Grade 9 SKETCHBOOK FUN 10% of Final Mark Your should demonstrate a different drawings: - Representational drawings (still life, figure, portraits, landscapes) - Collage works (mixed media sources) - Abstract drawings - Sketches (brainstorming and preliminary and concepts) - Conceptual Designs - Storyboards - Cartoons and Doodles - Poetry and Writings (song lyrics, memorable quotes) - Reflection entries about your work - Research drawings - Art Articles from the newspaper - Drawing in the style of another artist (appropriation) - Parody of an existing work - Fantasy dream drawing - Object at extreme angle or point of view Materials: Sketchbook, pencil eraser (optional: ink, paint, etc.) Guidelines: Students must bring their s and drawing utensils to every art class. Students will have some time throughout the week to work on assignments. Students will need to work on sketches at home to develop acceptable imagery. Sketchbooks will be collected twice throughout the semester. Aim to complete at least 1 sketch every 2 weeks. Entries need to be (in order). Requirements: Remember to DATE your drawings as you will be evaluated through the semester (ongoing). Each drawing/ creation should take a minimum of one hour. If you choose to make something (instead of drawing) it must be documented in your by you taking a photograph of it and then pasting this image into the. Marking for Sketchbook assignments: You must complete a minimum of 5 assignments for this course. If you do more than 5, I will choose the best 5 to mark. The evaluation will be based on the different drawings demonstrating on going and personal investigation of different themes/ subject matter throughout the semester.

*choose your final 2 sketches based on the following list. 1. Draw a place around the outside of your home. This can be a plant, part of the building or objects on the porch. Use ink and watercolor to create a strong contrast between the color and the ink. Crosshatching as a style is suggested but not required. 2. Look at yourself in a spoon- draw the distorted image 3. Study your feet and shoes. Create a strong thick and thin contour drawing of your shoes drawing from different angles. Include more than one drawing on the same page over lapping and filling the format. Pen or pencil 4.Make a DETAILED drawing of your eye and the area around it. Include everything you see when observing closely in clear, even lighting. 5. Draw a series of animals in motion. Such as a cheetah running, a rabbit hopping, a bird flying. This can be in any media and you can use just three views or images in a row. 6. grouping of photographs of you, your family or friends in collage form 7. Draw a piece of furniture in your house. This can be in color or black and white. Sit in an area and observe the lines and shapes of the piece. Use it as your inspiration today. 2) Take a 5 minute walk, then make something using whatever materials are available where you ve ended up. It could be in the form of juice, jam or even canned. Work in front of a mirror, looking at what you re creating only in the mirror until you re finished.
