Luis Barros Risk Management, Insurance and Bonding Director Grupo Salinas Luis Barros has an Actuarial Sciences degree by the National University of Mexico (UNAM) and a MBA by the ITESM (Technological Institute of Monterrey) He is the Risk & Insurance Management Vice President at Grupo Salinas, as well as founding partner of MaximuM Consulting Group of Risk & Insurance Management. Luis is also a Professor in the Actuarial Sciences Faculty at UNAM- Mexico with a Merit Diploma & Medal for 40 years of Academic services Prior to these roles he was CEO and President of ING Seguros Mexico and Board Member at Afore & Siefore Bital (Pension fund Administrator) among other important roles. Luis was the first Mexican to gain the designation of CRM by The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research. Luis has been acting in the past years as RIMS delegate for the RIMS Mexican Chapter. 4
Andrew Bent Manager Enterprise Risk Management Alberta Energy Regulator, Calgary Andrew Bent is the Manager of the Enterprise Risk Management Team for the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER). In this role Andrew supports the AER to effectively manage the risks associated with regulating the third largest proven energy reserves in the world. Previously, Andrew was the Senior Risk Advisor to the Environment, Health and Safety function of Suncor Energy Inc. (NYSE/TSX: SU). Prior to these roles, Andrew held a number of operational and risk management roles in government agencies in both Canada and New Zealand. Andrew is the chair of RIMS strategic risk management development council, and has collaborated on a number of enterprise and strategic risk management papers, articles and reports. Andrew has also instructed on Enterprise Risk Management topics across North America. Andrew holds a number of risk management certifications, including the ARM- E and ARM-P, CFE, CCSA and CRMA. 5
Jorge Escalera, MBA, CBCP, CT3100 Director RISK MÉXICO Practice leader of: Risk Management, Business Continuity, Continuity of Operations, Disaster Recovery, Enterprise Risk Management, Insurance and Surety Bonds. More than 22 years of experience. He took the corporate function of these areas in manufacturing and telecommunications companies. For 15 years Jorge has been a consultant for private sector multinational corporations in Mexico and adviser for public sector Institutions. Currently, Jorge is the Director of Risk Mexico, S.A. de C.V. Jorge was the first president of the RIMS Mexico Chapter. Chemical Administrator Engineer from ITESM. MBA from EGADE Business School. Certified Trainer (CT31000) by G31000 Global Institute of Risk Management Standards. Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) and Instructor by Disaster Recovery Institute International Member of the Mexican Technical Committees TC262 Risk Management and TC292 Security and Resiliency. 6
Laura Langone Senior Director of Global Risk & Insurance PayPal, Inc. Holdings, California Laura is responsible for Global Risk Management and Insurance at PayPal Inc. Holdings. Prior to PayPal, she was the Senior Director of Juniper Networks from 2009 to 2015, responsible for Global Risk Management including credit, compliance and enterprise risk management. Laura has over 20 years of risk management experience. Laura also held positions at AIG, Johnson and Higgins, Genentech, Marsh, Oracle Corporation and Gordon & Rees, LLP, as an attorney in their insurance defense practice. Laura holds a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Golden Gate University School of Law and an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management. She is an active member of RIMS, most recently as a board member for RIMS and formerly president of Silicon Valley Risk & Insurance Society (SVRIMS) Chapter supporting education and networking for high technology risk management professionals in the Bay Area as well as Chairperson of the Enterprise Risk Management Sub-Committee for RIMS. 7
