Page 3 Hip Hop Here's another quilt from Laura Heine, in her signature collage style, this time smaller than her Lulu the elephant, and a great way to learn the technique. We have a limited number of kits (reserve one soon!), or use your own fabrics, especially if you have smaller scraps you'd like to use up. You ll learn to fuse your fabrics, cut them, and then position them just right for your very own Hip Hop Bunny. With the use of templates, you will cut out all the pieces you need to finish your unique piece of furniture. The remainder of our time is spent learning how to sew 1/4 of your tuffet cover together. Page 4 Free Motion Quilting Using Rulers Machine quilting using rulers on a domestic sewing machine has been getting a lot of attention in the quilting world recently. If you ve purchased the Bernina 72 foot and ruler kit and want to get started using them, this 2-session class is for you. In the first 3-hour class, you ll learn how to use the Bernina rulers and practice on muslin. You ll play with the 5 rulers that come in the Bernina starter set. In the second 3 -hour class, you ll work with the rulers on a simple table runner you ve made prior to class. Working with rulers will open a whole new world of feemotion quilting to you. Page 6 Quilts for Kids On the first Tuesday of each month a group of charity-minded quilters meets at PQW to sew together for the organization, Quilts for Kids. Quilts are given to children who are ill, abused, or in difficult situations who could use the comfort of a quilt made for them. Experienced quilters only, please. Our monthly group is open to anyone who would like to join and learn English Paper Piecing (EPP). This quilt-along lasts 5 sessions. In this club you will receive EPP advice from the instructor, see what others are making, and sit and stitch for two uninterrupted hours. Along the way you will visit with friends old and new, learn the benefit of slow sewing and make a lovely project by hand. **If you are new to English Paper piecing, you must attend a how-to session for an additional fee. See below for dates and times. Below are the club dates for the first half of 2018. Please sign up for either Wednesday 10:30 12:30 am, Wednesday 7 9 pm (with one exception) or Thursday 10:30 12:30 pm. We will have one makeup session in June date TBD. Let s say that a class you're interested in requires rotary skills, and you re still snipping along with scissors. Well a 1-hour private class will bring you up to speed. Or say that you really want to get the hang of paper-piecing or some other skill. Or maybe our classes just don t fit in your schedule.
