Step-by-Step Installation Instructions for Customer helpline number: 01604 633607 8892_Step_By_Step_900_Quad_V5.indd 1 1/9/10 18:01:22

Before Starting: Please read and understand these instructions. Not following these instructions will invalidate your warranty (although this does not affect your statutory rights) and could cause injury during or after installation. This is a two-person job. All glass must be handled with great care. This product is made from toughened glass and must not be replaced by standard, non-certifi ed material. If you are in any doubt, call the helpline or consult a suitably qualifi ed person. Check that all parts listed on page 3 are included in the box and that you have the necessary tools to hand. Note that some parts, such as screws, may have more than the number stated. DISCLAIMER: Should any parts be missing or damaged, do not continue with the installation and call the Customer Helpline number on 01604 633607. We cannot accept liability for any costs arising from installation of damaged or faulty parts. Ensure you have suffi cient space and a clean, dry area for assembly. This product should ideally be fi tted to a fl at wall, although it will allow for walls that are up to 20mm out of true. However, if the surface is uneven, additional silicone sealing will be required. Note: This product should only be fi tted over a sound tiled surface. Important: The wall plugs included in this pack are for solid walls only. If the product is to be mounted on a partition or stud wall, specialised fixings should be purchased separately. CAUTION! Before drilling into any walls, check that there are no hidden cables or pipes. Exercise great care when using power tools near water. The use of a residual current device (RCD) or cordless drill is recommended. Always double-check the position and your measurements before drilling holes. Protective eyewear should be used when drilling and handling glass. Keep children away from the work area and remember that all small parts, plastic bags and tools should also be kept out of reach of children. Fixing tips: A piece of insulating tape or a couple of layers of masking tape applied to the wall before marking out the fi xing holes will help stop the drill from wandering on tiled surfaces. Also, to avoid the loss of small parts down the drain, put the plug in the plughole. Additionally, take care not to drop accessories or tools onto the shower tray; use a towel or bathmat to protect delicate surfaces. Tools required 1. Preferably a Cordless Drill If not cordless, use a RCD 2. 6mm Masonry drill bit or tile bit for fi xing onto a tiled surface 3. 3mm Metal drill bit 4. Pencil / Pen 5. Rubber Mallet 6. Tape measure 7. Sealant and Sealant Gun 8. Screw driver 9. Spirit Level Customer helpline number: 01604 633607 2 8892_Step_By_Step_900_Quad_V5.indd 2 1/9/10 18:01:23

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS 1. Using a good quality spirit level, ensure the shower tray (or base of the shower) is level on all sides. 2. Assemble the curved top and bottom rails and fi xed glass side panels (shaped edge on the outside) to give a rigid structure. The glass panels are positioned using the locating lugs on the curved rail. Fig.1. Don t fi x the doors in place, this comes later. 3. Using 8 x 30mm screws, screw the top and bottom rails to the fixed glass and carefully tighten. Fig.2. 1 2 3 4. Once the side panels are fi xed to the upper and lower curved rails, loosely attach the separate end frame channels, one to each side panel Fig.3. These channels allow for out of true walls, of up to 20mm. 5. Position the complete frame ensuring the assembly is positioned correctly on the shower tray, with the curve of the rail following the curve of the tray and with end frame channels pushed fully home (screw slots facing inwards), into the desired location over the shower tray. With your assistant holding the frame in place, check the vertical alignment, using a spirit level. Once this is level, move each end frame channel out against the wall and re-check level (remember: It must be correct or the doors won t work properly when fully installed). 6. You will notice that the end frame channels have slotted screw holes, mark the centre position of the screw slots, with the marker pen, onto the wall Fig.4 do this for all hole slots on each side. Now re-check the levels and if not true, adjust and re-mark the wall. 4 5 6 Customer helpline number: 01604 633607 4 8892_Step_By_Step_900_Quad_V5.indd 4 1/9/10 18:01:24

