SUM 1001 SUM 1001 Voltage measuring relay For failing to meet and for exceeding the threshold value of single-phased voltages 3 operating ranges AC/DC: 0.5 to 500 V Curve shape: sine, square, triangle 10 time domains: non-delayed, 0.1 s to 3 h for the operate time delay Frequency range of the measured variable from 45 to 400 Hz Multifunction: Operating or rest current principle, hysteresis 3 % or 10 % of the target value Wiring diagram Applications Monitoring of voltage levels Monitoring of external voltage in mains with external supply Monitoring of field excitation in motors Monitoring of frequency actuators Monitoring of analog actuating variables Function The voltage measuring relay SUM 1001 is a monitoring relay for singlephase voltages. The measurand is supplied via various terminals, based on the desired operating range (see Table I). With the potentiometer target value, the response value can be set analogously within the preselected operating range. The operate time delay can be set with the time domain switch and the potentiometer time target value (see Table II). Notes: The supply voltage is galvanically separated from the measurement circuit and is displayed via the LED "SUPPLY". The measurand is recorded with an integrating full-wave rectification. With that, in certain limits, the monitoring of voltages, which are not sineshaped (e.g. voltages with a harmonic wave concentration, square or triangular voltages in the range of 45-400 Hz) is possible. The devices assess (for AC) the rectification value calibrated to the effective value of a sine voltage. For DC measurands, a rectification occurs and the mean value is monitored. In the delay domain NO DELAY and with the simultaneously poweredon function measurand exceedance (> V) the monitoring relays respond as of a certain threshold to the present value of the measured variable, and the output relay toggles instantaneously (see technical data). Prior to the insulation or voltage test in the switching installation, the connector lines are to be disconnected from the voltage measuring relay. Function operating current principle After application of the supply voltage and the falling below or exceeding of the preselected response value (based on the function selection - see Table III), the output relay toggles to the operating position. This takes place either after the preselected response delay or immediately. If the response value - based on the setting - falls below or exceeds by at least 3 or 10 % (hysteresis), then the output relay returns to the Standby position. Function standby current principle After application of the supply voltage, the relay toggles to t B, to the operating position. If the preselected limit value falls below or exceeds (based on the function selection), then the output relay re-toggles to the Standby position, depending on the preselected delay time. According to the preselected hysteresis (3 or 10 %), the output relay re-toggles to the operating position after falling below or exceeding the response value. SUM 1001 Application example Example setting: Target value (response value) AC/DC 25 V Time delay 210 s Function Exceeding, operating current principle, 3 % hysteresis Table I operating range 2 (terminals B1 and B3) potentiometer target value to 0.5 (0.5 x operating range end value 50 V) = 25 V (target value) Table II Time domain-end value 300 s potentiometer time target value to 0.7 (0.7 x Time domain-end value 300 s) = 210 s (response time delay) Table III Function > V 3 % Function selector switch, Position 4 If the measurand exceeds the target value of 25 V, then the LED TRIPPED starts flashing. After the elapse of the preselected operate time delay of 210 s, the output relay toggles to the operating position, and die LED TRIPPED stays on. If the actual value of the measured variable falls below the target value minus the 3% hysteresis, then the output relay retoggles to its Standby position. If the measurand falls below before reaching the preselected time, then the LED "TRIPPED" goes out (see function diagram 1). Application example Example setting: Target value (response value) AC/DC 4 V Time delay without Function Falling below, standby current principle, 10 % hysteresis Table I operating range 1 (terminals B1 and B2) potentiometer target value to 0.8 (0.8 x operating range end value 5 V) = 4 V (target value) Table II Time domain-end value NO DELAY potentiometer time target value random = without response time delay Table III Function < V 10 % Function selector switch, Position 8 If the measurand falls below the target value of 4 V, then the output relay without time delay toggles to the Standby position, and the LED "TRIPPED" lights up. If the actual value of the measured variable exceeds the target value plus the 10% hysteresis, then the output relay toggles to the operating position. The LED "TRIPPED" goes out (see function diagram 4). Page 95 SUM 1001 Subject to change without further notice

