P A G E 5 Interview with Doug Douglas As part of our Meet the Officers series, we are giving the Chapter some insight into who the Officers are, how they view audit as a profession, and what their lives are like outside the office. This month we spoke with Doug Douglas, Vice- President of the IIA Memphis Chapter and Audit Advisor at FedEx. A native of Memphis, TN; Doug is an auditor with several years of experience in the industry. Doug joined the IIA Memphis Chapter in 2011 coming from the IIA Nashville Chapter where he was a member since 2001. Before assuming the Vice- President role, he was the chapter secretary. Since joining the Memphis Chapter, he s played an instrumental role in helping the Chapter s obtain incorporation status. As a result, the IIA Memphis Chapter was incorporated in 2013. Doug s desire to become a chapter officer stemmed from his commitment to helping the chapter develop and maintain a solid network of audit professionals within the Memphis area. He enjoys watching Tennessee State University Tigers and Tennessee Titans football. He s also a Memphis Grizzlies fan! Doug s advice for new auditors is to always seek to gain new knowledge, make an effort to stay updated on the latest audit trends and practices, and don t allow your audit practices to be stagnant in an everchanging business world. Next month s newsletter will include an interview with the Memphis Chapter s Program s Director, Clint Landman.
