Work 24 sc around the lucite ring, join with a sl st in the first sc, ch 65 (or length desired for half the length of the necklace), sc in the ring of one half of the necklace closure finding, sl st in each of the 65 ch s, sl st in the same st on the lucite ring, ch 65 (or the same number as the first half of the length of the necklace), sc in the ring of the other half of the necklace closure finding, sl st in each of the 65 ch s, sl st in the same st on the lucite ring, sl st in each of the remaining 23 sc around the ring; join with a sl st in the first sl st. Since there are no buttons or snaps, it's an easy-on dress for little ones. Work fairly tightly for best results. If you crochet loosely, try a smaller hook. KID STUFF SECTION 4 Fiesta Jump Rope Materials: About 1 1/2 to 2 oz. variegated worsted weight yarn (I used Red Heart s Mexicana) Crochet hooks size H and D 50 pony beads in colors to match the yarn Two 1/2 lucite rings Fiberfill Yarn needle 3 1/2 x 6 piece of sturdy cardboard FIESTA JUMP ROPE Designed by Priscilla Hewitt Copyright 2000 Priscilla s Crochet The rope part of this jump rope is made using the crocheted lobster stitch cord with pony beads added to give the rope a little weight. An illustrated tutorial of this stitch can be found at Daphne's Tutorials To work the lobster stitch cord jump rope: Using yarn needle, thread 50 pony beads on the yarn. Leaving a 10 yarn tail and using size H hook, ch 2, sc in the 2nd ch from hook Don't turn. Instead flip the sc toward you (clockwise) so the bottom is on the top. See that little single bar on top? Insert hook in that and complete sc. *Flip upward toward you again (clockwise). Now there will be 2 bars on the top. Insert hook under those 2 bars and complete sc.* Repeat from * to * 39 times, then slide up a bead, (repeat from * to * 11 times, slide 8
up a bead) 49 times; repeat from * to * 40 times; fasten off leaving a 10 yarn tail. Handles Make 2. Work tightly. Round 1: With size D hook, work 12 dc around one of the lucite rings; do not join. Round 2: Sc in each of the 12 sc around; do not join. Rounds 3-29: Repeat round 2. After round 29, insert one of the end yarn tails of the rope through the ring and pull the yarn tail and the rope through the handle; adjust the length needed for the jump rope and tie an overhand knot in the end of the rope to prevent it from slipping out of the handle. Pull the beaded side of the rope until the knot seats itself above the ring. Stuff the handle very firmly with fiberfill. Round 30: *(Insert hook in next st and pull up a loop) 2 times, yo and pull through all 3 remaining loops on hook.* Repeat from * to * 5 more times; fasten off, leaving a yarn tail for sewing. Thread yarn tail in needle and sew the stitches of round 30 closed, then knot. Tassels Make 2. Cut a 12 piece of yarn and lay it along one of the 6 edges of the cardboard, centering the cardboard. Tape each end of the cardboard to the yarn to temporarily secure. Wrap the cardboard 72 times around the 3 1/2 width; cut yarn. Un-tape 12 piece of yarn and knot tightly around the yarn wraps. Cut the yarn wraps on the opposite side of the 12 piece of yarn to release tassel from cardboard. Wrap yarn several times around tassel about 1 below top; tie tightly. Trim ends of tassel. Sew ends of the 12 piece of yarn to the end of one handle; knot securely. Weave in ends. Happy Crocheting! 9

You don t have to remove all the scrunchies to get the one you want. Just slide the strap through the rings until the button is beside the scrunchie you want to remove! Sew (with a double strand of yarn) through the unworked loops of round 5, sewing up through on st then down through the next, all the way around. Pull both ends of the yarn to gather the opening of the hat to about 2 1/2. Tie yarn ends to secure. Strap With white, ch 110. Row 1: Dc in the 3rd ch from hook, trc in each remaining ch across; turn. Row 2: Sl st in each st across, sl st in each of the 2 ch s at the tip of the strap, working in loop of foundation ch, sl st in each st across. Fasten off. Weave in ends. (The sl st s help keep the strap from stretching.) Finishing Sew black beads to powder puff for eyes. Embroider mouth with embroidery floss. Using artist s brush, apply a little powdered blush to cheeks; blend well. Push loop stitches of hair forward around face. Sew gathering area of part of the hat to the hair stitches only on the back ring, leaving the bottom of the back ring open. Arrange ruffles on hat. With needle and thread, sew the button to the end of the strap on the 2nd and 3rd from the last trc s. Insert strap between the rings. Button closed, using the space between the 1st and 2nd trc s as a buttonhole. Sew 1 ring to the back of the hat for hanging. Happy Crocheting! 12

Round 1: Work 2 sc in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of the next 3 chs, 3 sc in the last ch; working along the opposite side of the chain, sc in each of the next 3 chs, sc in the same ch as the first 2 sc; join with a sl st in the first sc. (12 sc) Round 2: Ch 1, work 2 sc in the same st as joining, sc in each of the next 5 sc, 3 sc in the next sc, sc in each of the next 5 sc, sc in the same st as the first sc; join with a sl st in the first sc.(16 sc) Round 3: Ch 1, sc in the same st as joining, 2 sc in the next sc, sc in each of the next 5 sc, 2 sc in each of the next 3 sc, sc in each of the next 5 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, sc in the same st as 15
the first sc; join with a sl st in the back loop only of the first sc. (22 sc) Round 4: Working in the back loop only, (sc dec over the next 2 sts) 11 times; join with a sl st in the first st. (11 sts) Round 5: (Sc dec over the next 2 sts) 5 times, sc in the next sc. (6 sts) Fasten off, leaving a 12" yarn tail for sewing. Assembly Thread yarn needle with elastic. Leaving an elastic tail of about 12", thread the center of the 2 neck yo-yo's on the elastic, then run the elastic through the ruffled piece C, then through 11 of the piece A yo-yo's for the first arm, then between 2 dc on round 1 of one of the piece B circles and then through the opposite space between 2 dc on the same piece B to secure the end of the first arm. Run the needle and elastic back through the 11 yo-yo's of the first arm, then through 11 of the piece B circles for the body, then through 15 of the piece A yo-yo's for the first leg, then between 2 dc on round 1 of one of the piece B circles and then through the opposite space between 2 dc on the same piece B to secure the end of the first leg. Run the needle and elastic back through the 11 yo-yo's of the first leg, then through then through 15 of the piece A yoyo's for the second leg, then between 2 dc on round 1 of one of the piece B circles and then through the opposite space between 2 dc on the same piece B to secure the end of the second leg. Run the elastic back through the 11 body circles, then through 11 of the piece A yo-yo's for the second arm, then between 2 dc on round 1 of one of the piece B circles and then through the opposite space between 2 dc on the same piece B to secure the end of the second arm. Run the elastic back through the ruffled piece C, the through the 2 neck yo-yo's, then through the opening at the bottom of the head at out the top of the head between 2 sc on round 1. Remove elastic from needle. Thread needle with beginning elastic tail and run through then through the opening at the bottom of the head at out the top of the head between 2 sc on round 1. Remove elastic from needle. Stuff head through bottom opening with fiber fill. Tie elastic ends together securely together and trim ends. Thread yarn needle with yarn tail on head and sew opening closed. Arrange wig on head and sew to head with yarn tail on wig. Sew gloves to the ends of arms and shoes to ends of legs.
