BASIC DRAFTING TECHNOLOGY COURSE DESCRIPTIONS DRT 1106 ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTING I (2-9-0-6) An introductory study of the basic information necessary for planning and designing various types of dwellings, preparing manual and computer-based architectural working drawings, and discovering the latest products and building techniques. This course provides knowledge of architectural drawing with emphasis on residential design. Skills development using the computer as a drafting/design tool in making drawings for residential design is stressed. DRT 1203 INTRODUCTION TO CAD (2-3-0-3) This is an introduction to history, terminology, styles, basic applications to the keys, start-up and shutdown procedures, printing, and plotting. Beginning hands-on applications. This course is designed to provide a basic knowledge of computer aided drafting systems and their application to the drafting field. The student will become knowledgeable in using the computer as a drafting tool to create detail drawings. DRT 1205 ARCHTECTURAL DRAFTING II (2-6-1-5) A continuation of DRT 1106 Architectural Drafting I that explores a more in-depth look at residential design. Emphasis is placed on space planning, roof design, floor plans, foundations, loads, stairways, and project management of construction. Prerequisite: DRT 1106 Architectural Drafting I MDT 1102 MECHANICAL DRAFTING I (1-2-1-2) This course is designed to provide students with the fundamentals of working drawings, including detail and assembly drawings, bills of materials, technical data, and related research. This course extends the student s knowledge of the drafting field relating to mechanical components used in industry. This course allows the student to develop additional skills in using the computer as a drafting/design tool. Prerequisite: DRT 1203 Introduction to CAD 56

MDT 1203 ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC DRAFTING (2-2-0-3) This course extends the student s knowledge of the drafting field to the electrical/electronics industry. A study of symbols and terms, electrical theory and safety, NEC, NEMA, across-the-line diagrams, monolithic schematic drawings, printed and micro-chip circuit drawings, and related sheet metal development drawings are emphasized. MDT 1304 MECHANICAL DRAFTING II (9-8-3-4) This course is a continuation of MDT 1102 Mechanical Drafting I with emphasis on advanced techniques and knowledge employed in the planning of mechanical objects. Including instruction in pipe drafting and the use of tolerancing and dimensioning techniques. This is a study of the concepts and functions of tolerances, fasteners, cams, and gears. Graphic emphasis is upon the development of drawing expertise. Prerequisite: MDT 1102 Mechanical Drafting I MDT 1403 INDUSTRIAL MACHINE DRAFTING I (2-3-0-3) This course is a study of machine design philosophy, design analysis, and dimensional determination. This course is designed to provide basic knowledge relating to mechanical drawing on the technical level.
