Winter may be upon us, with shorter days and a drop in temperature outside. Nonetheless, there is a warm welcome awaiting you at our next fair early in January in Mayfair, in the heart of London's shopping district. The five star London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square will help us kick off 2016 in style with the help of our specialist exhibitors, who are working to gather together fabulous stock to enthral you whether you are a collector, interior designer or simply enjoy surrounding yourself with beautiful and unique items. Our calendar for 2016 has changed slightly. Further details of our four fairs next year can be found below, starting with London. You will see that we are returning to Petworth Park after the successful launch last May, while the fair at Harewood in West Yorkshire is moving to a June date for 2016. We will send you another e-newsletter about these two fairs nearer the time. We look forward to seeing you at The Mayfair Antiques & Fine Art Fair or any of our other fairs next year. In the meantime, have a very happy festive season! Ingrid Nilson Director, The Antiques Dealers Fair Limited
THE MAYFAIR ANTIQUES & FINE ART FAIR Thursday 7 - Sunday 10 January 2016 Venue: Opening hours: The London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, London W1K 6JP (entrance in Duke Street) Thursday 12.00-21.00, Friday 11.00-18.00, Saturday 11.00-18.00, Sunday 11.00-17.00 The fourth incarnation of this, our flagship event, returns to the West End of London for four days in early January. Some 40 expert dealers are currently gearing up to bring their best stock. We have some fascinating rare pieces for sale, including an exciting collection of photographs: five unique images Andy Warhol took of Mick Jagger, Blondie (Debbie Harry), The Jacksons with Don King, Simon Le Bon and Ozzy Osbourne, in which Warhol also appears in the background. Amongst the antique and designer jewellery, there is a very unusual French silver pendant depicting the forward gunner (French Corporal Louis Quenalt with pilot, Sergeant Joseph Frantz, behind) leaning over his machine gun, on a World War One fighter plane, to shoot down an enemy plane, set over a blue plique-à-jour sky, c1914. Marking another historic French event is an Eiffel Tower clock with striking movement by Japy Frères, brought by BBC Antiques Roadshow clock expert, Richard Price. The clock, c1890, was probably made to celebrate the opening of the Eiffel Tower in Paris the previous year. We will have beautiful sculpture, paintings and traditional antique furniture with several centuries of history, as well as the increasingly popular Art Deco and mid-20th century pieces, together with accessories. For wine buffs, an extremely unusual Commonwealth silver wine taster, made in London in 1659 might appeal. A treat for lovers of fine English porcelain comes in the form of a rare Spode porcelain pineapple stand, dating from around 1815, when wealthy British landowners had gardeners and greenhouses to rear this exotic fruit, a decorative sign of hospitality and welcome.