The measurand is supplied via different terminals based on the desired operating range (see Table I). With the potentiometer target value, the response value can be set analog within the preselected operating range. The operate time delay can be set with the time domains switch and the potentiometer time target value (see Table II). Notes: The supply voltage is galvanically separated from the measurement circuit and is indicated via the LED "SUPPLY". The measurand is recorded with an integrative full-wave rectification. Within certain limits, this enables the monitoring of currents which are not sine-shaped (e.g. currents with a concentration of harmonic waves, square or triangular currents ranging from 45-400 Hz). For AC, the devices assess the rectification value calibrated to the effective value of a sine voltage. For DC measurands, rectification occurs and the mean value is monitored. In the delay domain NO DELAY and with simultaneously powered-on function "measurand exceed" (> A), the monitoring relays respond as of a certain threshold to the present value of the measured variable, and the output relay toggles instantaneously (see technical data). Prior to an insulation or voltage test on the switching installation, the connector lines are to be disconnected from the voltage measuring relay. Function operating current principle After application of the supply voltage and falling below and exceeding the preselected response value (based on the function selection - see Table III), the output relay toggles to the operating position. This occurs after the elapse of the preselected response delay or immediately, based on the selection. If the response value falls below or exceeds by at least 3% or 10 %, based on the setting (hysteresis), then the output relay falls back into the Standby position. Function standby current principle After application of the supply voltage, the relay t B toggles to the operating position. If the preselected limit value falls below or exceeds based on the function selection, then the output relay re-toggles to the Standby position depending upon the preselected delay time. Based on the preselected hysteresis (3 or 10 %), the output relay re-toggles to the operating position according to the corresponding falling below or exceeding the response value. SPW 1004 / 1005 SPW 1004 SPW 1005 Alternating current phase sequence-phase error relay without auxiliary voltage Detection of incorrect phase sequence Detection of phase-voltage asymmetry Phase failure detection, also for reverse polarity voltage with and without phase offset Adjustable alternating current Nominal voltage 3 AC 380 V, 400 V, 415 V with associated low voltage recognition of one, two and all three phases Standby current principle, reaction time 35 ms at each fault recognition Contact allocation: SPW 1004 2 changer, SPW 1005 1 changer Wiring diagram Applications Monitoring for alternating current mains faults on machines or installations, e.g.: -Processing machines, palleting installations, packaging machines - Machines with rotation direction reversal - Escalators and elevator installations - Pumps and compressors - A/C units and ventilator installations Function The SPW devices monitor the external conductor voltages (their own alternating current supply) L1, L2, L3 for: Phase sequence with rotation to the right Phase failure Phase voltage asymmetry Phase offset Low voltage Setting ranges The alternating current nominal voltage ranges 3 AC 380 V, 400 V, 415 V with associated low voltage recognition of one, two and all three phases is infinitely adjustable with the built-in potentiometer. After application of the external conductor voltages L1, L2, L3 and when the alternating current parameters are flawless, the SPW toggles to the operating position (Standby current principle). The green LED lights up. If one of the aforementioned conditions is not fulfilled, then the relay toggles or remains in the Standby position. The SPW works without auxiliary voltage and a neutral conductor connector. The nominal voltage for the respective alternating current networks is preselectable in three areas (3 AC 380 V, 400 V, 415 V), analogous to a potentiometer on the front of the device. When an error occurs, the relay toggles to Standby position with a reaction time of 35 ms; the green LED goes out. After the remedy of the fault, the SPW automatically toggles to the operating position, and the LED lights up. The individual fault detection occurs in the following cases: Incorrect phase sequence Phase failure 100 %, e.g. in the event of wire breakage on the lines leading to the device Phase failure even