7. When you are happy with the position and the markings on the wall, remove the whole assembly, including end frame channel and place safely to one side. 8. Drill the 8 marked locations with a 6mm masonry drill bit Fig.5. 9. Insert the wall plug into the drilled hole using a rubber mallet, ensuring a fl ush fi tting with the wall surface. Fig.6. 7 8 9 10. Carefully replace the assembled shower screen back into position, lining-up the slotted holes of the end channel with the inserted wall plugs and loosely fi t screws, allowing the frame to be moved if needed. Fig.7. 11. With the frame centralised between the two end channels, check vertical alignment of the channel, using a spirit level. When correct, gently tighten the two top and bottom screws and re-check alignment if OK, tighten all screws fully (if not re-align and tighten) repeat for the other side. Next: The frame assembly (without doors) should now be secured to the end channels (which are fi xed to the wall). 12. Making sure that the panel assembly is central between the end channels, check levels of frame assembly and adjust if necessary. From inside the enclosure, mark the positions of the side panel assembled frame against the end channel. Fig.8. 13. When correct, drill fi xing holes into the frame - inside wall only - (3 per side), using a 3mm metal drill bit Fig.9. 10 11 Customer helpline number: 01604 633607 5 8892_Step_By_Step_900_Quad_V5.indd 5 1/9/10 18:01:24

14. Pre-assemble the 10mm-screw with screw-cap washers. 15. Loosely screw the panel assembly to the corresponding end frame channel using 6 x 10mm screws (3 each side), complete with 6 screw-cap washers. Check horizontal and vertical levels of the completed assembly using the spirit level, and then tighten the upper and lowermost screws. Re-check levels and if OK, tighten all screws fully Fig.10. 16. Fit the fl at glass panel edge seals with the free, long, end pointing inwards (this is the shorter seal). 12 13 14 17. Fit the curved door edge seals to both doors, with the free, long, end pointing outwards (to the side away from the handle) Fig.11. 18. Fit the doors by positioning (arrow pointing up) onto the top curved track, then the lower rollers onto the lower curved track, ensuring that the rollers with buttons are at the bottom push the buttons to locate these Fig.12. Once the curved doors are correctly located and run freely, fi t the magnetic strips to the facing door edges, ensuring the angled magnetic strips face each other. Note: these should meet correctly for a water tight fi t (this is obvious when seen). Fig.13. 15 16 17 Customer helpline number: 01604 633607 6 8892_Step_By_Step_900_Quad_V5.indd 6 1/9/10 18:01:24

18 19 19. Again, ensure smooth operation of the doors and that the magnetic strip is fully pushed home on each door edge (make sure there is no trapped air at the back of the seal), when closed, these should meet without a gap. Should there be a gap, check that the strips are fully home, if so then the door levels may need to be adjusted by using the adjustment screws in the upper rollers on the sliding doors clockwise will raise and anticlockwise will lower the corresponding door side Fig.18. Both doors should be the same height and level. 20. Insert the screw cap seals onto all exposed screw heads Fig.14. 21. Fit the handles to the curved doors using the pre-drilled holes. Assemble using the handle bolts (fi t from the outside) and a washer on both sides of the glass surface please don t over tighten or you could break the glass Fig.15. 22. Insert blanking plates as required into their corresponding positions Figs.16 & 17 (the plates which are not required can be discarded). Fixing should be completed using Wickes clear silicone. 23. Making sure the room is well ventilated; fi nish off by applying silicone sealant as shown in Fig.19. Note: Sealant should not be applied to the inside of the enclosure when fi tted over tiles (only the outside) this stops water from becoming trapped and turning stagnant. Allow 24 hours (under normal conditions) for the silicone to cure before using the shower. Customer helpline number: 01604 633607 7 8892_Step_By_Step_900_Quad_V5.indd 7 1/9/10 18:01:24

Cleaning and Maintenance Cleaning Important - Household cleaners can contain abrasive and chemical products that can damage the aluminium or painted surface and plastic fittings. These should be cleaned with a mild detergent and wiped dry with a soft cloth. Always read the label before you use any cleaning products. Always rinse the glass and frame with clean water after use, regular cleaning is required to prevent the build up of soap/scum or limescale in hard water areas. Maintenance Ensure that this product is regularly checked for damaged or loose parts. These instructions should be retained by the end user for future reference. Thank you for choosing a Wickes product if you have any diffi culties in installing this product or in the unlikely event that there are parts missing, please call our Customer Helpline number on 01604 633607 Customer helpline number: 01604 633607 8 8892_Step_By_Step_900_Quad_V5.indd 8 1/9/10 18:01:24
