OUR SPEAKER & PANELLISTS KEYNOTE DIALOGUE - PANELLIST: STRENGTHENING THE SINGAPOREAN CORE FOR A LEAN ENTERPRISE LANDSCAPE Mr Chan Chong Beng Chairman & CEO Goodrich Global Pte Ltd Chairman Workforce Advancement Federation (WAF) Mr Chan Chong Beng co-founded Goodrich Global in 1983. He has since built Goodrich Global into Southeast Asia s leading supplier of interior wallcoverings. The Goodrich brand has become synonymous with trendsetting wallcoverings, fabrics, carpets and floorings. Goodrich caters to residential, hospitality and commercial projects in 8 countries. It has built up significant brand equity as a reliable, premium, and preferred brand of choice. Under Mr Chan s leadership, the company had won several awards Enterprise 50 Award, Singapore Prestige Brand Award and the Overall Winner of SPBA-Citi business Regional Brand. It also attained the Singapore Quality Class and ISO 9001:2000 certifications, in recognition of its all-round business excellence and quality management system respectively. To date, the Goodrich brand is valued at SGD15.4 million. Mr Chan himself was awarded the Top Entrepreneur of the Year twice. In November 2013, a Temasek-linked equity fund invested $15 million in the company, affirming it as a champion in the interior furnishings industry and a potential flag bearer for Singapore in its regional expansion. For possessing good HR practices, Goodrich was awarded the first Aon Hewitt Best Employer in the Special Recognition category for SMEs in 2015. Apart from business, Mr Chan is currently the Chairman of the Workforce Advancement Federation (WAF) and an Advisory Council member on the Community Relations in Defence (ACCORD). In the past, he also served as the President of Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME) from 2011 to 2012, Chairman of the Singapore Prestige Brand Award 2008-2011.
KEYNOTE DIALOGUE - PANELLIST: STRENGTHENING THE SINGAPOREAN CORE FOR A LEAN ENTERPRISE LANDSCAPE Mr Koh Seng Choon Founder & Executive Director Project Dignity Pte Ltd Seng Choon is the Executive Director of Dignity Kitchen TM, Singapore's first hawker training school for the disabled and disadvantaged people. Seng Choon started work in a Singapore Shipyard before deciding to pursue his studies at Sheffield University, UK. In 3 years he completed a dual honours degree in Engineering and Business Administration with first class honours. He also holds an MSc in Computer Integrated Manufacturing from Cranfield Institute of Technology, UK. Working in UK upon graduation, he was involved with the management of a steel foundry; and later in merger and acquisition of businesses in China, Indonesia and the United States as part of the steel foundry growth strategies. Seng Choon then worked as an ISO 9000 assessor in UK before returning to Singapore as a senior manager with the then Coopers & Lybrand International. He set up his own management consultancy firm in 1997 focusing on small and medium enterprises, in the areas of strategic planning and business development of mainland Chinese and Indian companies. He is a consultant to several state-owned Chinese companies in South China and several major Indian family managed businesses. His experience of India and Middle East is invaluable and was appointed as one of IE Singapore s export coaches to assist local companies to develop their business overseas. In 2005, he was appointed as Executive Director of Restaurant Association of Singapore responsible for restructuring of the food and beverage industry in Singapore and assisted with the setting up a Chinese culinary training school. In his free time, he lectures on the subject of entrepreneurship to MBA students at S P Jain Centre of Management and also assist ex inmates of Selarang Drug Rehabilitation Centre and the pre release prisoners Changi Prison Housing Unit A5 and B4 to realise their entrepreneurial ambition. In October 2010, he started Dignity Kitchen TM - a training school to train the disabled and the disadvantaged to be food stall operators or hawkers. He is also an author of 3 books, one of which was on the best seller list in Delhi, India.
