Half Square Triangles Cutting and Sewing Number of half square triangles Unit s to make for each size quilt. Crib Lap Twin Full Queen King Fabric A/Fabric D Fabric B/Fabric D Fabric C/Fabric D Cut the 3 / x strips into 3 / squares for A, B, C, and D fabrics. Layer one square of fabric D to each of the other fabrics, right sides together. Have the fabric D square on top, lay a ruler from corner to corner and draw a line from point to point as shown below: Drawn Line Ruler Stitch / from the drawn line as shown below: Stitching Line Stitching Line Cutting Line Cut on the drawn line, open and press towards the dark. Sew the Blocks Cut the 3 / x Fabric C strips into 3 / squares. Refer to Page Two for number of squares needed. Sew unit s into rows as shown. Press Row and 3 towards the outer edge. Press row towards the center. Sew the rows together creating. Press seams up. Sew units s and s into rows as shown. Press towards unit s. Sew rows together, creating. Press seams down. Arrange blocks as shown. The number of columns and rows is on Page Two. Sew blocks together to create rows. Piecing Borders Depending on size of quilt, it will be necessary to piece border strips together to have the length for the side, top and bottom borders. Place two pieces of border together as shown (right sides together). Drawn Line Draw a line as shown. Stitch on the line. Trim fabric to / and press. Adding Borders Measure the quilt through the center vertically. Piece the sides of the first border together if necessary. Measure the center of the quilt horizontally. Piece the top and bottom of the first border if necessary. Sew the top and the bottom of the first border to the quilt using a / seam allowance. Press towards the border. Repeat steps for the first border to complete the second border. Once the top is complete, prepare the backing.
