INSTALLING THE SIDE TABLES: Remove the bolts from the side of the cutter table and install the side tables (There is a left and a right side to the side tables). Next, make sure that the side tables are flush with the top of the main table. Now install the back plates for the side tables. 6
Install the side table bracket to the back of the back plates and the side table. TABLE SQUARING: If you need to square the table and bed, remove the front cover under the main table and use this nut and bolt to make any adjustments. Power up the cutter using the Main Switch to start up the cutter (Note: The Main Switch has a run position and a start position, turn the switch to the middle (1) run position, then to the momentary (START) position) and check cutter for square. 7
OPERATING PROCEDURE: Main Switch 0 1 START Three positions: 0 = Off. 1 = Turns on the microprocessor and cut light. Start = Starts motor. After installation of the main electrical supply, turn the Main Switch (1) to the one 1 position. This will activate the microprocessor circuit and cut light. To make a cut, the main switch must be turned to momentary START position to start the hydraulic motor (the run indicator light (2) will glow) and the Programatic Mark-II controller. At this time, the backgauge will move to the back of the cutter bed and calibrate the Mark-II. Now the machine is ready to operate. At this time, the backgauge can be moved to a any position by using the Mark-II control panel (10), or you can use the Hand Wheel (6) to move the backgauge if fine adjustments are needed. Place your paper against the backgauge and sideguide and make a cut by simultaneously depressing both cut buttons (7). If you want to check whether the paper is in the correct position before cutting, depress the hydraulic Foot Clamp pedal (5) to lower the clamp until it is resting on the paper. After completing a cut, the knife and clamp will return automatically to its home position, at this time release both cut buttons. NOTE: When cutting, if you release either of the cut buttons, (even for half a second) the knife will stop and the cutter will not continue to cut. You must reset the cutter by releasing both buttons and let the blade and clamp return it s home position. Now you may finish your cut. If (or when) you walk away from the machine or don t use the machine continuously, it will shut off automatically (the machine will go into a power saving mode). This function should engage after about 10 minutes. 8
TO ADJUST THE CLAMPING PRESSURE: By turning the Clamp Pressure adjustment knob (9), you can set the proper pressure for the clamp. The pressure should be set to 700psi as a default. However, you can vary this from 550 to 850psi depending on the job. To check/set the clamp pressure, depress the cut buttons (7) simultaneously. After the clamp has come in contact with the paper stack, the knife will cut the paper automatically, as the knife is cutting through the stack, note the pressure on the gauge (8) and adjust if nessary. Turning the Clamp Pressure adjustment knob (9): To increase pressure, turn the knob clockwise. To decrease pressure, turn the knob anti-clockwise. Follow the above and note the new revised pressure. After you have set the pressure, you need to use the lock ring just behind the knob to lock the knob into place. 9
TO CHANGE THE BLADE: 1. Turn the Blade Change switch (3) to the on position. 2. Turn the Depth of Cut adjustment (4) to the left (minimum position). 3. Depress both cut buttons until the blade is in the full bottom cut position. 4. Using the tools provides, remove all blade bolts and insert the two blade change handles into the blade through the two open ended slots in the blade carrier. 5. Turn off the Blade Change switch, the blade carrier will return to the home position. 6. Holding the blade change handles, remove the dull blade from the carrier. 7. At this time, turn or replace the cutter stick. 8. Use the blade change handles to insert the new blade into the blade carrier and lift the blade to the top of the carrier slots and tighten the handles to hold in place. 9. Turn the blade change switch on. 10. Depress both cut buttons until the blade is in the full bottom cut position. 11. Remove the handles and replace with all blade bolts. 12. Push the blade to the left side of the carrier, then check the position of blade edge and make sure the edge is flush to the cutting stick, then tighten all blade bolts. 13. Remove all tools. Turn off the blade change switch. The blade carrier and the clamp will return automatically to its home position. 14. Test cut a full stack of paper. 15. If the bottom sheets are not cut, then adjust the Depth of Cut adjustment clockwise one line at a time. This will lower the blade towards the cutting stick. 10
