Storage of MACmark Viyl Films MACmark cut viyl markig films have a two year shelf-life whe the product is properly stored. MACmark films should be stored at temperatures betwee 60-78 F (15-25 C) ad a relative humidity of 40 to 60%. MACmark films should ot be directly exposed to high temperatures (ear radiators, i direct sulight, etc.). MACmark viyl rolls should be kept upright or hug o racks. At o time should they be placed o their sides as this could lead to a large matte sectio appearig throughout the etire roll. Cuttig MACmark Viyl Films 1) Use a kife with a sharp blade. a. Blut or wor kives will result i jagged edges. b. Applyig too much pressure whe usig a blut kife could result i the kife boucig off the backig paper, which meas that the adhesive will ot be cut all the way through. 2) Cut to the correct depth. The kife should cut all the way through the viyl ad the adhesive. a. If the cut is ot deep eough (the viyl ad/or if the adhesive is ot cut all the way through), the letters ad logos that you have cut out could be pulled away durig weedig. b. If the cuts are too deep, the the backig could split whe the letters or logos are beig trasferred oto the applicatio tape. Weedig MACmark Viyl Films Mactac recommeds weedig as soo as the shapes have bee cut out. This is because the thickess of the adhesive layer could result i it resealig itself if the viyl is left for several hours before weddig, or if it has bee exposed to temperatures above 78 F (25 C). For best weedig results, use a peelig agle of approximately 30 ad pull at a steady speed. Surface Preparatio Applyig Applicatio Tape The applicatio tape should be lamiated usig a lamiator. If this is ot possible, the apply the applicatio tape o a flat, stable surface with a stiff plastic squeegee, workig outward from the ceter of the graphic. If there are ay air bubbles trapped betwee the tape ad the viyl, prick them usig a eedle. Tapes available: 210 Low Tack & 220 Medium Tack. If the adhesive does ot have full cotact with a clea dry surface, it will ot stick ad will result i premature failure of the graphic. Eve if the surface appears clea, all surfaces should be cleaed usig: 1) Soapy water, the rise with clea water (do ot leave ay trace of soap o the surface). 2) Clea away ay petrochemical cotamiates (tar, oil, grease) usig a good automotive cleaer or wax remover. 3) Wipe dow the surface with isopropyl alcohol. Dry the surface usig a clea, lit free, dry cloth or paper towel, before the isopropyl alcohol has had a chace to evaporate.
Applyig MACmark Viyl Films to the Substrate 1) A wet or dry applicatio method ca be used. Fiishig your MACmark Graphic a. Dry is the most reliable method. b. Whe doig the wet method, use a professioal applicatio fluid istead of soap ad water. 2) Heat should be used whe applyig graphics over rivets, curves ad corrugatios. 1) Seams will hold moisture ad flex resultig i a pre-mature failure of the graphic. a. Slit seams the etire legth of the substrate. b. Do ot caulk the seam of the graphic or it will ot adhere. 2) Edge sealig is required wheever the graphic is will be exposed to liquids that ca attack the adhesive. 3) Clea the graphics. a. Use a brush ad edge sealig varish, brush alog the edge i a smooth, cotiuous motio. Make sure the etire edge is sealed. a. Use a wet o-abrasive type cleaer, similar to those used for paited graphics. If you use a strog acid, alkalie or solvet cleaer, you will damage your graphic. Removig MACmark Viyl 1) Heat the viyl to a temperature of 160-175 F (70-80 C) usig a heat gu or hot air blower (air temperature of +/- 575 F or 300 C). 2) Peel off the MACmark i small pieces (approximately 8 x 10 ). 3) Use a approved viyl removal fluid. 4) Adhesive residue ca be removed usig a towel soaked i isopropyl alcohol or adhesive remover.
