Warning Regarding Draft Use of any offset adapter may degrade draft performance of the insert. To minimize the adverse effects, set the adapter to the minimum offset possible. Any leaks in the adapter or flue connection will reduce draft performance and increase the chance of smoke entering the room when the door is opened. Follow the instructions below to ensure the adapter is sealed. Flue Offset Dimensions Minimum Depth into Fireplace 15-1/8" Minimum Offset 11-1/2" Maximum Depth into Fireplace 17-3/8" Maximum Offset 14" 22" 20-5/8" Packing List Flue Adapter (top and bottom) (3) #8 Self-Drilling Screws Stove Cement Installation Instructions 1. Determine the amount of offset needed for your installation. 2. Remove the two bolts that secure the stock flue adapter to the insert (7/16 Nutdriver). NOTE: Flue adapter is tight and may need to be knocked loose with a hammer. Page 1 of 5 17601880-9/4/15 Travis Industries, Inc.
3. Prepare the connector that attaches the flexible liner to the flue adapter. Fit the connector into the flue adapter to gauge fitment. -- If it is a loose (¼ gap) apply the gasket tape (included with the insert) to the connector. Then insert the connector into the flue adapter and screw it into place using the included self-drilling screws. -- If the liner is not loose enough to use the gasket tape, apply a bead of stove cement to the inside of the connector. Then insert the connector into the flue adapter and screw it in top place using the three selfdrilling screws included with the stove. 4. Apply a bead of stove cement to the connector perimeter to ensure a proper seal.. Page 2 of 5 17601880-9/4/15 Travis Industries, Inc.
5. Set the adapter to the desired position. Then slide it backward 1/8. Apply a bead of stove cement to the seams between the 2 flue adapter sections. Then slide the adapter together 1/8. This helps force the cement into the seams. Attach the adapter sections together using the remaining 3 self-drilling screws do not fully tighten at this time. 6. Apply stove cement to the bottom seam. Use your finger (with disposable glove) to force the stove cement into all the joints. Tighten the 3 screws (top screw first, side screws last). 7. Attach the flue adapter to the flexible liner. Seal the connection with stove cement. Position the liner, with adapter attached, so that it is at the correct height (approximately 18 from the firebox floor). After the liner and adapter is attached the chimney liner can be trimmed at the top of the chimney to provide proper liner height. NOTE: When installing the chimney liner leave it long so it hangs down into the fireplace cavity for easy attachment to the flue adapter. HINT: Placing the flue connector near its final position is key to an easy installation. 8. Slide the insert into place. Make sure the adapter fits over the opening for the flue. 9. A flue adapter pull-stick is included with the insert to align the flue adapter. Insert the pull stick through one of the holes for the flue adapter bolt. 10. Thread the pull stick into the flue adapter and turn 4 to 6 times. 11. Use the pull stick to guide the flue adapter into position. Push the insert slightly, then pull on the pull stick. 12. Repeat step 11 until the insert is in position. Small Flush Wood Flue Adapter 13. Remove the pull stick and place it aside (behind surround panels, inside the fireplace for future use). 14. Replace the two bolts removed in step 2. Tighten the bolts fully, making sure the flue adapter is seated. Page 5 of 5 17601880-9/4/15 Travis Industries, Inc.
