CLASS DETAILS TUESDAY 24 th WEDNESDAY 25th January 10-4pm Fit to finish (2 day class) - 140.00 + 20.00 kit Looking to create garments that fit you perfectly? If so, you need a fitting block/template. From this template you can create any design that you can imagine. This is the easy way to pattern cutting. At last a fitting concept that you have been waiting for. Using a commercial pattern and actual garments you will be personally fitted for a top and skirt. Learn to read the signs of a bad fit and how to correct it. At the end of this two-day workshop you will leave with a manual, commercial pattern and a skirt and top toile that fits. SATURDAY 28 th January 10-4pm Zips, zips and buttonholes - 45.00 This class is a must for both dressmaking and soft furnishings. A class of easy and reliable methods of inserting PERFECT zips, including zips in cushions, skirts and trousers. We then unlock the mysteries of inserting invisible zips for a perfect dressmaking finish and then make PERFECT buttonholes, with and without cording. You cannot afford to miss this one!
Thursday 9 th February 10-4pm Master your sewing machine - 45.00 We will reveal the mysteries of correct threading, tensions, cleaning, oiling and problem solving. You will use different stitches, learn to seam and finish your fabrics neatly. After this you will be ready to tackle your home sewing and perhaps continue onto more advanced classes. This is the class everyone needs; to make friends with their sewing machines SATURDAY 11 th February 10-4pm Working with stretch knits - 65.00 Knits are an important part of every wardrobe and because of their elasticity, knit garments do not require a lot of fitting and they shed wrinkles well. Most knits do not ravel, making them quick and easy to sew. Knits come in a variety of fabrics that vary in texture, elasticity, fibre content, weight, and design. On this workshop you will make a simple stretch garment. Choose your pattern and fabric, come along and learn how to deal with any stretch fabric. WEDNESDAY 22 nd February 10-4pm Beginners dressmaking 1-65.00 + 5.00 Kit Start as you mean to continue. Learn all the commonly used seams, hems and finishes, understand how to read patterns. This course is for complete beginners and those wishing to return to sewing. Knowing the basics, having a range of techniques at your fingertips will give you the confidence to start the first of your many sewing projects. Reignite your passion for sewing!
SATURDAY 25 th February 10-4:30 pm Overlockers Made Simple - 55.00 Learn how to EASILY change the threads and how to rethread without problems. Stay calm and get familiar with tensions and settings. Adjust tensions CORRECTLY to achieve 3 & 4 thread overlock stitches. In the afternoon, use your Overlocker to construct an easy sweatshirt top. Finish with basic clean & oiling. We will provide the pattern, you bring along your cut out fabric and threads. SATURDAY 4 th March 10-4 pm Bunny Sewing Day - 45.00 + 25.00 kit A brand new fun-filled day of making your own heirloom rabbit with fully moving joints, that s a lot easier to make than you would think! Made with Schulte mohair, the same fabric Steiff used to make their teddy bears, this is a bunny that needs to go home with everybody! If the shape and fit is right it can look stunning on any figure. With or without straps it s always a showstopper. This workshop will lead you through the process to create the perfect boned bodice for you. Choosing the correct style, fitting, cutting, interlining also knowing where and how to bone all will be revealed. 2 day course: Choose your pattern, fabric and trim. Join us to make something you will treasure. SATURDAY 25 th March 10-4pm Dressmaking Beginners 2-70.00 Bring along some fabric and a simple skirt or top pattern for woven fabric. Learn all about how to prepare your fabric, pattern layout, what is with nap or without nap layout. Understand the terminology interfacing, facing, top stitching, under stitching, edge stitching. Learn the differences and when to use each technique. Take the fear out of using a commercial pattern. SATURDAY 1 st April 10-4 pm Heirloom Sewing Day - 45.00 Sew perfectly straight very fine tucks and pintucks, attaching edge and lace edging. Insertion lace, fine edge mitered corners with and without lace, extra fine rouleau loops, faggotting, hemstitching techniques using Wing Needle, Shell/Scallop edge and picot edge, gathering easily and quickly, piping and other practical and decorative applications.

SATURDAY 6 th May 10-4pm Embroidery Machine Project Day - 45.00 Are you getting the best results from your embroidery machine? This class will guide you through the minefield of setting up your embroidery machine and stabilizing different fabrics. We will advise on which threads to use and how to manage your tensions. We will explain different ways to load your designs and help with enlarging, reducing and combining designs on the machine. This class will make you confident to tackle your embroidery projects successfully.
FRIDAY 12 th May 10-4pm Bali Bag - 70.00 Make this gorgeous one-of-a-kind, eye catching bag using strips of cotton fabric and wadding. The small size is ideal as your summer bag. The large size makes the perfect beach bag. Choose your colours or coordinating fabrics, button trim and thread. Pattern and instructions supplied THURSDAY 18 th May 10-4:30pm Patchwork on overlockers - 55.00 Learn fast ¼" patchwork piecing using a 4 thread overlocker, how to thread the machine and set tensions for woven cotton fabrics, chainpiece for quick machine patchwork. Make four Log Cabin blocks, Rail Fence, Pinwheel blocks and a Nine-Patch block to complete in to four matching cushion tops. An excellent way to get started with accurate sewing on your overlocker. SATURDAY 20 th May 10-4pm Lingerie Day (silks, satins and lace) - 70.00 This is a course for you to have time to make that special pair of satin pajamas. Using lace or piping in the process, complete with covered buttons. A lace negligee set with nightie and dressing gown, maybe a quilted collar satin dressing gown, an embroidered slip on dressing gown. The choice is yours. You can use cotton lawn or batiste to make a Victoriana set with embroidery anglaise trim and pin tucks. You could use satin or silk to make beautiful slips. The emphasis will be on lace piecing and lace appliqué techniques. Create tiny piping, covered buttons and studs to add to your skills.
SATURDAY 10 th June 10-4:30pm Fantasy Landscapes - 55.00 A day of exploring our machines and our imaginations. We will create a landscape scene using different techniques; applique, free embroidery, machine embroidery, couching and creating new fantasy fabrics over flat wadding. Our finished panel can be used as a cushion front, a bag panel or a hanging picture for Christmas. Whatever you turn it into, you will be very impressed! SATURDAY 17 th June 10-4pm Trouser Making - 70.00 Follow up from the previous class Trouser fitting ; this class covers constructing a pair of trousers, with all the tricks and tips for a professional finish. The class will guide you through the construction process of your trousers, seaming, neatening, lining, and inserting perfect zips and pocket tailoring methods that Janice will make easy! THURSDAY 22 nd June 10-4:00pm Sewing in circles - 45.00 Sewing stitches in circles with your sewing machine can produce fantastic designs, these can be applied to many sewing projects. All sewing machines can produce stunning effects, simply with basic stitches or using decorative stitches. There is no end to the artistic effects! A very difficult thing to achieve without some specialist instruction and tips for best results; whether it s for dressmaking, home furnishings, heirloom or patchwork.
WEDNESDAY 28 th June 10-4pm Project Day- 70.00 You have fabric that you bought a while back you re not sure what to make with it, or it s a fabric that is tricky to sew. Come on this day and get expert advice on what to make and how to achieve the best results. These days are for you to make your choice of garment or bag. Bring your fabric and pattern.
