FABRIC REQUIREMENTS 1 Dainty Darling Fat Quarter Bundle (FQ-5620-18) 1½ yards (1.4 m) aqua main (C5850 Main) 3 yards (2.75 m) Riley white solid (C120 Riley White) Binding 5/8 yard (60 cm) CUTTING REQUIREMENTS Please read instructions first before cutting. Seam allowances vary so measure through the center of the quilt before cutting sashing and border pieces. Fat Quarter Bundle aqua main. Cut 3 squares 5" x 5", 3 squares 4½" x 4½", and 5 squares 2½" x 2½" from pink main. yellow main. Cut 1 square 5" x 5", 1 square 4½" x 4½", and 5 squares 2½" x 2½" from aqua bow. 2½" x 2½" from pink bow. yellow bow. Cut 1 square 5" x 5", 1 square 4½" x 4½", and 5 squares 2½" x 2½" from aqua daisy. 2½" x 2½" from pink daisy. yellow daisy. Cut 5 squares 2½" x 2½" from aqua floral. pink floral. Aqua Main Cut 7 strips 6½" x WOF for Border 2. Riley White Solid Cut 3 strips 2½" x WOF. Cut the strips into 36 squares 2½" x 2½". Cut 5 strips 2½" x WOF. Cut the strips into 36 rectangles 2½" x 4½". Cut 9 strips 2½" x WOF. Cut the strips into 36 rectangles 2½" x 8½". Cut 3 strips 2½" x WOF. Cut the strips into 6 rectangles 2½" x 18½" for sashing. Cut 3 strips 2½" x WOF. Sew the strips together and cut into 2 rectangles 2½" x 58½" for sashing. Cut 6 strips 2½" x WOF for Border 1. Cut 5 strips 5" x WOF. Cut the strips into 36 squares 5" x 5". QUILT ASSEMBLY Refer to the Quilt Center Diagram for placement of fabrics and blocks as each block is a different combination of fabrics.
Darling Block These instructions are to make 1 block. Draw a line from corner to corner on the wrong side of 4 assorted print 5" squares. Place an assorted print 5" square on top of a Riley white solid 5". Sew ¼" on each side of the drawn line. Cut on the lines to make 2 Half Square Triangles. Press. Repeat to make 8 Half Square Triangles. Square up the Half Square Triangles to 4½". Flower Unit Sew 2 Flower Units and a Riley white solid 2½" x 8½" rectangle together to make Row 1. Half Square Triangle Sew a Riley white solid 2½" square and an assorted print 2½" square together to create Unit A. Repeat to make 4 Unit As. Row 1 Sew 2 Riley white solid 2½" x 8½" rectangles and an assorted print 2½" square together to make Row 2. Unit A Sew a Riley white solid 4½" square and a Unit A together to create Unit B. Repeat to make 4 Unit Bs. Row 2 Sew 2 Flower Units and a Riley white solid 2½" x 8½" rectangle together to make Row 3. Unit B Sew a Half Square Triangle and a Unit B together to create Unit C. Repeat to make 4 Unit Cs. Row 3 Sew Rows 1, 2, and 3 together to create the Darling Block. Repeat to make 9 assorted Darling Blocks. Unit C Sew a Half Square Triangle and an assorted print 4½" square together to create Unit D. Repeat to make 4 Unit Ds. Unit D Sew a Unit C and a Unit D together to create the Flower Unit. Repeat to make 4 Flower Units. Darling Block Block and Sashing Refer to the Quilt Center Diagram for Darling Block and sashing placement. Sew a Darling Block to Riley white solid 2½" x 18½" rectangle. Repeat to make a row with 3 blocks and 2 sashing rectangles. Make 3 block and sashing rows. 2
Quilt Center Assembly Refer to the Quilt Center Diagram for row and sashing placement. Lay out the 3 block and sashing rows and the 2 Riley white solid 2½" x 58½" sashing rectangles. Sew rows together to complete the center of the quilt. Borders Seam allowances vary so measure through the center of the quilt before cutting border pieces. Sew border strips together end to end if necessary to get the length needed. Sew side borders first. Border 1 Side borders should be 58½". Top and bottom borders should be 62½". Border 2 Side borders should be 62½". Top and bottom borders should be 74½". Finish quilt by layering the quilt top, batting, and back.