with reverse polarity voltage up to 85 % Low voltage detection 20 % of one, two or all three phases, based on the set voltage 3 AC 380 V, 400 V, 415 V Phase voltage asymmetry from 15 % Phase offset of one phase against the other phases. The difference between the two devices is the contact assembly. The SPW 1004 is equipped with two contacts; the SPW 1005 is equipped with one contact. When the load is only present in ohms, a phase failure is also recognized. After application of the external conductor voltages L1, L2, L3 and when the phase sequence is correct, the relay toggles to the operating position. If one of the conditions is not fulfilled, then the relay remains in the Standby position. The red LED lights up. If a phase failure occurs during operation, then the relay only re-toggles to the Standby position (and the red LED lighty up) when no voltage recovery occurs via the connected consumer loads. The reset occurs automatically after remedy of the fault. The difference between the two devices is the contact assembly. SUW 3001 SUW 3001 Alternating current voltage monitor without auxiliary voltage Low voltage detection of one, two or all three phases Low voltage detection of 285 to 360 V adjustable Phase failure detection of one, two or all three phases Alternating current nominal voltage 3 AC 400 V without neutral conductor connector and auxiliary voltage Reaction time 35 ms Standby current principle Contact allocation: 2 changers Wiring diagram Applications monitoring for alternating current - low voltage fault and phase failure in machines or installations, e.g.: - machines with rotation direction reversal (cranes, robots, pumps, excavators, conveyance technology...) - chemical processes - test/calibration benches Function Setting ranges The alternating current low voltage range of 3 AC 285 V to +360 V for all three phases is infinitely adjustable with the built-in potentiometer. The SUW 3001 monitors the external conductor voltages (its own voltage supply) L1, L2, L3 for low voltage and phase failure. It operates without a neutral conductor connector and auxiliary voltage. After application of the external conductor voltages L1, L2, L3 in which the voltage is above the voltage limit value, the SUW toggles to the operating position (standby current principle). The green LED lights up. If the voltage undershoots the set voltage limit value, then the relay toggles to the Standby position. The green LED goes out. The nominal voltage for alternating current grids is 3 AC 400 V, with a large operating voltage range. Analogous to this, the target value of the low voltage (285 to 360 V) is preselectable with a potentiometer. When an error occurs, the relay toggles to the Standby position with a reaction time of 35 ms; the green LED goes out. After remedy of the fault, the SUW toggles automatically to the operating position; in this process, the fixed 10 V hysteresis setting is effective. The green LED lights up. Error recognition occurs upon: Phase failure of one, two or all three phases Low voltage recognition of one, two or all three phases, based on the set voltage (3 AC 285 V to +360 V). It works according to the standby current principle and warrants safe re-toggle to the Standby position in the event of the following faults: The cold line exceeds a resistance ranging from 2500 Ω to + 3600 Ω due to a rise in temperature (when the temperature falls and the cold line resistance lies within the range of 1500 Ω to + 1000 Ω, the relay re-toggles to the operating position) When a short occurs, the sensor circuit falls below the resistance value < 20 Ω in the event of wire breakage in the event of voltage failure The fault is indicated by the LED "TRIPPED" lighting up. The fault is not saved. SMS 1005 The basic function conforms to that of the SMS 1002. An additional error memory prevents the relay form re-toggling to the operating position after the remedy of the fault. The fault memory can only be deleted by pressing Reset (Reset) when the fault is remedied. When the error memory is deleted or the supply voltage is powered off for at least 250 ms, the SMS 1005 is once again ready for a fault recognition. Notes: The supply voltage is galvanically separated from the measurement circuit (except at DC 24 V). Page 126 SMS 1002 Subject to change without further notice

