewing or Embroidery machine ¼ Piecing Foot (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) 412785545 Clear Open Toe Foot (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) 413031945 Sensor One Step Buttonhole Foot (1,6,7) or use the 412815102 Buttonhole Foot that came with your machine Button Sew On Foot (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) 412934545 INSPIRA Fusible No-Show Mesh 620111896 INSPIRA Cut-A-Way Stabilizer 620110896 INSPIRA Tear A Way Stabilizer 620120001 Pins Marking Utensil Scissors (1) ¾ to 1 Button Cut: For Seminole Patchwork Back: 3 2 x 13 strips (use at least 2 different fabrics) 2 3 x 12 strips for sides of patchwork 1 8 x 12 INSPIRA Fusible No-Show Mesh a trademark of Husqvarna AB. For Main Front: 1 6 x 12 woven fabric 1 6 x 12 INSPIRA Fusible No-Show Mesh For Solid Pocket: 1 6 x 4 woven fabric For Crazy Patch Pocket: 1 6 x 4 INSPIRA Cut-A-Way stabilizer for foundation 1 3 x 3 square for center of crazy patch 6 12 coordinating strips of fabric cut 1-1 ½ wide by varying lengths (you will need enough strips to cover the foundation piece) 1 6 x 2 strip to bind the crazy patch pocket Prepare the Seminole Pieced Unit 1. Set your Sewing Machine for a ¼ seam. Move your needle to the right to 2.2 and use the right side of your A presser foot or Attach the ¼ Piecing foot 2. Place the center 2 x13 strip of fabric and one other 2 x13 strip of fabric right sides together 3. Sew along one long side using a ¼ seam. 4. Open and press the seam to the center strip. 5. Place the other 2 x13 strip of fabric, right side to the right side of the center fabric strip. 6. Sew along the long edge using a ¼ seam. 7. Open and press to the center strip. 8. Cut 2 pieces across the 3 sewn fabric strips. You will have 6 pieces with a little left over. 9. Off set 2 of the 6 pieces by one strip, ensuring the center block corners touch. (Pin if desired) 10. Sew 2 pieces with a ¼ seam. a trademark of Husqvarna AB. All rights reserved. Page 2 of 5

11. Make 3 2 piece units and then sew these together to make a 6 piece unit. 12. Trim the long edges of the 6 piece unit to just even the sides. 13. Sew one of the 3 x12 strips to each long edge of the 6 piece unit using a ¼ seam. 14. Trim corners of center unit then press seams to the center. 15. Iron Fusible No-Show Mesh to back of seminole unit. This seminole unit is the back of your bag! Prepare the Crazy Patch Pocket 16. Lay the Cut-A-Way foundation piece on the table. 17. Using the 3 x3 square, cut edges to make the piece have at least 5 sides. Keep the piece as large as possible. 18. Place this piece in the center of the foundation, right side up. 19. Place one random strip, right side down, aligning the edge with a side of the center piece. 20. Sew along the raw edges with a ¼ seam. 21. Flip the strip right side up and finger press. 22. Trim strip, leaving a little more fabric than just the size of the center. 23. Add another strip, right side down, to cover the ends of the 2 sewn pieces and another side of the center piece. 24. Sew along this strip with a ¼ seam. 25. Flip the strip right side up and finger press. 26. Continue to add strips around the center, covering each edge. 27. Cover the whole foundation piece with strips. 28. Snap on the Open Toe decorative foot and sew decorative stitches on the crazy patch seams. 29. Trim the strips to the size of the foundation piece. 30. Fold the 6 x 2 strip in half lengthwise, wrong sides together to create a binding for the crazy patch pocket. a trademark of Husqvarna AB. All rights reserved. Page 3 of 5

31. Place the unfinished long edge of the binding across the top of the right side of the crazy patch pocket. 32. Sew the strip on using a ¼ seam. 33. Bring the folded edge of the binding to the back of the pocket. 34. Press in place. 35. Sew a straight stitch ¼ from the bound edge on the right side of the crazy patch pocket, catching the binding on the back. Optional: Use a decorative stitch and the Open Toe foot to sew down the binding. This crazy patch unit is one front pocket of your bag! Construct your bag front 36. Iron the 6 x 12 Fusible No Show Mesh to the back of the main front fabric. 37. Snap on the A foot. 38. On the solid pocket, turn under ¼ then ⅜ and sew a straight stitch to finish the edge. 39. Place the unfinished edge of the solid pocket approximately 1 from the bottom of the main front. 40. Use a small zig zag to stitch the pocket in place across the unfinished edge. 41. Align the unfinished edge of the crazy patch pocket with the unfinished edge of the main front. 42. Baste around the edges of the pockets to hold in place. Finish your bag 43. Measure your phone! Phone width + 2 = the width of your bag Phone height + 3 = the length of your bag 44. Cut both front and back pieces to the proper size. a trademark of Husqvarna AB. All rights reserved. Page 4 of 5

45. Finish the top of both the bag front and back. Turn under ¼ then ⅜ to finish the edge. 46. Mark your button hole placement ¾ from the top, on the right side of the front piece. 47. Mark your button placement ¾ from the top, on the wrong side of the back piece (seminole unit). 48. Place a small piece of INSPIRA Tear A Way stabilizer behind the buttonhole placement. 49. Attach the Sensor One-Step buttonhole foot. 50. Set the buttonhole size to the size of your button. 51. Sew your buttonhole. 52. Snap on the Sew On Button foot. 53. Place the button in the jaw of the foot. 54. Set your sewing machine for sewing on a button. 55. Ensure the needle goes into the button holes. 56. Sew on your button. 57. With right sides together, sew around the 3 outside edges of the bag with a ¼ seam, leaving the top finished edges open. 58. Turn inside out. Enjoy! a trademark of Husqvarna AB. All rights reserved.
