Ths manual ncludes also necessary nstructons concernng the nstallaton and operaton as well as the proceedng n case of falures. Ths manual regards the repeater power supply n ant-explosve, ntrnscally safe verson. 2. LIST OF USER SET Power supples are delvered n sngle and/or multple packs. Every supply s delvered together wth a Product Certfcate whch also s a guarantee card. A batch of transmtters s suppled together wth the User s Manual IO.ZS-30.31Ex.02(ENG) On a customer s request, a Declaraton of Complance and/or approprate certfcate wll be suppled. Two last documents can be found at www.aplsens.pl. 3. APPLICATION OF ZS 30Ex1 AND ZS 31Ex1 REPEATER POWER SUPPLY 3.1. ZS 30Ex1 and ZS 31Ex1 repeater power supply are the accompanyng devces ntended for the cooperaton wth two-wre transducers nstalled n exploson-hazard zones, suppled from one of abovementoned suppler and formng 4...20 ma transmsson sgnal on the lne. They supply the measurng crcut of transducers (called the nput crcut ) wth the voltage of nomnal value from 15 to 25V, they receve the transmsson sgnal 4...20 ma from transducers and they convert t nto one of unfed output sgnals. Input, output and supply crcuts are galvancally separated. It ensures a galvanc separaton of the transducer nstalled on the object n exploson-hazard zone from devces operatng n the safe zone, such as: controllers, ndcators, data collectng systems, etc. The applcaton of solator reduces the nfluence of nterferences on operaton of these devces and facltates the confguraton of measurng systems. 3.2. ZS 30Ex1 and ZS 31Ex1 repeater power supply are mounted n strp enclosures. ZS 30Ex1 s suppled by 24V DC and ZS 31Ex1 s suppled by 230V 50Hz. The supples should be nstalled n closed cabnets or enclosures, n dry envronments free from dusts and aggressve gases. Repeater power supply are ntended for nstallaton exclusvely n safe zones. 4 IO.ZS-30.31Ex.02(ENG) 6. PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION. CONSTRUCTION 6.1. Electronc system The electronc system of ZS 30Ex1 and ZS 31Ex1 repeater power supply conssts of 3 followng crcuts separated from each other (block dagram of the electronc system s shown on fg. 3): a. Supply crcut: - ZS 30Ex1: the man functonal unts of the supply crcut nclude a protectve system, stablzer and converter. Ths crcut s suppled wth the nomnal voltage 24V DC and t provdes galvancally separated voltages for supply of nput and output crcuts. Supply crcut s protected aganst the exceedng of permssble voltage (24V ± 10%) and polarty changes by protectve crcut. Ths system conssts of 3 tyrstors connected n parallel, whch are ntated from two ponts: power supply nput and output of the stablzer supplyng the converter; when the values of allowed voltage are exceeded. Moreover the system s equpped wth a fuse, whch dsconnects the supply system. - ZS 31Ex1: the supply crcut s adapted to network supply 230V 50Hz. Two network transformers are appled, whch supply separately the part of repeater power supply system ncludng the nput to the hazard zone and the crcut of output sgnals to the safe zone. The system of nput to the hazard zone and the output system are suppled by specally desgned and manufactured transformers. The col forms are equpped wth approprately selected nsulatng barrers. The transformers are resstant to shortng n secondary crcut and they are equpped wth thermc fuses (100 C) protectng aganst excessve heatng n case of ntra-col shortng. Transformers and the thermc fuses are encapsulated wth hardenable epoxde or epoxde-polyurethane resn. b. Input system The nput system can provde the voltage wth on of the fve nomnal values: from 15V to 25V, n order to supply the transducer nstalled n exploson-hazard zone through a two-wre lne. The 4 20mA sgnal, whch s forced on the lne by the transducer, s ntroduced to the amplfer of separator nput system and then t s sent, through an optosolator, to the output crcut. The nput crcut s equpped wth a protectve system lmtng the short-crcut current and nput voltage to the hazard zone. Ths system conssts of a seral current lmter, contanng durable resstors and 3 Zener dodes, connected n parallel, for voltage lmtng. Nomnal voltage can be 15V, 18V, 20V, 22V and 25V. The elements of ths system are encapsulated wth epoxde or epoxde-polyuethane resn, they are placed n enclosure made of nsulatng materal and they form a knd of barrer desgnated as BEx. c. Output crcut The output crcut converts the sgnal from the nput crcut nto one of a standard output sgnals. From the output crcut sde the repeater power supply can cooperate wth devces suppled by network transformers, from the network wth nomnal voltage of 230V, 50Hz. The output crcut s protected wth TVS or Zener dodes and PTC thermstor. 6.2. Constructon The electronc system of ZS 30Ex1 s mounted on the boards placed n a strp enclosure (fg. 5.) and n case of ZS 31Ex1 n the enclosure shown on fg. 4. A ratng plate as well as nformaton plates are placed on each enclosure. On the front panel there s a LED sgnalng that supply voltage s connected, and nsde of 2 openngs there are the knobs for zero and range correctons. The knobs are accessble from outsde. The enclosures are adapted to be nstalled on T 35 or T 32 strps. The termnals for connecton of ntrnscally safe nput crcut are marked wth a blue plate.