SMS 1002 / 1002-101 / 1005 Application examples Function diagrams Motor monitoring When the motor temperature exceeds the nominal response temperature (TNF) of the cold line temperature sensor (or a line breakage/short has occurred in the sensor), the motor is powered off via K1. Monitoring of the oil temperature If the oil temperature in the transformer rises above the nominal stressing temperature, the relay toggles to the Standby position. The horn H1 reports the overheating. Via the SPS, temperature control measures can be initiated. The error memory of the SMS 1005 prevents the relay from retoggling to its operating position after the remedy of the fault. Only pressing the Reset button or powering off the supply voltage 250 ms deletes the fault memory. Toggle ranges / resistance characteristic Sensors Cold line temperature sensors are resistances with very high positive resistance temperature coefficients. They are also called PTC thermistors (PTC = positive temperature coefficient). They are used in motors for which the temperature picture is known prior to production, on the exhaust air side, in the coil heads of the stand winding. Their nominal response temperature is based on the motor type. When the nominal response temperature is exceeded, the resistance of the cold line temperature sensor rises erratically. If the sensor is connected to a motor safeguard relay/temperature monitor, then the erratic rise in resistance triggers a toggle command. Subject to change without further notice SMS 1002 Page 127

It operates according to the standby current principle, and warrants safe re-toggle to Standby position during the following faults: Due to rising temperature, the cold line exceeds a resistance ranging from 2500 Ω to + 3600 Ω (at falling temperature and a cold line resistance ranging from 1500 Ω to + 1000 Ω and upon pressing the Reset button, the relay re-toggles to the operating position) the sensor circuit undershoots during a short the resistance value < 20 Ω upon wire breakage upon voltage failure The fault is indicated by the LED "TRIPPED" lighting up. A fault memory with at reclosing block (no reset via the supply voltage) prevents the re-toggle of the relay into the operating position after the elimination of the fault. With Reset (Reset), the fault memory can only be deleted when the fault is remedied. If the fault memory is deleted and supply voltage is applied, then the SMS 1006 is once again ready for fault recognition. SMS 1006 Application examples Function diagram Monitoring of cooling water When the cooling water overheats, the relay toggles to the Standby position, and the installation is shut down. When the relay supply voltage fails, the installation is likewise powered off (standby current principle). The fault memory with reclosing block prevents the automatic power-on of the installation when the supply voltage is powered on again or a fault is remedied. To enable restart, the relay must be reset to the operating position (Reset). Toggle ranges / resistance characteristic Monitoring of the transformer temperature When the nominal voltage temperature is exceeded, the relay toggles to the Standby position the transformer is powered off. In the event of a failure in the relay supply voltage, the transformer also remains powered off. The fault memory with reclosing block prevents the automatic poweron of the installation when the supply voltage is powered on again or a fault is remedied. Only upon Reset (Reset) does the relay re-toggle to the operating position. Sensors Cold line temperature sensors are resistances with a very high positive resistance temperature coefficient. These are also called PTC thermistors (PTC = positive temperature coefficient). They are used in motors (on the exhaust side, in the stator winding coil heads) when their temperature picture is known prior to production. Their nominal response temperature is based on the motor type. When the nominal response temperature is exceeded, the resistance of the cold line temperature sensor increases erratically. If it is connected to a motor safeguard relay/temperature monitor, then the erratic increase in resistance triggers a toggle command. Page 130 SMS 1006 Subject to change without further notice

This is analyzed by the STW. The compensator lines serve to extend the thermal elements (principle wiring diagram). They are laid from the connector of the thermal element to the comparison point (compensator socket, measuring point toggle). Compensator lines consist of positive and negative conductors. Up to a maximum limit of + 200 C, they have the same thermo-electric properties as the thermal element. Therefore, no thermal tension occurs at the connector points. The maximum temperature for compensator lines is considered + 200 C, independent of the insulation material. If the temperature at the connector point is higher, a thermal line must be used in place of the compensator line in order to achieve a high level of metering precision. The production of compensator lines is less complex than that of thermal lines. They usually have a larger cross-section and lower electrical resistance. Therefore, they are more efficient for greater line lengths. Subject to change without further notice STW 1001 / 1002 Page 135
