Smart Utilities: A Bridge To Smart Cities of the Future Wednesday, September 27, 2017 8:30am 2:00pm The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania 8 th Floor Huntsman Hall Philadelphia The conference will discuss how Smart Cities use information and communication technology to improve their management, operation and sustainability. They combine information from their infrastructures such as water, energy and transportation with public services to make intelligent decisions about current events as well as to plan for their future. Smart Cities rely on real-time data collection networks, communicate information through wired and wireless pathways and use sophisticated data analytics to accomplish this goal. The conference will draw from examples where innovative water utilities that collect continuous information on water quality, system reliability and provide important consumption metrics to their customers can serve as working examples and even be the backbone for a Smart City s comprehensive network.
