K E Y N O T E A D D R E S S The opening address is by the highly respected Mr. Sean Rainbird who is the Director of the National Gallery of Ireland. His discussion surrounds the topic of the cultural impact that art plays on collecting in Ireland and the important role that collectors play in supporting the National Gallery and the Culture of Ireland. C O N F E R E N C E L E A R N I N G The audience discovers the interconnectivity and impact of the healthy art ecosystem on the art market. It gives a unique insight into how the market and patronage merge and challenge each other in equal measure. Participants develop transferable professional skills in art business and formulate their own position in relation to the art market both nationally and internationally. P A N E L A G E N D A S The First Panel is focused on the Collector in Art Ecosystem. It is comprised of a combination of business and artistic practitioners who share their individual perspectives on where the art market rests in economic and cultural terms. These experts explore the role of museums, art fairs and critics and their influence on art market s collector preferences today with analysis of the multiplication of exhibition platforms compared with the museum model, commercial galleries and auction houses. The panel discusses the role of education and the accessibility of independent information, important in development of a collector culture in Ireland and internationally. The audience is taken on a voyage of discovery into these professionals interpretations and evaluations of the current buying trends in both contemporary and traditional works of art. The Second Panel is focused on Art Market Strategy and reflects upon the ever increasing interest in investing in fine art. This timely and informative section of the conference explores the power of good advice from art market professionals in terms of wealth management and collection strategy. It looks at collector strategies from investing in emerging art to more well-known high value works of art. The speakers within this panel offer their expert insights into the importance of protecting one s collection in terms of archiving, insurance, tax and legal issues that result in the long term resilience of their collection.
