Safety glasses are the best way to protect your eyes. ALWAYS protect your body, especially your hands and fingers when using adhesives, knives, or tools, especially power tools. Do not cut toward exposed skin with hobby knives. Do not place hobby knives on tables or benches where they can roll off or be knocked off. It should only be operated by a competent pilot in a safe area with proper supervision. ONLY fly your aircraft in a safe, open area, away from spectators and vehicles and where it is legal to fly. NEVER fly over an unsafe area, such as a road or street. Never fly too close to yourself or spectators. Servos installation Step1. Locate the fuselage. Step4. Use foam glue to glue the servo into the servo opening in the fuselage. Step2. Locate two servos and two servo mounts. (We provide two sizes of servo mounts for 9g servo and 17g servo.) Step5. Connect a 12in servo extension into the servo lead. Step6. Use a ruler to cut a slot for the servo lead. Step3. Install the servos into the servo mounts. (You can use the self-tapping screw provided with the servo to secure the servo to the mount, or you can do this in next step.) Step7. Insert the servo lead into the slot.
Step8. Install the elevator servo and aileron servos using the same methods. www.valuehobby.com/su31-epp.html Aileron Servos Linkage Installation Step1. Locate the two M2*6mm bolts, two M2 nut, one pushrod connector, one servo arm and one servo arm extension. Step9. Install the aileron servos into the wing. Step2. Install the arm extension to the servo arm and install the pushrod connector to the extension. Step3. Install the assembled servo arm into the servo using the screw provided with the servo. (Need to center the servo electronically before the installing.) 8
Step4. Connect a pushrod to the control horn. (Need to enlarge the hole in the control horn.) www.valuehobby.com/su31-epp.html Tail and Rudder/Elevator Servo Linkage Installation Step1.Install the servo arms to the rudder servo and elevator servo. Step5. Use the pushrod as the guide, cut a slot on the aileron for installing the control horn. Step6. Use foam glue to install the control horn to the aileron. (Need to cut off the excessive pushrod wire.) Step2. Locate the horizontal stabilizer, control horn and wood control horn mount. Step7. With the aileron centered, tighten the screw to secure the pushrod to the servo arm. Step8. Repeat the previous steps to install the other aileron servo and linkage. 9
www.valuehobby.com/su31-epp.html Step3. Use foam glue to glue the wood mount to the elevator and install the control horn to the elevator. Step5. Apply thin CA to the area between the fuselage and tail. Step4. Insert the horizontal tail into the slot of the fuselage. Adjust the tail to make sure it is 90 degree with the fuselage, as well make sure the distance between one point in the fuselage and left tail wing tip and the distance between that point and right tail wing tip are the same. Step6. Use foam glue to glue the fin together. Step7. Glue the rudder to the fuselage. Make sure that the rudder is in the central line of the fuselage and it is perpendicular to the horizontal tail. 10
www.valuehobby.com/su31-epp.html Landing Gear and Tail Skid Installation Step1. Locate the items as shown. Step8. Cut a slot in the rudder for installing the control horn. Step2. Use two wheel collars to install the foam wheel to the landing gear wire. Step9. Install the rudder and elevator servo linkage using the some methods in the section of aileron servo linkage installation Step3. Install the other foam wheel to the landing wire. 11
www.valuehobby.com/su31-epp.html Step4. Locate the wood landing gear insert. Step7. Cut a slot in the bottom of the fuselage. Step5. Use one M2*16mm self-tapping screw and one wood insert to secure the landing gear into the fuselage. Step8. Insert the tail skid into the slot and apply some thin CA to the slot. Step6. Locate the tail skid. 12
Wing installation Step1. Locate four plastic hooks. www.valuehobby.com/su31-epp.html Step3. Locate the fiberglass wing tube and rudder bands. Step2. Glue them into the slots in the wings. Step4. Insert the wing tube into the fuselage. Step5. Attach two wing panels onto the fuselage along the wing tube. 13
Step6. Connect the rubber band to the hooks to make sure the wing panels are secured to the fuselage tightly. www.valuehobby.com/su31-epp.html Motor Installation Step1. Prepare a 2216/2217 motor with the motor mount installed. Step2. Position the motor onto the plastic motor mount and use a pen to mark the locations. Step3. Drill the mounting holes on the motor mount. (You don t need to drill through the firewall since we provide the self-tapping screws to install the motor.) 14
www.valuehobby.com/su31-epp.html Step4. Install the motor to the motor mount. (Some washers are needed in order to get a 1.5degree right thrust angel.) The slots for battery, ESC and receiver are pre-cut at the factory. Step5. Install the prop to the motor. Recommended CG The recommended CG is 140-150mm(5.5-5.9in) from the leading edge of the wing. Recommended control throw Aileron: 45 degrees up and down Elevator: 50 degrees up and down Rudder: 50 degrees right and left 15
