andy Cane Pop-Up Card Project created by Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores SUPPLIES & TOOLS: Cardstock: white, green, light red 12"x12" Paper, cream holly print Glitter alphabet stickers, black Self-adhesive rhinestones Red marker Paper trimmer Scissors X-Acto knife Self-healing cutting mat Pencil Ruler Stylus Glue stick (or adhesive of your choice) Provided pattern DIRECTIONS: 1. Cut a 12"x6" strip of white cardstock; score, fold, and trim uneven edges if necessary. 2. Cut three 5 3 4" squares of cream holly print paper. Attach one to the front of the card with glue. On the remaining two, use an X-Acto knife and self-healing cutting mat to cut out tree shapes that are vertically centered, approximately 2" from each edge of what will be the two panels on the inside of the card. 3. Cut a rectangle of light red cardstock 2 1 2"H x 3 1 4"W. Hill fold (a fold oriented upward) at the center vertical line and also at narrow flap on each end. Glue flaps to the inside of card, so the card opens and closes smoothly. 4. Cut candy cane pop-up pattern from light red cardstock. With red marker, add diagonal stripes. Make hill and valley folds as indicated by the fold lines on the pattern. Glue flaps to the inside of the card, making sure that when closed, the candy canes do not extend beyond the top margin of the card. Open and close the card a few times, to make certain the flaps are correctly positioned. Cut 2 single candy canes from light red cardstock; add stripes, and glue behind the pop-up candy canes. 5. Cut the inside cuff pattern from white cardstock. Hill fold vertically at the center and also at narrow flap on each end. Position between the stocking and the candy canes. Before gluing, make certain the candy canes have enough room to fold inside the cuff. If there is insufficient room, cut a slightly wider cuff. 6. Cut mini stockings from light red cardstock and add red marker stripes. Attach to trees. Cut holly leaf and berries. Attach number stickers 2010, holly leaf and berries to the cuff. Embellish the inside of card with self-adhesive gems, as desired. 7. Front of card: Trace and cut out stocking pattern on light red cardstock. Use an X-Acto knife to make tree cut-out. Attach to front of card. Cut the second cuff from white cardstock and hill fold narrow flaps at each end. Attach JOY stickers, two holly leaves, berries and self-adhesive gems. DIRECTIONS: 1. Cut a 12"x6" rectangle of light green cardstock. Score at the center and fold; trim uneven edges if necessary. 2. Cut a 5½"x11½" rectangle of ivory cardstock. Score at the center and fold; trim uneven edges if necessary. 3. Measure and cut pop-up boxes along the fold of the ivory card. The two on the ends begin 5/8" from the edges and are 1¼" square. The center pop-up is approximately 1/2" square. Tip: Draw guidelines using ruler and pencil; cut with X-Acto knife and ruler; fold each direction, return it to its original position, then pop it forward. 4. Glue the ivory panel to the green card, matching creases. Fold the card immediately, to let the inner card fit into its position inside the larger card. Smooth card layers together carefully and allow glue to dry, opening and closing frequently, for a smooth fit. 5. Computer-generate message in your choice of font size, type and color, on mint stripe paper. Trim edges and mount on light blue cardstock. Attach to top and near bottom of ivory inner panel. 6. Use the pattern to create background trees. Cut a row of tan trees and glue 1/4" above pop-up boxes (points may overlap message panel). From coordinating paper scraps, cut tall triangular trees and glue them side-by-side over the first row of trees. 7. Cut out trees for pop-up layer and attach to box fronts. 8. Cut out snowman components. Embellish snowman. Attach the snowman to his supports and crease as indicated. Attach bottom tab to tree. Apply glue to the top tab and close the card to determine placement. Open and close card a few times. 9. Glue blue oval (shadow) underneath snowman, and glue snowman support to blue oval. Punch out a few ivory circles and glue to blue oval. 10. For front of card, cut out the house, roof and chimney layers from textured ivory paper. Cut windows with X-Acto knife on self-healing cutting mat. Glue the roof and chimney layers onto the house. Glue a rectangle of orange glitter paper behind windows. 11. Cut a 4½" square of green dot cardstock. Mount on orange and blue cardstock and attach to front of card. Cut a background tree line from tan music paper and attach. Cut several triangular tree shapes. Glue trees and house to front of card. Cut a mini snowman and accessories; glue in front of house. pinning Dreidel Hanukkah Card Project created by Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores SUPPLIES & TOOLS: Cardstock: blue, silver, silver swirl Self-adhesive glitter paper, blue Alphabet stickers, blue Paper trimmer Scissors Ruler Pencil with eraser Stylus X-Acto knife Self-healing cutting mat Glue stick (or choice of adhesive) Provided patterns DIRECTIONS: 1. Cut basic swivel card, as follows: Cut an 8½"x5½" rectangle of blue cardstock. Place it face down horizontally in front of you. Measure over 3½" and 5" from the left edge and lightly draw two vertical lines from top to bottom. Measure down 1 1 2" and 4 3 8" from the top and draw two horizontal lines from side to side. 2. Draw another two lines 2 3 8"and 6 1 8" from the left edge, only within the top and bottom horizontal lines. 3. The lines in front of you resemble a window with a shutter on either side of it. Draw a diagonal line from the bottom corner of the window up 1/2" on the outside edge of the shutter. Repeat for a mirror image on the other side. The lines should resemble a dreidel shape. Cut along the lines that are now the top, bottom, and outside edges of the odd-shaped shutters. 4. Hill score (a fold oriented upward) the upper and lower parts only of the left vertical line; fold and crease the score. Valley score (a fold oriented downward) the upper and lower parts only of the right vertical line. Tip: Pierce intersection with a pin if it will help you find the line from the other side of the card. Fold along the score lines. Erase all pencil lines. Position the card in front of you, correct side facing up. 5. From the patterns, cut the four dreidel shapes from silver cardstock. Divide the shorter pointed one (as indicated on the pattern) and glue to the closed card. Leave a small blue border visible all around the dreidel sections. 6. Cut and divide the taller pointed section, as indicated, and glue to the opened card. Trim edges, if necessary, to allow a blue border to show all around the sections. Attach remaining panels. Cut a small rectangle for the dreidel top. 7. Cut dreidel symbols (nun, gimmel, hey and shin) from self-adhesive blue glitter paper and adhere. 8. Mount letters to spell Happy Hanukkah, first on silver paper, then silver paper on blue paper. Attach to card, as shown. 9. Glue 5/8" strips of silver swirl paper to left and right edges of card, flush with blue edges.
