Radu Ghețea, Mariana Gheorghe and Steven van Groningen are the most publicized CEOs in the print press Bucharest, July 22, 2015: mediatrust presents the top of the most publicized CEOs in the Romanian economy in the print press during the interval January 1 June 30, 2015. Radu Gheţea is ranked first in the top of the most publicized CEOs. The media cites him as former president of the Romanian Banking Association (current honorary president) and as president of CEC Bank. Radu Gheţea recorded 106 mentions, in articles referring to the banking system from Romania in 2015, to the payment of dividends distributed by companies on the stock exchange by CEC Bank agencies etc. Mariana Gheorghe, CEO of Petrom, is ranked second in the top of the CEOs with the most extensive media coverage, having recorded 61 occurrences in the publications monitored by mediatrust. The articles she was cited in spoke about the evolution of the oil price, as well as about Petrom s activity. Mariana Georghe obtained first prize in The best CEO category within the Excellence in Management Gala. Steven van Groningen is the third CEO according to the number of occurrences in the media, namely 55. He is mentioned as president of Raiffeisen Bank Romania, as member of Proprietatea Fund s Board, and as President of the Romanian Banking Employers Association. Steven van Groningen was mentioned in articles which referred to Raiffeisen Bank s activity, to the situation of the banking sector in Romania and to the Swiss franc crisis. Telekom CEO, Nikolai Beckers, is ranked fourth in the classification, with 46 mentions, being followed by Horia Ciorcilă, Banca Transilvania, with 37 mentions recorded during the interval January 1 June 30, 2015. The president of Automobile Dacia, Nicolas Maure, is present in the top with 36 mentions. The classification also includes Kinga Daradics, CEO Mol, with 22 mentions, Philippe Lhotte, BRD, with 21 mentions, Valerio Brenciaglia, CEO Ford, with 19 mentions, Jean-Francois Fallacher, Orange, with 18 mentions. Severina Pascu (UPC), Thomas Spurny (BCR), Remi Vrignaud (Allianz Tiriac Asigurari) had 15 mentions each. Brent Valmar, CEO Porsche, recorded 12 mentions during the analyzed interval, followed by Alexandru Oprea (RCS&RDS) with 11 mentions.
The advertising value equivalent is one of mediatrust indexes, which reflects the accuracy of the analyzed information. The advertising value equivalent in press is the index that reflects a sum of money that would have to be spent for placing an ad of the same size (in square centimeters).
12,638 articles were recorded in the print press during the interval January 1 June 30, 2015, which cited the most important companies in the five sectors analyzed. The companies with the largest number of media occurrences were the ones from the banking sector, followed by the ones from the automotive sector, oil & gas, telecom and insurance.
Among the sources with the largest number of published articles there are Ziarul Financiar with 3,634 articles, Bursa with 1,281 articles, Libertatea with 403 articles, and Business Magazin with 390 articles.
Methodology The study Top most publicized CEOs in Romanian economy presents the CEOs of the most important companies in Romania with the largest number of occurrences in the central print press. The report is based on the media occurrences mentioning both the name and the surname of the CEO of a company included in the study. Information on the monitored CEO, as well as their comments to have appeared in the print press were taken into consideration. Promotional items and advertising of any sort were not taken into account. The companies were selected from among the leaders.
