About the Company Atlas Commercial Co ( Kwt) W.L.L is one of the oldest companies in Kuwait (Est. 1962) dealing in Lumber, Wood Products, Galvanized Steel and allied products. It has five retail outlets dedicated to selling wood and building products to the Kuwait market. Wood is one of the most natural and sustainable building material commonly used in construction. 2 Engineered Wood Hard and soft woods It is common to classify wood as either softwood or hardwood. The wood from conifers (e.g. pine) is called softwood, and the wood from dicotyledons (usually broadleaved trees, e.g. oak) is called hardwood. These names are a bit misleading, as hardwoods are not always necessarily hard, and softwoods are not necessarily soft. The wellknown balsa (a hardwood) is actually softer than any commercial softwood. Conversely, some softwoods (e.g. yew) are harder than many hardwoods. Atlas Commercial Co., has an extensive range of Softwood in all popular market sizes including some special sizes Austrian Spruce exclusively from STORAENSO, and Romanian Spruce North American SPF (Spruce Pine Fir) Surfaced Lumber. Hardwoods in all popular market sizes including some special sizes. Red Meranti, Okume, German & Romanian Beech, Kapur, American Walnut, African Teak ( Iroko), Red Oak, African Sapele are the more popular species we carry. Engineered wood, also called composite wood, or manufactured board, includes a range of derivative wood products which are manufactured by binding or fixing the strands, particles, fibers, or veneers or boards of wood, together with adhesives, or other methods of fixation[1] to form composite materials, such as plywood, chipboard, hardboard, medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and laminate flooring. Engineered wood products include Plywood (Ordinary, Film faced and Veneered) Block boards (Ordinary and Veneered) MDFs, (Ordinary, Melamine (From MODECOR) and Veneered) Veneers Laminated wooden Flooring (From MODECOR) Laminated Wood Beams (from Stora Enso) We offer our customers, lumber and wood products from around the world from socially and environmentally responsible forestry. Atlas also has a Pallet Plant with a capacity of 800 heat treated stringer pallets per day. Additionally we supply heat treated lumber and plywood or heat treatment services to clients that bring us their green lumber and plywood. (ISPM # 002).
