ASI has prepared this master product specification in printed and electronic media, as an aid to specifiers to prepare written construction documents for ADA compliant, framed signs, for interior use. Edit this master to suit project requirements. Modify or add items as necessary. Delete items that are not applicable. Edit to avoid conflicting requirements. Words and sentences within brackets [ ] reflect a choice to be made regarding inclusion or exclusion of a particular item or statement. This section may include performance, proprietary and descriptive specifications. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. B. Section Includes: FASCIA INTERIOR FRAMED SIGNS & DIRECTORIES Acrylic Face with Second-Surface Digital Color and Graphics, with Applied Raised Lettering and Braille, with Aluminum and Steel Frame ************* FASCIAFREESTYLE includes a complete line of interior sign and directory products for the entire facility. Many signs are updateable by the facility manager. If specific sign quantities, sizes, layouts, and graphic processes are not scheduled, an allowance may be utilized to set aside a monetary amount sufficient for purchase, delivery, and installation of signage. C. [Allowances: Work of this section is affected by allowances. Refer to Division 1 for allowance amounts and requirements.] 1.2 REFERENCES A. Products shall meet applicable requirements of the following standards in addition to any additional applicable state and local regulations: 1. Federal Standards for Accessible Design (SAD), 2010. 2. National Fire Protection Association, NFPA 101, the Life Safety Code. 1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE Include quality assurance requirements consistent with the size and scope of the project and extent of work of this section. Only request qualification statements you intend to review, and which are necessary to establish qualifications of the product, manufacturer, or installer. A. Single Source Responsibility: For each separate type of sign required, obtain signs from a single manufacturer. B. Design Criteria: The Drawings indicate size, profiles, dimensional requirements and graphic layout of signs and are based on the specific type and model indicated. Signs by other manufacturers may be considered provided that deviations in dimensions and profiles are minor and do not change the design concept as judged by the designer. The burden of proof of equality is on the proposer. Include submittal requirements consistent with the scope of the project and extent of work of this section. Only request submittals that are necessary for review of design intent. 1.4 SUBMITTALS A. General: Submit the following in accordance with Conditions of the Contract and Division 1 Specification Sections. B. Product Data: Include Manufacturer s construction details relative to materials, dimensions of individual components, profiles, and finishes for each type of sign required. C. Color and/or Pattern Charts: Manufacturer s standard charts. 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Deliver components correctly packed to prevent damage. B. Store in secure areas, out of weather and protected from work of other trades. C. Handle IAW Manufacturer s instructions. 1.6 WARRANTY A. Provide Manufacturer s standard limited warranty covering manufacturing defects. Submit manufacturer's standard warranty document executed by authorized company official. 1. 2 PRODUCTS Modify 2.1A below to reflect name, address, and phone/fax of local ASI Affiliate who is supplying to product or system to the project. 2.1 SIGNAGE SYSTEM A. Acceptable Manufacturers: 1. ASI Signage Innovations, 8181 Jetstar Drive, Dallas, TX 76053; (214) 352-9140 telephone; (214) 352-9741 fax; (800) 274-7732. 2. Substitutions: Submit in accordance with Section 01600. B. Acceptable Product: ASI FASCIA signs and directories with requirements indicated for materials, thickness, finish colors, designs, shapes, sizes and details. All signs and directories shall be of matching appearance and constructed using identical manufacturing process to insure consistent appearance. 2.2 SIGN AND DIRECTORY MATERIALS A. Sign or Directory Face: Subsurface print-on-panel digitally imaged acrylic, 2mm thick, matte first surface. Colors and/or patterns specified from manufacturer s standard charts. Spray applied color finishes shall not be acceptable. B. Changeable Message Modules: Extruded vinyl with laser printed paper insert. Fabricated acrylic window signs shall not be acceptable. Manufacturer shall supply all inserts installed in Changeable Message Modules. [Personnel Signs only: [Manufacturer to supply template in Microsoft Word format]] C. Frame: One-piece or fabricated aluminum per standard manufacturer s details. [Natural anodized aluminum-default] [White] [Color as specified from manufacturer s standard chart.] D. Applied Raised Lettering and/or Numerals: Computer-cut characters, matte finish, color as specified from manufacturer s standard color chart. Shall extend a minimum of 1/32 from the sign surface. Photopolymer tags shall not be acceptable. E. Grade 2 Braille: Clear raster balls computer drilled and pressure inserted into sign face. Shall be half-hemisphere in shape and shall extend a minimum of 0.025 from the sign surface. Other methods of manufacture, including surface applied photopolymer Braille tags shall not be acceptable. Refer to Location Plan(s), Text Schedule and Drawings for locations, sizes, graphic layout of signage types, sign text copy, colors and graphics. 3.0 EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLATION A. General: Locate letters and graphic elements where indicated, using installation methods IAW manufacturer s Instructions in accordance with state and Federal Standards for Accessible Design (SAD), 2010 as applicable. Products shall be inspected to be free of manufacturing defects and conform to order specifications prior to installation. B. Site Visits: Master Guide Specification 10440-5 11-22-16

A minimum of three site visits will be required for installation. 1. Assessment prior to proposal 2. Post award coordination with Owner/Owner s representative 3. Final walk-thru with Owner/Owner s representative for punch list C. Shipment, Storage and Protection: Products shall be packaged to prevent damage during transit and shall remain in their original packaging until removal is necessary for installation. Products shall be stored in a protected, dry indoor location until installation. Include D. SignPlan Services below if the Manufacturer will also be providing planning services. D. SignPlan Services: Manufacturer shall provide SignPlan programming services subject to a separate proposal. Such services shall include the provision of the following at minimum: 1. Location Plan(s) 2. Text Schedule 3. Elevation Drawings of all sign types. All documents shall be approved by the Client prior to product manufacturing. In addition, the above information, with the addition of installation details and reorder information shall be provided to the Client at project completion, in the form of a Signage Standards Manual for the project. This manual shall be submitted in both hard copy and PDF forms. E. Cleaning and Protection: Upon completion of the installation clean all product surfaces IAW Manufacturer s instructions.
