Q. WHICH IS THE WORST OIL/FAT FOR PEOPLE S HEALTH? As in the past, palm oil is considered the worst oil for people s health in France, in French Belgium and in Italy; in Italy this figure is stable despite the increase in the awareness of palm oil. In Italy it is at the same level as lard, which is regarded as the worst in Spain, Germany and Poland; in Poland lardit is at the same level as margarine. The only exception is Saudi Arabia where the worst one is clarified butter. In the European countries, Palm oil is the worst oil in Italy, France, French Belgium and Germany (the only country showing an increase). Nevertheless, we observe a high percentage of none of these : highest in Spain, Poland and Belgium. Margarine is regarded as the worst fat in Poland. TO SUM UP Countries dynamics France, Italy and Belgium: perception is highly negative and stable Germany : some signals of negative evolution, to keep monitored Other surveyed countries, including Poland : no major issues, perception of palm oil is neutral Key findings Palm oil has the poorest health perception of any fat in France & Italy Health concerns have no main, clear rational Environment concerns mainly linked to deforestation People are not aware of sustainable Palm oil This document must be disclosed only to authorized individuals.
