Flexibility Image small areas full-size images as small as 5.6mm x.5mm Image large areas up to 15cm x 20cm Switch between high and low resolution modes with one click of the mouse. Switch between small and large areas with intuitive optical zoom and focus controls. The moorflpi-2 offers the flexibility of both high-resolution and standard-resolution modes in a single instrument, without compromising on performance. The moorflpi-2 s specs include: images with up to 1,000,000 pixels/cm 2 10µm pixel resolution optional temporal processing mode for true high-resolution 2. Flexible working distances 3. Zoom Accurate, reproducible imaging without the inconvenience of a fixed focal length. Image in high-resolution at a distance convenient to you 10-38cm The moorflpi-2 offers the freedom to work at whatever distance is more practical or convenient for you, between 10-38cm. Easy focus and zoom controls eliminate the need for precise positioning even in high-resolution mode. Simply zoom to your area of interest. Variable motorised zoom lens controlled by software and / or panel buttons No recalibration required between zoom levels Zoom optically to areas as small as 5.6mm x.5mm 10µm pixel resolution Zoom to 1,000,000 pixels/cm 2 Easily adjust image area without repositioning Live video display for easy alignment. The moorflpi-2 s easy, intuitive motorised auto focus and zoom controls allow you to quickly and simply zoom in to the area you want to image, without the need to reposition the subject or the imager. Optical zoom is one of the reasons the moorflpi-2 can image in both standard resolution and high resolution in a single instrument (motorised zoom and auto 3
focus are controlled by software and / or panel buttons). The moorflpi-2 s optical zoom will image areas in full resolution at 5.6mm x.5mm, with pixels as small as 10µm. Digital photographers will be familiar with the benefits of optical zoom over digital zoom: optical zoom is considered a true zoom, employing lenses to enlarge the image before it reaches the detector. Conversely, digital zoom only enlarges the image after it has reached the detector. Hence digital zoom does not increase the level of detail; it merely enlarges the pixels you have already captured. The moorflpi-2 also includes an additional digital zoom function. Measured data is consistent between zoom levels, with no need for recalibration after zooming. You can image an area at any zoom level, with the moorflpi-2 at any working distance, and be confident of the reproducibility of your data. 4. Clarity Original Optical Zoom Digital Zoom To view the marked region in more detail we could use optical or digital zoom. the moorflpi-2 s optical zoom allows you to view small areas in great detail up to 1 million pixels/cm 2...enlarging the same region instead using digital zoom, the region is enlarged but no extra detail is added. Remove reflections from your images - built-in polarising filter eliminates specular reflection from shiny tissue. It is normal to see some areas of higher reflectivity even in normal human skin. moorflpi-2 incorporates a polarising filter to minimise these reflections. The result is a clear, consistent blood flow image, free from unusable areas of high reflection. 5. Quality True high-resolution images 1 million pixels/cm 2 10µm pixel resolution Temporal processing mode for genuine high resolution 5x5 pixel Spatial Processing mode for optimum speckle contrast calculations Switch effortlessly between Spatial and Temporal processing Spatial vs Temporal Processing: with the moorflpi-2 you can switch between Temporal Processing and Spatial Processing with a simple click of the mouse. Temporal and Spatial processing can both be used in Laser Speckle Contrast Analysis, and both methods can potentially be used to produce a usable flux (blood flow) image. To calculate a flux value for a particular point, there are two options: Spatial Processing: Calculate flux based on the variation in speckle contrast over a small group of adjacent pixels Temporal Processing: Calculate flux based on the variation in speckle contrast of a single pixel over a short period of time. 4
With the moorflpi-2 s Spatial Processing mode, the image is split into groups of 5x5 pixels. A flux value is calculated based on the contrast variation over this 5x5 cell. Moor s experienced development team experimented with a range of cell sizes, including 3x3 and x pixel cells, and discovered that a cell size of 5x5 pixels produces the best quality flux image. Cells smaller than this were found to result in a less reliable flux image. The moorflpi-2 s Spatial Processing mode uses a 5x5 pixel cell size with no overlapping. This is also why the moorflpi-2 offers a Temporal Processing option to achieve true high-resolution images. The moorflpi-2 s Temporal Processing calculations look at a single pixel in the source data so you can produce highresolution images and still be confident that your data is not being oversampled (there are no cells being overlapped). This means a high-resolution temporally-processed image is a genuine high-resolution image. With the moorflpi-2 s Temporal Processing mode, a resolution of 580 x 52 pixels means speckle contrast has been calculated for each of the individual 580 x 52 pixels in the image. The moorflpi-2 s Temporal Processing mode is the best way to get a true high resolution blood flow image. moorflpi-2 Spatial Processing Blood Flow Image Source Data The moorflpi-2 s spatial processing mode creates each pixel in the blood flow image using cells of 5x5 pixels in the source data. Three pixels have been marked in red / blue in this example as an illustration. Each pixel in the blood flow image is produced by a unique set of pixels in the source data. moorflpi-2 Temporal Processing Blood Flow Image Source Data The moorflpi-2 s Temporal Processing mode produces true highresolution, because each pixel is produced only by the corresponding single pixel in the unprocessed source data. 5
