David Bernard, Vice-President Investment Banking & Private Equity, Thomson Reuters (France) David Bernard is Vice-President at Thomson Reuters in charge of Thomson Reuters product strategy for the investment banking and private equity segments globally. Thomson Reuters is the world s leading source of intelligent information for businesses and professionals (www.thomsonreuters.com), and its Investment & Advisory division provides information and decision support tools and integration services for portfolio managers, investment bankers, research analysts and executives. David joined Thomson early 2004 to head up Thomson s private equity business in Europe (then called Thomson Venture Economics). Prior to joining Thomson, he worked in strategy consulting at Arthur D Little in Paris and London, where he was in charge of the Corporate Finance Advisory Services practice, and specialised in buyout, M&A and syndicated loan transactions. David has a Master of Science from Ecole Polytechnique in Paris where he specialised in Finance and Economics. Helen Gale, Director, Deloitte LLP (Channel Islands) Helen is a Director at Deloitte and heads up the Offshore Private Equity Sector Group. Helen joined Deloitte in Jersey in 2000 after working for Arthur Andersen in their Paris and London offices. Examples of Helen s experience in the private equity industry are: Engagement director for a significant range of private equity clients, both funds and managers and reporting under IFRS, US GAAP and UK GAAP. Responsible for all specialist advisory work for offshore private equity clients. Provision of advice on establishing new funds, including verification of IRR and review of accounting clauses in legal agreements. Engagement director on several carried interest modelling assignments involving interpretation of legal agreements, development of carried interest models and verification of carried interest payments prior to payment. Provision of regular external private equity training to administration service providers in Jersey and Guernsey and Financial Controllers working in the private equity industry based in London. Written thought leadership papers on accounting issues affecting the private equity industry.

Barry Lawson, Managing Partner, Private Equity Consultancy LLP (United Kingdom) Barry is a solicitor with over 16 years experience in the private equity industry gained at 3i and Bridgepoint Capital. During this time he has been closely involved in raising 7 funds with total commitments of over 10bn. Barry now manages his own business, The Private Equity Consultancy LLP, which was formed in 2008 to act as an independent and flexible legal/ Compliance/ investor relations resource for the private equity industry. He is sought after as a speaker at national and international events and will this year speak conference organised by Private Equity International, Legal Week, Infoline, the EVCA and the BVCA. He is a member of the BVCA s Regulatory Committee and the ICAEW s Corporate Finance Faculty Technical Committee. Tony Piper, Director, 4Vco Ltd. (United Kingdom) 4vco is a London-based, niche consultancy firm that focuses 100% on the systems and operations of the Private Equity industry. Since it was founded in 2001, it has provided advice and support to over 70 PE clients in 16 countries, including GPs, LPs, Funds of Funds and PE Administrators. 4vco currently employs seven consultants and delivers a range of services from strategic advice, through software selection, system implementation and operational support. Isabelle Probstel, Finance Manager, Apax Partners Beteiligungsberatung GmbH (Gemany) Isabelle Probstel, a graduate from Sup de Co Rouen, France, joined Apax Munich as Manager for Finance & HR in the Munich office in November 1997. After graduating, she worked as an auditor for Ernst & Young in Berlin, Germany for two years and then assumed the position of European controller for FTP Software in Munich for the two following years. Before joining Apax., she co-managed the assets of a California based trust in Santa Barbara. Isabelle speaks French, German and English.

Sylvain Quagliaroli, Associate, Grant Thornton (France) Sylvain Quagliaroli (50) is currently partner at Grant Thornton in France. He joined the firm in 1974 and became a partner in 1983. From 1974 he worked for years as auditor, specializing in international assignments. During this period he gained a thorough knowledge of international financial reporting (both US GAAP and IAS). Since 1995, he specialized in financial reporting and due diligence work for M&A and private equity houses and private equity operations. Sylvain is devoting time for developing industry best practices, he is a permanent member of AFIC (French Venture Capital Association) s various task forces, including Professional Education to AFIC members; he was a member of the EVCA (European Venture Capital Association) s Valuation Guidelines for Private Equity and Venture Capital working group and he is currently a member of the CNC (French Accounting standard Board) task force Consolidation des OPCVM (Consolidation of mutual funds). He is a frequent lecturer in international financial reporting areas and private equity industry specific topics. Monique Saulnier, Managing Partner & CFO, Sofinnova Partners (France) Monique Saulnier is a Managing Partner and the CFO of Sofinnova Partners. She joined in 1983 to initially follow US funds. In 1988 she took responsibility for the administration of the investment funds and investor relations and became Chief Financial Officer of Sofinnova Partners in 1997. She has been active in building VC standards: She led the task force that produced the AFIC Guide: Valuations and Reporting in 2002, was actively involved in producing new accounting standards for FCPRs within the CNC (French accounting regulatory body) in 2004, in the production of the IPEV (International Private Equity Valuation board) guidelines in 2005 and in the EVCA reporting guidelines in 2006. She is a member of the IPEV board, a member of the Advisory Committee of the CNC and a member of the EC Tax Expert Group. Monique holds a masters degree in management and a DECS (degree in

Iain Stokes, Group Managing Director, State Street Global Services (Channel Islands) Iain trained and qualified as an accountant with BDO Binder in Guernsey and subsequently spent seven years with Guernsey International Fund Managers, part of Barings, before joining Mourant International Finance Administration (now part of State Street) in 2003 as head of its Guernsey office. Currently he heads State Street s European private equity business. In addition, Iain holds a range of board appointments of fund management and fund investment companies incorporated in Guernsey and other jurisdictions.
