Kerry Association In Dublin Newsletter September 2014 Dear Members Our recent trip to Áras an Uachtaráin where a fantastic afternoon was enjoyed by all Welcome to our Autumn 2014 Newsletter. I hope you are enjoying the Indian Summer. Since our May newsletter we have enjoyed an evening at the opening night of John B. Keane s, Moll, at the Gaiety Theatre in May, an evening at Leopardstown Races in mid July and a fantastic afternoon in Áras an Uachtaráin on 2 nd September where we enjoyed afternoon tea, an excellent guided tour, and the opportunity to stroll around the gardens of the Áras. As Kerry people in the capital, we ve a very special weekend to look forward to this weekend with the minor and senior teams in the All Ireland. The Golf Classic will be held on Friday September 19th at Lucan Golf Club. The cost per team is 1,000 which includes: Four ball golf on one of the best parkland courses in Dublin 2 All Ireland stand tickets with option to purchase 2 more Attractive selection of team prizes Post golf dinner in the Clubhouse Sponsorship of a hole of 500 entitles the sponsor to one stand ticket with an option to purchase one more. The cost of the post match function tickets are 20.00. Tickets are for sale on a first come first served basis from The County Secretary at the County Committee Offices. Tickets are also available from any member of the Association s committee.

Weekend Away The Kerry Association in Dublin is organising its usual weekend to Dungarvan this year. We look forward to meeting our Kerry and Cork friends again. Friday 10th October 2014 We are travelling by coach this year. Coach will leave Parnell Square at 10:30am. We travel to Carlow where we visit the Delta Sensory Gardens. The Delta Sensory Gardens consist of a series of connecting gardens in an oasis of peace and beauty. We can avail of a snack or light lunch at our own expense. We will drive on to the Park Hotel Dungarvan to relax or enjoy the full leisure facilities of the hotel. If you wish to avail of any Spa facilities it is recommended that you book in advance. Dinner at 7:30pm followed by music in the bar and then the usual sing song until late. Saturday 11th October Breakfast will be served up to 10:30am. Depart hotel by coach at 11:00am for a visit to the Dunbrody Famine Ship and the Kennedy Homestead in New Ross. Return to Hotel for dinner at 8:00pm. Music in the Bar and usual sing song. Sunday 12th October 2014 Breakfast will be served up to 10:30am. Depart hotel at 12 noon. We will travel along the Copper Coast to Waterford. We will be able to visit the Waterford Crystal Shop. We hope also to have some time for some retail therapy. We return to Dublin and arrive back in Parnell Square at 6:00pm approx. The cost of this weekend which includes two nights Dinner, Bed and Breakfast, Return coach trip from Dublin and coach trip on Saturday is 170 per person sharing. Single room supplement of 15 per night will apply. Early booking is advisable. Refreshments will be served afterwards at the Harcourt Hotel on Harcourt Street. GAA Night with the Stars The Kerry GAA Supporters Club in Dublin is organising a night with some of our Kerry GAA Stars in Davenport Hotel on Friday 21 st November. A similar hugely enjoyable night was held last year in Shelbourne Park where a panel of speakers comprising Colm Cooper, Donnchadh O Connor, Jack O Shea and Micheál O Muircheartaigh joined in a panel discussion hosted by TG4 s Marcus O Buachalla. Details are currently being finalised and will be circulated to you in due course but for now, SAVE THE DATE! Kerry Person of the Year We are launching our search for the next Kerry Person of the Year. One of the highlights of the social calendar for the Kerry Association in Dublin is presentation of the prestigious Kerry Person of the Year award each Spring. From Dr. Michael Carmody in 1979 to Archeacon Michael Murphy in 2014, the roll of honour of previous recipients is most impressive even on a national level and shows just how blessed Kerry is with talented and wonderful people. Nominations are now being accepted for the next Kerry Person of the Year and this year the closing date for nominations is 30 November. The nomination form is attached. There are many people deserving a nomination for Kerry Person of the Year. Don t assume others will nominate them!

Membership Form Annual Membership falls due in April each year. If you have already paid we would like to say "thank you". If you have forgotten please forward 20.00 to the address below.