5 IO.ZS-30.31Ex.02(ENG) 7. PLACE FOR REPEATER POWER SUPPLY INSTALLATION. 7.1. ZS 30Ex1 and ZS 31Ex1 repeater power supply n strp enclosures must be nstalled n explosve-safe, dry, free from dusts and aggressve gases places and they should be protected from mechancal hazards. They are desgned for nstallaton on strps (T 35 or T 32) and they requre the cabnets or enclosures wth locks, preventng the access of unauthorzed persons. 7.2. If the place of nstallaton does not meet the envronment condtons specfed n pont 7.1, then the enclosure or nstallaton cabnet must have the protecton class of at least IP54 or hgher, dependng on specfc condtons. Smlarly t s recommended to use addtonal enclosures or cabnets wth ncreased protecton class n case when t s predcted that the devces wll operate at mnus ambent temperatures. 7.3. In case when wall-enclosures are used, then the enclosure contanng one or several solators nstalled on T 35 or T 32 strp has the same status as nstallaton cabnet,.e. t s a place of ntrnscally safe devces nstallaton (repeater power supply n ths case). 8. ASSEMBLY AND CONNECTIONS 8.1. ZS 30Ex1 and ZS 31Ex1 repeater power supply should be nstalled n vertcal poston, n accordance wth front panel poston ventlatng openngs should be at the top and the bottom of power supples. There should be a free space left over, under and between the power supples, allowng them to be cooled by crculatng ar (see fg. 2). 8.2. ZS 30Ex1 and ZS 31Ex1 repeater power supply should be connected n accordance wth fg. 3. Only the crcuts of ntrnscally safe devces (e.g. converters) of a and b categores, not havng nternal sources of power supply, can be connected to
and
nput termnals, whch are marked wth a blue plate. Supply and measurng lne to the hazard zone (nput crcut) s made of A or B conductor, n accordance wth EN 50039 (see pont 8.5). Maxmal values of crcut nductance and capacty, whch are specfed n the certfcate (see pont 5.1) cannot be exceeded. It s recommended to lead the sgnal lnes wth twsted par cable, and n case of bg electromagnetc nterferences the twsted par cables should be shelded addtonally. It should be avoded puttng the sgnal cables along to other nterferng cables, e.g. n the vcnty of bg energy recevers or along wth feedng and nductve load cables. 8.3. The cooperatng devces, located n the safe zone and suppled wth maxmal voltage of 250 VAC through a network transformer can be connected to <0> and <0 > termnals of ZS 30Ex1 and ZS 31Ex1 output crcuts. 8.4. In case when ZS 30Ex1 and ZS 31Ex1 devces are mounted on strps, both n cabnets and wall-enclosures, a dstance of mnmum 50 mm between the termnals of ntrnscally safe and non-ntrnscally safe crcuts must be kept. If such a dstance s not kept, then an nsulatng or metal, grounded barrer should be appled. An addtonal fxng of nstallaton conductors n the vcnty of termnals s recommended. 8.5. Adjacent nstallatons and devces should be mounted n a way not volatng the condtons of separaton between ntrnscally safe and non-ntrnscally safe crcuts (approprate dstances, barrers, addtonal cable fxngs, nsulaton status, etc.). The nscrptons nformng about the contents and place when the cables are led out should be placed on cabnets and enclosures. 8.6. In case of ZS 30Ex1, f the nfluence of electrc surges s expected from the sde of 24V supply (e.g. n case of bg dstance from 24 V power supply to the separator), then t s recommended to equp the 24V supply lne wth overvoltage protecton. 8.7. From 230 V power supply sde the cablng of ZS 31Ex1 devce must be n accordance wth applcable standards regardng the safety and electromagnetc compatblty as well as wth local rules and regulatons. In case of nterferences from 230V supply t s recommended to apply ant-nterference flters. The cables connected to the flter output cannot be placed nearest to the nterfered cables (e.g. relays or contactors controllng crcuts). 8.8. Basc requrements specfed n EN 50039 standard for A and B type cables appled n supply and measurng crcuts n hazard zone.

