LittleOwlsHut Crochet Pattern By Galina Stelmakhova Skill level: Easy About this pattern The toy is crocheted in continuous spirals without joining the rounds. You will need a stitch marker to keep track of where the beginning of each round starts. Move the marker up to the first stitch of the next round after finishing the previous one. If you don't have a stitch marker you can always use a scrap of contrasting yarn instead. You can see it in my photos. I use USA terminology for my pattern (don t worry if you use UK terms, all the differences are explained in the pattern). Finished size Finished size approx. 14 cm (5.5 inches) tall using the materials stated in the pattern. Any yarn in skin and brown colors. I used Jeans by YARNART (55% cotton, 45% acrylic, 160m/50g). Brown fluffy yarn (see Gauge section to see if you choose the right yarn). Matching crochet hook (I used 1.75 mm approximately US 4, UK 2); Two black beads or half beads for the eyes (I used 5-6 mm in diameter) for the eyes of the doll. Alternatively you can embroider or crochet them instead in which case you will need a small amount of black color yarn. Any stuffing; Tapestry needle; Single core copper electrical wire I used approximately 50 cm (16.7 Doll in a Viking Monkey outfit Materials and tools inches) of wire 1.5 mm in diameter; Fabric tape 1 cm wide to work up the wire ends; Transparent glue; A piece of thick cardboard or plastic for the insoles; Red embroidery thread for the mouth; Wool for felting or yarn for the hair; Sewing pins. Happy crocheting!

LittleOwlsHut Crochet pattern 2018 Tip (make it right) If there are no special notes, the toy is crocheted under both parts of the loop. In some rows, there are special notes: into the front loop only or into the back loop only. In that case, you need to follow these instructions. Tip (make it right) When making toys the right side looks like this: And the backside looks like this: Abbreviations ch(s) = chain(s) st(s) = stitch(es) sl st = slip stitch sc(s) = single crochet(s) inc(s) = increase(s) (2 sc in 1 st) tr = treble (triple) crochet dec(s) = decrease(s) (2 sc together) Rnd = round TIP (yarn and wire) If you use different yarn, the toy will be bigger or smaller and you will need more or less yarn and wire than stated in the pattern (i.e. thicker yarn will produce a larger toy and you may require more yarn and wire). If you decide to use thicker yarn you should buy thicker wire as well. The thicker your yarn the taller the toy will be. If there is a record in the brackets in the pattern, multiplied by some number, for example (3 sc, 1 inc) x 3, it means you need to repeat this action 3 times, that is 3 sc, 1 inc, 3 sc, 1 inc, 3 sc, 1 inc. Tip (gauge) When making toys, you should use a much smaller hook than recommended for the yarn you choose. Make sure you crochet tight enough; otherwise, the stuffing will show through the holes. USA/UK terminology comparison chart. Skill levels Abbreviations USA ch - chain sc - single crochet hdc - half double crochet dc - double crochet tr - treble (triple crochet) dtr - double treble sl st - slip stitch Abbreviations UK ch - chain dc - double crochet htr - half treble tr - treble dtr - double treble tr tr - triple treble sl - slip stitch Projects for first-time crocheters using basic stitches. Minimal shaping. Projects using yarn with basic stitches, repetitive stitch patterns, simple color changes, and simple shaping and finishing. Projects using a variety of techniques, such as basic lace patterns or color patterns, mid-level shaping and finishing. 2 Projects with intricate stitch patterns, techniques and dimension, such as non-repeating patterns, multicolor techniques, fine threads, small hooks, detailed shaping and refined finishing.

Pin and sew the body to the head. Add some stuffing if needed when making final stitches. Weave in loose ends. Leg (make 2) Now you will work the skirt. Tip: You can insert a wire frame in each leg before stuffing it to make the toy more stable. Cut a piece of wire = the length of the foot + the height of the leg + approximately 2 cm (0.8 inches) (you can make it longer depending on the size of the body 4

LittleOwlsHut Crochet pattern 2018 the more wire there will be inside the toy, the more stable the toy will be). Work up one wire end with fabric tape. Bend the wire and insert it in the boot. Do not work up the other end with fabric tape. Start working with the boot stuffing as you go. Tip: Make sure you inserted the wire frame first and then stuff the leg if you plan to use the wire frame for the legs. Rnd 7: 7 sc, 6 dec, 7 sc (20) Change to main brown color yarn. Do not cut off brown fluffy yarn. Bring it to the right side of your work. Rnd 4: into the back loop only 1 sc in each st around (26) Rnds 5-6: 1 sc in each st around (26) Put the insole inside the boot. Find the right position for the legs. If you have made wire frame for the legs, run wire ends into the 5

