Operation technique - Ø Cannulated Screws 1 Reduce fracture and insert guide wire After a small incision the Ø 1.2 mm guide wire is inserted into the bone. 2 Determine the screw length Use the measuring device and advance the down to the cortical bone and determine the approprial screw length directly on the scale. 3 Insert stacked sleeves Over the guide wire the assembled drill sleeve system is pushed down through the soft tissues to the bone. Note: You can either use the standard Double Drill Sleeve (Ref.: 08.20060.027) or the Percutaneous Drill Sleeve (Ref.: 08.20060.035) and the Drill Sleeve insert (Ref.: 08.20060.036/.037). Page 9

Drilling and Countersinking The cannulated drill bit Ø 2.7 mm (Ref.: 08.20010.027) is used for predrilling the hole for the cannulated screw. 4 Note: For a compression hole the usage of the Ø cannulated drill bit (Ref.: 08.20010.035) is recommended for the near fragment. The cannulated countersink is used in situations where the bone is surrounded by a thin layer of soft tissue to prevent a projection of the head and therefore pain. Screw insertion Insert the appropriate cannulated screw with the cannulated screw driver (Ref.: 08.20040.025). 5 Page 10

Operation technique - Ø 4.5 mm Cannulated Screws 1 Reducing fracture and insert the stacked sleeve assembly After reduction the stacked sleeve assembly is advanced to the near cortical bone through a small incision. 2 Insert the guide wire The sleeve assembly is inserted, over the placed guide wire, through the small incision to the bone. Note: With the Parallel Targeting Device (Ref.: 08.20060.016) you get the option in unstable situations to insert a second parallel guide wire. 3 Determine the screw length Use the measuring device (Ref.: 08.20120.045) and advance them, through the outer sleeve (Ref.: 08.20120.045), down to the cortical bone and determine the appropriate screw length directly on the scale. Page 11

Drilling and Countersinking The cannulated drill bit Ø 3.2 mm (Ref. 08.20010.032) is used for predrilling the hole for the cannulated screw through the drill guide sleeve which is connected back to the outer sleeve. 4 Note: For a compression hole usage of the Ø 4.5 mm (Ref.: 08.20010.045) cannulated drill bit is recommeded for the near fragment. The cannulated countersink (Ref.: 08.20030.045) is used in situations where the bone is surrounded by a thin layer of soft tissue to prevent a projection of the head and therefore pain. Screw insertion Insert the appropriate cannulated screw through the outer sleeve (Ref.: 08. 20120.045) using the cannulated screw driver (Ref. 08.20040.135). 5 Page 12