6 IO.ZS-30.31Ex.02(ENG) 8.8.1. Insulaton thckness of the cables should be adapted to the materal type, but not smaller than 0.2mm. Strength of cable nsulaton: 2UN, but not less than 500V AC per conductor 500V AC between cable sheld and connected strands 1000VAC between two group of strands, each contanng half of connected strands. 8.8.2. No non-ntrnscally safe crcut can be run n a mult-strands cable. The strands from crcuts n maxmal voltage exceedng 60 V should not be run n the one cable. 8.8.3. Cables should be protected aganst damages by placng them, for example, n cable trays, protectve tubes, cable racks or by applcaton of sold fxngs, etc. 9. SETTING AND ADJUSTMENT The followng parameters of ZS 30Ex1 and ZS 31Ex1 repeater power supply are factory settng (accordng to customer s requrements): supply voltage of nput crcut, tme constant and one of output sgnals specfed n techncal data. The user can only make correcton of the begnnng and wdth of the range. There are 2 openngs on the enclosure front panel, allowng to access the potentometers knobs, marked as zero and range. The correctons of zero-range settngs can be make e.g. as t s shown on fg.1. 10. INSPECTIONS, REPAIRS AND SPARE PARTS 10.1. Perodc nspectons. 10.1.1. Durng normal operaton ZS 30Ex1 and ZS 31Ex1 repeater power supply do not requre any mantenance operatons and the nspectons should be conducted perodcally, n accordance wth the requrements specfed n control standards applcable for users of ant-explosve equpment. External condton of devce should be checked durng an nspecton. The followng should be checked: - f there are no traces of mechancal damages, - the fxngs of cable connectons and termnals have not been loosen, - ratng and other plates are not damaged and legble. 10.1.2. Check the value of short-crcut current of nput crcut, connectng a mllammeter to
,
termnals and readng the ndcaton. The value of short-crcut current should not exceed the values gven n table 1. Checkng and correcton of characterstcs settngs should be conducted e.g. as t s shown on fg.1. Check the value of voltage supplyng the converter n hazard zone, connectng the voltmeter to
and
termnals. The ndcatons should be n accordance wth the values gven n Table 1. 10.2. Non-perodcal nspectons Non-perodcal nspectons are conducted when the solators could be subjected to harmful mechancal or electrcal hazards or n cases when any abnormaltes n devce operaton are detected. 10.2.1. Some typcal symptoms of neffcency a) It apples to ZS-30Ex1 - Sgnal LED on the front panel s not lt, no sgnal nput (termnals P, P-) and output (termnals 0, 0 -) and the termnal voltage (V, V-) voltage 24VDC ± 10%. Such falures usually means damage to the power crcut fuse (fuse ppe, glass or ceramc Ø5x20, In = 250mA, Un = 250V, fast, compatble wth IEC60127 or equvalent standard). Fuse exchange s permssble by the servce user. Access to the fuse s after the sldng of the part housng and removng of the fuse cover. These actvtes can be made after swtched off a supply voltage - If the LED s lt and the lack of nput and output sgnals- the assessment of dsablty and ts repar can do the manufacturer or an entty authorzed by hm only. b) It apples to ZS-31Ex1 In case of neffcacy wth symptoms as n p. a), the assessment of damage and repars can be dong only by the manufacturer or entty authorzed by the manufacturer. 10.3. If any abnormaltes are detected n the functonng of the measurng system contanng the repeater power supply, then also the other elements of the crcut, such as: transducer, sgnal lnes, and eventually the characterstcs of repeater power supply should be checked. Improper relatons between the nput and output sgnals (characterstcs error) can ndcate that the convertng system s damaged.
