HOW TO PRIME + GROW YOUR AUDIENCE FOR YOUR FIRST INFO PRODUCT the workbook
WELCOME AND STUFF Oh hey. That s me. Melyssa. This picture was taken after the photographer instructed me to flip my hair over dramatically. So, the blowing-inthe-wind hair may be a farce, but that smile is all real, baby. Perhaps I m smiling because it s hard not to laugh at yourself when you re hair flipping in front of someone you met 6 minutes ago, but I d like to think it s because I m uber excited to see you here, getting ready to do big thangs. I m excited you re here right now because it means you re ready to plan, create, and launch your first info product in the next four weeks. This next month is going to be one of the most fun and challenging things you ve done as a blogger or online entrepreneur. I can feel it! This workbook is the very first in this 4-week series. There s also an extremely detailed blog post to go along with it right here. While working on your first info product, share your results, preparations, and updates using the #InfoProductBiz hashtag. I can t WAIT to see what you create, you little hustler you. Warmly, MELYSSA GRIFFIN
YOUR EMAIL LIST THE BASICS 1. Let s refresh: What is the topic of your lead magnet? 2. Brainstorm five different potential email newsletter topics, based on your lead magnet topic. Remember, you want to create emails that are helpful and relevant to your target market. If you re having trouble, just imagine that you re creating shorter blog posts and will send them by email instead of posting them on your blog! You got this. 1 2 3 4 5 3. Which day each week will you send your newsletters? 4. How do these newsletter topics prime your audience to eventually purchase your info product?
GROWING YOUR EMAIL LIST 1. Do you currently have an email list set up? Select one. If not, I recommend signing up with either Mailchimp (beginner) or ConvertKit (intermediate-advanced). YES NO 2. How many people are currently on your email list? 3. How many people do you want to have on your email list 30 days from now? 4. In order to reach that number, how many new subscribers would you need to get per week? 5. Let s refresh: Who is your target market? 5. List five other blogs who have a similar target market and a slightly larger audience than you. These are the blogs you can reach out to for potential guest posting opportunities. 1 2 3 4 5
6. Now, think of three potential guest posts for each of the blogs you listed above. You will share these pitch ideas in the email you send to each blogger. BLOG 1: BLOG 2: BLOG 3: BLOG 4: BLOG 5: 7. What are three webinar or online workshop ideas you could teach, which are relevant to your info product s topic? 1 2 3 8. Will your webinar be purely educational or will you pre-sell your product at the end?
9. Make a list of five of your most popular blog posts, which are relevant to your target market and/or info product topic. These are the best posts for you to add a content upgrade to. Below the title of each post, write down a content upgrade idea. Remember, content upgrades can be checklists, workbooks, etc POST: C.U.: POST: C.U.: POST: C.U.: POST: C.U.: POST: C.U.:
10. Where do you currently have opt-in forms on your site? Ideally, you should have at least three locations with opt-in forms. If you don t currently have at least three, where else can you add subscription forms to your site? YOUR BLOG CONTENT STRATEGY 1. Make a list of 5-6 blog posts you can publish leading up to your launch, which are relevant to your target market and prime your audience to purchase your product. To the right of each blog post idea, write down a potential content upgrade that you can create for that post. BLOG POST CONTENT UPGRADE 2. After reading these blog posts, will your target market be highly interested in your product and ready to buy? (i.e. Are they informative?) Is there anything missing?
YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY 1. Make a list of any known Twitter chats where your ideal audience hangs out. 2. Are you interested in starting your own Twitter chat, even for just a one month series? If so, what could you use as the weekly topics for your Twitter chat series? 3. Make a list of 10+ Twitter usernames of bloggers in similar niches whose work you could share on Twitter. Now, you can add these people to a Twitter list so that you can easily find content to schedule by checking on your list. Make sure your Twitter profile includes a link to your lead magnet landing page!
4. Make a list of any Facebook groups where your target market hangs out. Join them in order to answer questions and show your value. Make sure your Facebook profile includes a link to your lead magnet landing page, too. Facebook allows you to create a button for your page that says Sign Up and takes people to a form where they can subscribe. Make sure your page has this! 5. Have you done any Periscopes? If yes, then select a time that you will scope each week. If no, then choose a time and date for your first scope! 6. What are a few topics you could discuss during your Periscope? You don t need to kill your brain trying to think of topics. If you re having trouble, look back on your most popular blog posts (related to your info product in some way) and rehash those posts on Periscope!
7. Make a list of any relevant hashtags that your potential customers would be using on Instagram. Now, spend a few minutes each day to click through to these hashtags and leave comments on people s photos in order to build community and awareness around your brand.
