Position Photo Biography Branch President Nick Shankster MIOSH A previous Midland Branch Chairman & Branch Secretary, Nick was instrumental in establishing the Midland Branch as The Midland Region of IOSH together with setting up the Midland Branch Districts. Nick has held all positions on the Midland Branch most recent (and possibly longest) has been as Treasurer of the Branch and for all our four Districts. As Safety Officer for Balfour Beatty was engaged in the manufacture and installation of electric transmission equipment for power and railway schemes. Chairman Roger Smith Branch Chairman since 2011, Roger has over twenty years in health and safety for social housing, banking, retail organisations and fire and rescue service. Currently Health and Safety Manager for Sense, a national charity for deafblind children and adults and is a school governor. Vice Chairman Mohammed Basharat Mohammed is the Vice Chairman of the Branch since 2011 and also sits on the IOSH Professional Ethics Committee. Working in the field of health and safety since 1996 having first started his career in Health and Safety Enforcement as an Environmental Health Officer.. At the present time he advises his employer in the field of Construction, Civil Engineering and Facilities Management as Safety Services Manager at Birmingham City Council.
Shadow Treasurer Earl Anderson Earl first sat on the Midland Branch Committee back in 1994 and has returned for a second stint since 2011. Director/owner of Sutton Safety Solutions Ltd, with over 34 years working in the field of occupational hygiene and health & safety management, Earl has hands on experience of advising, developing, implementing, auditing and delivering safety solutions to a broad range of clients. Earl has previously held the position of UK Health and Safety Manager for a global certification, testing and consultancy organisation. Secretary Tony Vozniak Ioshmidlandbranchsecretary @hotmail.co.uk Tony undertakes the role of Secretary for the IOSH Midland Branch, and has been on the Midland Branch Executive Committee for over three years. He is an active member of IOSH and undertakes Peer Review Interviews for candidates, in addition to mentoring candidates through the IPD process. Tony is also Chair of Midlands branch of the Association for Project Safety. Working in Health and Safety over 15 years within the construction, rail and civil engineering sectors Tony is Professional Head of Safety for Amey, overseeing railway operations. Within the rail industry, he represents all industry contractors at the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) Safety Policy Group, and is vice-chair of the Infrastructure Safety Liaison Group (ISLG). Shadow Secretary EuroSHM Nattasha Freeman CFIOSH LL.B (HONS) RMAPS CIWEM Nattasha has acted previously as Chair and Vice-Chair (6 yrs all in) of the Midland Branch, a member of IOSH Council and the Branch Review Working Party, (amongst other IOSH roles), and of course is a former Past President; she is currently an IOSH Trustee, sits on the Networks and International Committee and is a Peer Review Panel Chair. Working in the Health and Safety field for about 19 years and has been a member of IOSH for almost as long; working in construction, rail, commercial, property management, consultancy, and CDM. Nattasha is currently the Director for Health and Safety at GBR Phoenix Beard. Nattasha is also a former Chair and founding Vice Chair of the Midlands WWT Action Safety Group. BEDA Julian Hunter In his second year as Midland BEDA, Julian is also a NEBOSH examiner having over 17 years in H&S, before that QA and metallurgy. Senior H&S advisor of a large infrastructure construction company working across many sectors.