LittleOwlsHut Crochet pattern 2018 body. I inserted the wire of each leg 3 rounds to the left and 3 rounds to the right of the body s Rnd 1. Sew the legs onto the body. Weave in loose ends. End with a sl st. Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing. Go back to Rnd 6 of the arm. Holding the arm with the hand facing forward, join brown fluffy yarn and work using unworked front loops: Rnd 1: 6 inc (12) End with a sl st. Fasten off and weave in loose ends. Arm (make 2) with skin color yarn Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6) Rnd 2: 6 inc (12) Rnd 3: 1 sc in each st around (12) Rnd 4: 11 sc, 3-tr cluster in one st (it will be a thumb), (12) Cut a piece of wire: the length of the piece = (the length of the arm and hand)x2 + the width of the body Insert the wire into the body on the level of the arms. I did it 2-3 rounds down the place where the head meets the neck. How to make a 3-tr cluster: Make 3 half-closed tr in one stitch. A half-closed stitch is one that s only worked partway, and then finished at the end of the combination. You will end with four loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all four loops on the hook. One 3-tr cluster is complete. Rnd 5: 6 dec (6) Change to main brown color yarn. Rnd 6: 1 sc in each st around (6) Stuff the hand. Do not stuff further. Rnd 7: into the back loop only - 1 sc in each st around (6) Rnds 8-13: 1 sc in each st around (6) Try the arms on. Cut extra wire if needed. Work up wire ends with fabric tape and put the arms onto the wire again. Sew the arms onto the body. 6

LittleOwlsHut Crochet pattern 2018 Hair Cut yarn for the hair or felting wool into tresses. As the doll s hat won t be removed, you don t have to cover all the hair area with tresses. I attached one row of hair the way you fasten fringe between Rnd 9 and 10 of the head. Hat with main brown color yarn Note: Work the hat and try fitting the hat on the head as you go to test for size depending on your yarn tension. If the hat is too large to fit the head, work a few rounds less. If the hat is too small, work a few rounds more. Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6) Rnd 2: 6 inc (12) Rnd 3: (1 sc, 1 inc)х6 (18) Rnd 4: (2 sc, 1 inc)х6 (24) Rnd 5: (3 sc, 1 inc)х6 (30) Trim the hair. You can make more hair if you like. If you plan to sew the hat onto the head, leave a tail for sewing. the ears and sew them onto the hat. I did two ponytails for my doll. Ear (make 2) with main brown color yarn Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6) Rnd 2: 6 inc (12) Rnd 3: (1 sc, 1 inc)х6 (18) Rnd 4: (2 sc, 1 inc)х6 (24) Rnd 5: (3 sc, 1 inc)х6 (30) Rnds 6-8: 1 sc in each st around (30) Rnd 9: (3 sc, 1 dec)х6 (24) Rnd 10: (2 sc, 1 dec)х6 (18) Rnd 11: (1 sc, 1 dec)х6 (12) Rnd 12: 6 dec (6) End with a sl st. Fasten off and close up the opening. Leave a tail for sewing. Tail with main brown color yarn Work in rows (ch 1 at the beginning of each row and turn your work after each row). Ch 26 and work starting from 2 nd st from the hook: Row 1: 25 sc (25) Rows 2-4: 1 sc in each st across (25) Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing. Find the right position for the hat and sew it onto the head (I glued it on). Find the right position for Cut a piece of wire = the length of the tail. Work up both wire ends with fabric tape. Make sure the wire is firm enough to keep the shape. I used wire 1.5 mm in diameter. 8

LittleOwlsHut Crochet pattern 2018 Fold the tail in half lengthwise. Put the wire inside the folded tail. Sew the tail along three sides. Leave a tail for sewing. TIP: If you don t want to glue or sew beads or half beads, you can crochet the pupils with black color yarn by working 4-5 sc in magic ring. Your Doll is ready! Sew the tail onto the skirt. Assembling Glue the half beads for the eyes and embroider the mouth with red embroidery thread. I left approximately 3 sts between the eyes and glued them approximately 10-11 rounds up from the neck (approximately Rnd 14-15 of the head). There are 3-4 rounds between the eyes and the mouth. The mouth is approximately 3 sts wide. 9
