Shoemaker III (1901-1987) was a resident of the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the author of the two-volume series of genealogical works titled Shoemaker Pioneers. Biography/History Benjamin H. Shoemaker III (1901-1987) was a resident of the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Germantown Friends School and Yale University, and worked as an investment banker. Shoemaker was an active member of many social clubs, sporting clubs, as well as a number of local historical societies. He was the author of the two-volume series of genealogical works titled Shoemaker Pioneers. His father was the owner of Benjamin H. Shoemaker, Inc., importers and distributors of window glass, polished plate, and wire glass, etc. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bibliography: Newspaper clipping found in collection. "Benjamin H. Scope and Contents This collection is comprised of genealogical research compiled by Shoemaker as well as personal papers and photographs. There is a small amount of records relating to Shoemaker's father's company, Benjamin Shoemaker, Inc. Benjamin Shoemaker III's papers include genealogical research, correspondence (1970s-1980s), and tax records (1985-1986). There are also papers and ephemera relating to various clubs Shoemaker was involved with, including Explorers Club (1974-1985), Racket Club (1977), and Yale University alumni (60th reunion, 1983). His papers also include family photographs (circa 1905-1910), international photograph album (circa 1930-1950), and two post card albums of ships (circa 1900-1920).
