General Information Solid Edge Options dialog box In general, Solid Edge Options are used for setting up initial drawing view creation. This means that changing settings in Solid Edge Options will NOT force existing drawing views or other objects out-of-date to be updated based on the changed option. However, some options may be interrogated again when objects are updated and will impact the display of those objects. Page 5
Solid Edge Options - General Tab Drawing Views and Annotations The options at the bottom of the list are more for drawing views and annotations. These are covered in this document. Page 6
Property Text Error Display Property Text Error Controls Controls the display text when property text fails. When the option is changed, the display will update when property text is updated. For information about property text and reference text, see the help topics: Referencing properties Using property text Using reference text Create reference text Create property text Page 7
Property Text Error Display Property Text Error Controls When property text is evaluated, the text is displayed. Author: %{Author GP} Property text definition If Author - Property is a valid property in the referenced part. Then displays the text for the property. Page 8
Property Text Error Display Property Text Error Controls Show Solid Edge Error This is the default. Displays the localized default display string. Error: No reference Author: %{MyAuthor GP} Property text definition If MyAuthor - Property does not exist in referenced part. Then displays the default error string. Page 9
Property Text Error Display Property Text Error Controls Do not show error No error text displayed. Author: %{MyAuthor GP} Property text definition If MyAuthor - Property does not exist in referenced part. Then displays nothing for the property text. You may not notice that there is an issue!!! Page 10
Property Text Error Display Property Text Error Controls Show my error Display the user defined string Author: %{MyAuthor GP} Property text definition If MyAuthor - Property does not exist in referenced part. Then displays the user defined error string. Page 11
Assembly Configurations and Drawing Views Configurations and Out-Of-Date Drawing Views Assembly configuration changes This is a daft file specific property. It is not a drawing view specific property. It is an additional check for out-of-date (OOD). Checked by default. Checked Document transition adds OOD check for configuration changes when: Draft file opens. Switch from assembly back to draft. Unchecked Document transition does not check configuration changes for OOD. Can manually check for configuration changes with drawing view properties. Drawing View Properties Display Tab Page 12
Sheet Distance vs. Model Distance Dimensions Enable sheet distance dimension values Not a drawing view specific property. Dimensions are on the sheet, not on the drawing view. Unchecked by default. Page 13
Sheet Distance vs. Model Distance Dimensions Enable sheet distance Unchecked Dimensions between drawing views display model distance. Notice that the value of the two dimensions is the same. Typical when dimensioning between source drawing view and detail view. Distance on sheet does not matter. Dimension by Model Distance Page 14
Sheet Distance vs. Model Distance Dimensions Enable sheet distance Unchecked Dimensions between drawing views display model distance. Dimension Between two center circles. Error because the dimension is to the same point in the model. Creates a zero value dimension. Dimension by Model Distance Page 15
Sheet Distance vs. Model Distance Dimensions Enable sheet distance Checked Dimensions between drawing views display sheet distance. Will still scale dimension value based on drawing view at dimension origin. If scale is an issue, work with Scale Mode in Dimension Properties. Take care in setting up drawings to account for this. Cannot have it both ways in the same Draft file. Dimension by Sheet Distance Page 16
Empty Text Boxes and Callout Display Envelopes? What are all of those envelopes on my drawing? They are empty callout and text boxes. Shown to help you clean up the drawing! They do not print when displayed. When not displayed: Can affect fit. Can affect locate. Page 17 For more information, see the help topic: Place a text box or text string
Multi-Core Drawing View Processing Drawing View Update (Multi-Core Support) Solid Edge Options Bottom of the General tab Enable/Disable Enabled by default. Minimum requirements for multi-core processing: 10 GB memory minimum Multiple physical cores Page 18
Multi-Core Drawing View Processing Drawing View Update (Multi-Core Support) Only uncheck if you are experiencing problems with drawing views not updating. Fine-tuning By default, drawing view update uses 2 cores. Try improving performance by using the following: Add as a DWORD (32bit) value: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Unigraphi cs Solutions\Solid Edge\Version 109\DEBUG\ DRAFT_MULTICORE_MAX_NUM Testing shows that setting this equal to the number of physical cores achieves optimum performance. (4 Cores Set to 4) Page 19
