Yu will find a cpy f the syllabus yu are undertaking, presented as tw units. Unit 1 Design fr craft is a cmmn unit fr all qualificatin at this level. It intrduces yu t the way in which design ideas develp s that yu can take them frward int yur chsen craft. Unit 2 Craft is a specific unit fr the subject yu have chsen t study. The syllabus gives details f what yu have t prduce as evidence that yu have achieved the utcmes listed. Yu will gain skills in the practice f the craft and in the knwledge f materials, techniques and prcesses applicable t this level f wrk. At the end f each unit, there is an assessment recrd sheet t be cmpleted by yur tutr/assessr, in discussin with yu, as yu achieve each f the utcmes. In additin t this, yur tutr/assessr will keep ther recrds f yur prgress which yu can see, as required. Yur tutr/assessr is the persn wh makes nging decisins abut yur achievement. It aims t assess the ability t use a range f materials and mediums, based n a persnal apprach, in rder t understand the visual implicatins f the design prcess. Outcmes There are fur utcmes fr this unit. The candidate will be able t: 1 use primary clurs t prduce secndary clurs, add black and white t prduce tints, tnes and shades 2 explre the qualities f line and mark-making 3 demnstrate the relatinship between shape and frm 4 create a range f surface textures using simple techniques. It aims t develp practical skills, using a range f materials t recrd this subject matter. The unit utilises the principles f Unit 1 thrughut the utcmes - planning, preparing, making and cmpleting the items. Outcmes There are five utcmes fr this unit. The candidate will be able t: 1 apply basic design ideas t planning and making fr the craft 2 plan, prepare and manage the making f craft items t a design brief 3 perate tls and equipment applicable t this craft carefully, safely and effectively 4 make well cnstructed craft items t a design brief 5 appreciate the cntextual influences relating t the craft.