CONVERSATION - PANELLIST: PROMOTING TOTAL WORKPLACE SOLUTIONS FOR A RESILIENT WORKFORCE Mr Joseph Foo Founder & Executive Chairman Jason Marine Group Joseph Foo is the Chairman and founder of Jason Marine Group. He has been the executive director of Jason Electronics Pte Ltd, now a full subsidiary of the Group, since its incorporation in 1978. He determines the overall strategic and expansion plans of the Group, and is responsible for the overall business development and general management of the Group. Under his leadership, Jason Marine becomes a leading marine electronics systems integrator and support services provider for the marine and offshore oil & gas industries. The group s track record of delivering quality results safely and efficiently has enabled it to become one of the industry's key players in Singapore and forge lasting relationships with a global customer base. Furthermore, it has since establishment, expanded to Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and into key shipbuilding markets such as China. Mr Foo received a Master of Business Administration from the Oklahoma City University, USA in 1992. In 1987, he obtained a Diploma in Marketing from The Chartered Institute of Marketing in the UK. He is also a full member of the Singapore Institute of Directors.
CONVERSATION - PANELLIST: PROMOTING TOTAL WORKPLACE SOLUTIONS FOR A RESILIENT WORKFORCE Mr Goh Chye Guan Managing Director SME Resources Pte Ltd Chye Guan has more than 30 years of workplace safety & health (WSH) and risk management experience from both the public and private sectors. He has travelled widely in Asia to provide safety & health auditing, consulting and training services. In his previous employment, Chye Guan has worked with the Ministry of Manpower, the Workplace Safety and Health Council, Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Industry, Singapore Construction Safety and Consultancy Pte Ltd (SC2), and IRM Consultants. He is currently the Managing Director of Loyal Reliance, SME Resources and Total Safety Solutions in which he leads consultants from subsidiaries within the LR Group to assist companies, especially SMEs, to enhance enterprise and manpower capabilities for a resilience workforce and productive workplaces. Chye Guan was the Director of Industry Capability Building of the Workplace Safety and Health Council, Ministry of Manpower in his previous public sector appointment, and is holder of a B.Engineering (Mechnical), M.Sc. (Industrial Engineering), an MBA from the National University of Singapore, and a WSQ Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education (DACE).
CONVERSATION - PANELLIST: PROMOTING TOTAL WORKPLACE SOLUTIONS FOR A RESILIENT WORKFORCE Mr Sim Beng Khoon Director Workplace Health & Outreach Division Health Promotion Board Beng Khoon (BK) is a senior leader at the Health Promotion Board, a statutory board of the Ministry of Health, Singapore. As director of its Workplace Health and Outreach Division, he oversees the planning and implementation of the national strategy to promote health in the various key workplace settings in Singapore. He leads the team in engaging policy and decision makers in government, public agencies, businesses and unions to facilitate the roll-out of targeted health initiatives for the resident workforce. He is a member of the Tripartite Oversight Committee on Workplace Health, chaired by Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Health, Singapore. BK s role before joining the Workplace Health team was in Obesity Prevention. He spearheaded the launch of national level initiatives such as the Healthier Dining Programme and the Healthier Ingredients Scheme which were aimed at getting food manufacturers and F&B operators to provide healthier choices to the consuming public. BK graduated with a degree in Social Science and an MBA from the National University of Singapore.
MODERATOR FOR KEYNOTE DIALOGUE: Mdm Ho Geok Choo Chief Executive Officer Human Capital (Singapore) Pte Ltd Mdm Ho Geok Choo has more than 38 years of experience in both the public and the private sector. She had served in the public sector as Member of Parliament; President of SHRI; President, Asia Pacific Federation of HRM; as well Secretary and Vice Chairman of PAP Women s Wing. In the private sector, she has been involved in strategic planning, organisational development and development of employees in both small and large companies, including GLCs such as CIAS and SIA. Her current public and private appointments include: Member, Board of Trustees of NCCS Research Fund and Community Cancer Fund; Member, Board of Governors of Raffles Institution; and Independent Director of Select Group, Swissco Holdings and Ezra Holdings. Mdm Ho holds a BA in Political Science and Economics from the University of Singapore (1978), MSc in Asia Pacific HRM from NUS (2000) and Advanced Professional Qualification (APQ) from Georgetown University (2015). She is also an Adjunct Professor at UniSIM.
